Quaint waterfront cabin with a view and calm to put you in awe
Hello, John and Wendy Erdley here. I am a retired asphalt construction worker and non-retired musician (drummer). Wendy is a 20 year employee of the Snyder County Court House.. After purchasing the home down Eagle Lane over 25 years ago on one of my first walks down the old rail bed I discovered this cabin. After 3 attempts to purchase it over a 20 year period it one day became a reality. In my early teens my 2 Uncles with me in tow would visit the Weikert area for the first day of Trout season. On the way home we would park along the road and walk down a dirt lane to the Penns. Imagine my surprise walking up the lane one day after a morning fish to realize it was in fact the same lane. This is one of the reasons this place holds such a special place in my heart.
JohnErdley purchased this Cottage in 2014
Why JohnErdley chose Millmont
What do realtors say, location, location. Cot N Munch is located on the banks of the banks of one of the most famous Trout streams on the east coast, the Penns Creek. Most famous for it's fly hatches, with the biggest being the Green drake. Over the years I've spent quite some time on the beautiful water of the Penns and from what I've seen I can tell you there are few cabins that offer you as much privacy with the view and calm you have here.
What makes this Cottage unique
Cot N Munch is centrally located a few miles off route 45 between Lewisburgs Bucknell University and State College, home of the Penn State Nittany Lions. We are within minutes of the Coburn to Cherry Run hiking and biking trail to the west and Buffalo Valley trail to the east. A short drive to groceries, fuel, restaurants, microbreweries, wineries, State Forrest and State Game lands. We are 10 miles away from Woodward Camp, a modern X games training facility. Don't forget to check out the animals and feed the fish at the Union County Sportsmen Club

Great scenery, great hosts.. we would definitely visit again, awesome place to get away for a few days. Very secluded
We wanted a quiet place that offered the ability to chill out and relax but also, the ability for hiking and a few day trips. Cot-n-Munch was the perfect fit for us. The sereneness and beauty of Penns Creek was wonderful. The cabin suited us perfectly. John is a great host and you can feel the love that he holds for this little slice of heaven. We enjoyed: a few games of pool (on a beautiful antique pool table) and quiot, the fire pit, the yard, and of course the scenery. Having wifi and a smart tv was also a nice little added bonus for those times when we wanted to locate a local eatery or watch youtube videos of a local bluegrass band that we happened to catch at The Elk Café.
All-in-all, we highly recommend this property and are talking of when we can go back.
So glad you love the cabin as much as we do. The place was absolutely spotless, thanks. Look forward to having you back.
Take care, John
Spring fed mountain creek dream!
The location was amazing, even off season I was able to get my daughters on trout. It was quiet and peaceful, a perfect way to relax!
My husband and our adult sons needed a place to stay for a family reunion in the area and were so happy to find this wonderful and unique property. A handcrafted and landscaped cabin right on Penns Creek with beautiful creek views from nearly every angle. We loved the place and will definitely be back again when visiting family in the area.
So glad you enjoyed it and look forward to having you back.
Thanks and take care, John
Doesn’t get more private
I’ve stayed at John’s place a few times and am never disappointed. His cabin sits on one of the most beautiful and secluded lots I’ve found anywhere. The cabin is clean and comfortable and John is a very accommodating host. While I stayed by myself this trip, the recent addition of the large family room with the gorgeous antique pool table makes this cabin perfect for small groups or solo travelers. As someone who likes both history and cool old stuff, I appreciated the fact that John took the time to display information on both the pool table itself as well as it’s history with his family. The fire pit has been moved to the far side of the property making it even more private. Hearing the rush of the creek from the bed in the morning is the icing on the cake. A+ across the board.
Thanks so much for your review of Cot N munch, Brian. I'm so glad you enjoyed the renovations and I am more then happy to share what has been mine for all these years with all of the wonderful people who have spent time there this summer. See you again.
Thank you and take care, John
Owner is great! Friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Cabin was perfect for fishing and socializing ! I’m local but loved being on the water for a few days.
Hello Susan, So glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the review and hope to see you again next year. Take care, John.
A a short drive to your west will put you on the Cherry Run to Coburn hiking and biking trail. To the east is Mifflinburg to Lewisburg trail. Nice country drive to Penns Cave and Woodward cave. The Rusty Rail a microbrewery in Mifflinburg is a must see, along with The Shade Mountain Winery located on route 104. There is always something happening at one of these places.
