Plage Priveé is a spacious 2 bed, 2 bath apartment situated right at the entrance of the beach of Villefranche-sur-Mer. Whether sitting at the dining table, lounging on the large and lovely terrace, laying in bed, or just relaxing on the couch, you feel as though the sea is at your feet. Truly, your own 'Private Beach.' Two great lounging areas exist: a sofa for up to four with a coffee table and view of the sparkling sea, or the dining table for 4-6 right at the head of a large window or a day bed right under the large picture window where you can enjoy laying down with a book, taking a little nap in the sun while looking at the fish swim below. There is a great kitchen, very well designed for someone who loves to cook, with a gas stove top, oven, microwave, dishwasher, large refrigerator, granite counter tops, and ample storage space. One bathroom has a spacious stall shower, and the other has a complete shower and bath; and both have a view of the lovely back garden. There is plenty of clothes storage throughout each room, and even two separate workspaces (in the main room and second bedroom) for you to work away if need be.
The design is a little eclectic - a mix of antiques and modern with original art and interesting lighting (all on dimmers) as well as practical lighting for reading.
The location is ideal: steps from the beach, steps from the train station or local bus, and steps from the shops in the village and restaurants. Parking is also easy and close by. The location is also very quiet. Although right on the waterfront, you don't hear noise from cars or people walking by. You are part of it but from a private perch that no one sees. It is a privileged location.
My husband and I have 9 rental properties in Villefranche which we advertise on Home Away as well as on our own site. We have had the business for 10 years. We have purchased, renovated, decorated and look after each of our properties personally.
Shelley Dobyns purchased this apartment in 2014
We have owned another property in this building since 2008, Beach front Bliss which is a studio apartment. We have had our eye on this property for years and when the person was ready to sell, we were ready to move. We love the location and one day hope to live here ourselves.
Amazing views, comfortable outside space, spacious apartment very well equipped, quiet yet in the heart of it all. Great location, great light and sun year round, high end appointments, personally maintained. Incredibly convenient.
We LOVED our stay at Plage Privee! This is a lovingly, meticulously cared for apartment with every convenience. It is immaculately clean and both bed and bath linens are of the highest quality. The location is exceptional and we really enjoyed being so near the train station. There is no noise from the trains at all and yet you are able to hop on a train within two minutes. We even chose not to rent a car once we became aware of the easy access. The kitchen is gorgeous and we had most breakfasts in the apartment as well as lunch if we were not out and about. There are so many good little restaurants that we did enjoy an evening stroll for dinner. The balcony is lovely and comfortable for relaxing with coffee or a glass of wine. And, oh that view! Wow! The owners are very available and helpful yet not intrusive. I would wholeheartedly recommend this apartment! We would love to return one day.
Staying at Shelley and Riccardo’s Plage Privee was a dream come-true. It is amazing in every way. The location in beautiful Villefranche-Sur-Mer could not be any better. The interior is equally spectacular. Every detail and comfort has been attended to. When you first walk in, the stunning view takes your breath away. And then you start looking around and are absolutely amazed beginning from the bottom up – the spectacular terrazzo floors, the high-end furnishings, the quality appliances, the beautiful lighting, the flow of the space, two ensuite bedrooms/bathrooms, and then there’s the terrasse! The kitchen is so well-supplied and you dine on beautiful dinnerware – with lots of serving dishes, wine and champagne glasses, too much to mention. The website pictures are accurate, yet do not tell the entire story. You have to be there to experience it. We highly recommend staying at Plage Privee for a Riviera vacation of a lifetime. The only thing that might surpass all the pluses we mentioned above, is the excellent service Shelley and Riccardo provide for their guests. They truly want you to have the best vacation ever. And you will if you stay at Plage Privee (or any of their 9 properties.)
This apartment was utter perfection, inside and out. Views that cannot be beaten anywhere on the Riviera, and an amazing location at the point where the old town meets the beach. Despite this, and the fact that the door at the back of the house virtually has its own private entrance into the railway platform, the apartment is extremely peaceful and there was never any disturbance from trains or traffic. The train is actually extremely convenient, because it provides door-to-door service to and from an excellent supermarket a few minutes away in Beaulieu. The apartment is immaculately clean and full of sunshine. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious, and all of the appliances (everything you could possibly want and more) throughout the flat are of the highest quality and in mint condition. Everything is beautifully decorated and furnished. The terrace is a fabulous space to eat and relax and watch the sun rise and set. The photographs on the website do not really do it justice. Very good value. Shelley, the owner, is very friendly and helpful.
It's hard to know where to begin with this apartment. We were met on arrival by the owner Shelley who is absolutely delightful, very caring, helping my wife with her bags and has a lovely bubbly personality.
The apartment itself was everything we could have wished for. All top quality appliances, spotlessly clean and loads of light flooding in from the huge windows overlooking the bay of VsM.
Both bathrooms were excellent with lovely little touches like hand made soaps and quality towels, again the bathrooms were spotless.
Beds were really comfortable as well and bedrooms had loads of storage space.
The lounge has a fantastic views from all windows and is very well equiped with Sky TV, smart TV,Hi-fi and iphone dock. The kitchen was the best we have had in an apartment with every utensil you could think of. There was also a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier.
Shelly had provided some nice little touches like umbrellas in case of rain and a shopping trolley which we found really useful.
The location is great just a few steps from the rail station and the views are just gorgeous.
Outside is a lovely terrace with plenty of room with a table chairs and sun loungers. There is also a good quality Weber barbecue as well. The terrace is not overlooked by other apartments which was nice.
All in all we had a lovely time in a beautiful place and well definately be returning for another break there unless we decide to try out another of Shelley's apartments. Thanks Shelley.
The remarkable thing about Plage Privee is that you are not confined by its walls and windows but rather find yourself escorted out into one of the most beautiful views on the French Riviera: the Harbor de V-s-M. Bright blue and turquoise surrounded by lime stone chateaus on one side and citrus colored Italianate walk-ups on the other. Astounding. Made all the more memorable by this beautifully appointed and constructed beach front apartment with all the new modern amenities. Marble baths, comfortable bedrooms with great storage, water and dryer washing machine, coffee maker, espresso maker, fridge and freezer, Smart t.v., the list goes on. The apartment exceeds any expectations you may have. I would (and do) recommend this property to friends without hesitation.
Plage Priveé is located in the Old Town of Villefranche-sur-Mer on the waterfront quai. Villefranche is nestled between Nice and Monaco (10 minutes from Vieux Nice, 15 minutes from Monaco). Although surrounded by a diverse, exciting cosmopolitan environment, it is still an authentic Niçoise village. I know, I live here, and it's hard to believe it is still that way-- wonderful! Within close and easy access are Antibes, Cannes, St. Paul de Vence, Grasse, Mougins, and just a bit further, St. Tropez, Ramatuelle, Bormes les Mimosas, or Aix, Arles, Avignon and all the villages of Provence. Take a ferry from Nice Port to Corsica (3 hours on the fast ferry), or head to Italy and visit Ventimiglia, San Remo, the Vallee de Roya, Portofino, Cinque Terre... But if you stay in Villefranche and the neighboring towns of Beaulieu-sur-Mer, St. Jean Cap Ferrat, Eze, and La Turbie, you'll exhaust a week or more just exploring and enjoying these lovely villages. Most of these sites are easy to access without a car. And if you are here to attend the French language institute, Institut Français, it is a 10 minute walk away.
There are a number of fabulous coastal walks from your doorstep including a walk to St Jean Cap Ferrat along the waterfront for lunch and then a visit to Villa Rothschild or Villa Kerylos, or another coastal walk to Beaulieu sur Mer to take in their daily local market, or another coastal walk to Nice and go for lunch, shopping or their local markets and then you can take the bus or train back. Or you can visit any number of museums, take the train to Monaco, Cannes or Antibes or a bus to St. Paul de Vence. Everything is within an easy distance of Villefranche - a little day trip. You can go to Italy to their lovely food market and lunch and then be home by afternoon - a lovely day out and come home with delicious things to enjoy in your apartment. Or take a swim in the bay. Many of our guests, who live where there are lovely beaches, come back every year for several weeks at a time, just to swim every day in our bay - it is that special. Or explore our local village. There is so much to see and know: shops, museums, culture, architecture, people, restaurants and shops. We have guests that come for a week, then the next year they come for 2 or 3 weeks and many now come for 2 or 4 months - every year. There is so much to see and do, so many layers of life here that are lovely to know. And if you come for an extended stay, Nice airport is the second largest in France, yet so small and easy to navigate - but they have flights everywhere. So you can go to so many places all over Europe and beyond for a 3 or 4 days weekend - it is so convenient. There is so much to enjoy and appreciate about this sweet little village by the sea.
