‘Rustic’ isn’t the word you’d usually use to describe an apartment in Barcelona, but this one pulls it off. You can just imagine wholesome family meals in the farmhouse sized kitchen. Alternatively, if you’re not feeling all that wholesome, have a drink with the locals at El Rincon del Cava, on the same street.
Poble Sec means the dry village. But don’t worry. Here, your palate won’t be dry nor your stomach empty. This laid back area on the slopes of Montjuic had plenty of watering holes. The village feel of the area remains one of its most attractive features. Climb up away from the traffic of Paralelo and you’ll note the sleepy and relaxed vibe. Grocer’s shops serve a local community that you’ll see congregate in the plazas. Head downhill for downtown and uphill for Montjuic Castle and superb views.

Beds and pillows in the apartment were of very poor quality thus getting a good nights sleep was not possible. The apartment was up a back street, something which I believe should have been stated in the description.
Simone was a fantastic landlady who was very helpful and extremely accommodating. The location of the apartment was great and very easy to get everywhere. The beds were firm and comfortable, even the sofa bed. All around a great experience! Bring ear plugs as you can really hear the neighbours move around. They weren't exceptionally loud or rowdy, just that the walls and floors were really thin so you can hear them moving around. The bathroom door also didn't close properly so that was a bit annoying.
Fantastic location in a vibrant and very Spanish area of Barcelona, away from the tourists but very close to everything.
The apartment was very central and if you like walking very easy to see the city by foot, if not metro serving the area is very close and easy to get to the main attractions.
It has a very local feel, there are nice bars just around the corner and a gorgeous Turk/Leb place to eat!
The bathrom is compact. Wasnt a big problem but may cocern a group. The shower power was very good though.
Simone was very honest about the balcony so also not a problem, not really a place to sit and watch the world go by, interesting view spot for how the locals live though.
We had a wonderful time staying at the apt. The local neighborhood was perfect for getting a feel for the city. Lots of restaurants and convenient.
Simone was friendly and helpful - even arranged the taxi to the airport for us. Would stay again!
