Great Location

  • 4 of 5

Overall this apartment was in a great location to walk to everything but the Vatican. The owner arranged for us transportation from the train station and also to the cruise port upon our departure. There were four of us staying here and we were quite comfortable. The one bedroom did not have a closet so some of our luggage had to stay in the living room. We were met at the door and given a tour of the apartment. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Great location but little tight for 4 adults!

  • 3 of 5

Our host organized our rides from the train station and to the airport which was tremendous! He gave us a tour of the place and was available when needed.

The strengths are: location, air conditioning, nice size beds.

The place however is quite small for 4 adults to share. We chose to eat out as a result. The shower head was quite low and flimsy. It fell off numerous times even after it was fixed. Shower curtain should be changed as well.

The ceiling is quite low too.

High hopes were dashed

  • 2 of 5

I really wanted to love this place but alas, it needs maintenance in order to meet my family's expectations. I will start with the positive by saying that the location was awesome. We never took a taxi except to Vatican City. We walked to all of the other sights, shops and restaurants. The building was run down a bit but nothing terrible. Also worth noting was that Allesandro and Georgia were lovely and welcoming and helped us with a transfer.

Now for the not so positive. First off, there is no way 6 people could stay here comfortably. We were a family of 4 and it was tight. The bedrooms and sitting rooms were small but well appointed and clean. The a/c worked well enough. But the bathroom. Oh the bathroom. That shower was nasty!! If I could post pics, I'd show the mold all over the wall and the curtain. I barely wanted me or my children to use it. Plus, when we turned off the water, the shower head fell off the stand and hit us in the head until we devised a system to prevent it. The kitchen was old, the coffee pot had mold, the fridge barely kept our beers cold and pieces fell off the cabinetry during our stay. In fact, door handles feel off as we opened the door and the toilet paper holder did the same. They have a great place and really need to spend some time on it to make it rentable.

For us, the most difficult set back was the washing machine. We were on a two week and four city trip. With kids. I was counting on a functioning machine to take care of my family and it was specifically an amenity I was seeking when considering rentals. We got a few loads in but the spin cycle barely removed the water and there was no dryer. Well, it then broke. And flooded the kitchen. Our request for repair went unanswered until it was too late. I can see from previous reviews that it was problematic in the past. Again, I will say, if they spent time and a little money on the place, it could be terrific.

Fabulous Stay in Rom

  • 4 of 5

The Trevi fountain apartment was lovely. We were greeted by the property manager, who shared with this how the apartment works, where we could find a supermarket, recommendations on great restaurants and was always available to us throughout our stay.

The apartment was comfortable for a family of three, it was central close to everything and being close to the Trevi fountain, where there are millions of visitors - the location was very quiet once inside the apartment.

The air conditioners were fantastic as Rome was so hot and having an elevator was extremely helpful since we were on the third floor.

I would highly recommend this apartment for individuals or small families - good value, good location and good value and within walking distance to everything.

Great Location but Falls Short in Every Other Aspect and Not Very Chic

  • 2 of 5

Okay, for starters, I rent using VRBO quite a bit. I rent usually once or twice per year. I know what families expect when renting a place. I also know that a rental can be the difference between a great vacation and a horrible one. So, I really do try to write reviews on the services that I receive during holiday. With this property, you will find that you should just pass on it.

The location with this property is pretty good. It's close to a lot of sites so you can walk around without having to call for a taxi. The downside is that this property used to be a gem, and that's the key here, "used to be." The building itself was pretty run down. Although our family felt safe, it just needed spruced up a bit and the trash collection area was really bad. It was more like a trash room. The apartment itself is incredibly run down and there are a lot of things that just don't work. Plus, the apartment was very dirty from continued use. The sheets were clean, but the floors were dirty and the shower was horrid--like mold and stuff on the walls and scum on the shower tiles. Those cute gray and white tiles that you see in the photos have been painted. The towel hooks in the bathroom were broken so you couldn't really hang up your towel. I also tried try to vacuum as soon as we got there because the floor was really dirty--but the vacuum was broken. That tells you that the apartment hadn't been truly cleaned in a while. I used a broom and then went to buy cleaning supplies. I mopped the entire apartment. The bed in the room on the main floor seemed to be broken a bit too. The one side tilted your head below the rest of your body. Furthermore, the air conditioning in the one bedroom couldn't be used due to condensation making a puddle on the floor and splashed up on the walls and door. As for the appliances, the refrigerator door was broken, and so was the toaster. Plus, the washing machine spin cycle did not work. Your clothes came out sopping wet. There were also a few spiders and ants too. When I cleaned, I tossed the sugar that had been sitting out opened, and that seemed to get rid of the ants. I think the spiders were coming from the ceiling since it's wood.

Overall, I gave this place a two because of the location. If the owners were to take it off the market for a few weeks and do a deep cleaning and renovation on the bathroom, it can be brought back to it's original glory. However, as it sits now, there is nothing chic about this place.
