About the property

2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4/6

Recently refurbished apartment in a small, mainly residential complex. Ideal for a relaxing family holiday or romantic break. Located away from noisy tourist areas, but within easy walking distance of Cabopino Harbour, shops, bars and superb restaurants. The newly completed Coastal Walkway, 6km between La Cala and Cabopino, runs alongside the apartment beach. The main double bedroom and the lounge have patio windows which afford fabulous views of the Med. These both open onto the large private terrace, which is ideal for 'al fresco' eating, lounging on the sunbeds, watching over the children in one of the 2 family pools or simply enjoying the view. The terrace is south west facing so gets the sun virtually all day. A stroll through the gardens leads to a clean, sandy beach complete with an excellent beach bar and restaurant, sunbeds and sun umbrellas. The modern kitchen is well equipped. The bathroom has a full sized bath with shower over. All spotlessly clean. A car isn't essential if you're planning a lazy holiday, as all amenities are within walking distance. For more info, please ask for our website link.

Climate: The Costa del Sol is named the sunny coast for good reason. It enjoys more than 300 days of sunshine per year. Even the winter months are generally warm and pleasant. Naturally, it can sometimes be wet or windy, but its a great way of escaping our freezing wintry weather. The apartment is heated, but you'll probably only need it for those clear, cool winter evenings. April, May, June, Sept and October are lovely months with sunny weather, but without the extreme heat of high summer. Ideal for children. Temperatures during July and August can be very high and care needs to be taken in the sun. For your comfort the apartment is air-conditioned.

Getting there: Flights to Malaga airport are plentiful and generally inexpensive. From Malaga airport it is around 25 minutes drive. To make life easier, an airport transfer service is available at a cost of around 100 Euro return. Hire cars may be collected from the airport. Several Car hire companies operate from the airport. But book on internet for bargains. There is an excellent train service to Fuengirola from the airport and then a bus service which runs every 20 minutes past the front of the apartment, from Marbella to Fuengirola. The bus stop is in front of the complex. Fares are low, but its not suitable for families with lots of luggage as the buses don't have much storage space.

Suitability: Ideally suited to families or couples seeking a quiet and relaxing beach holiday but with access to local attractions. Secure gardens with two swimming pools and two kiddies paddling pools all with sunbeds. The mainly residential nature of the apartments mean no large groups of noisy tourists. Bars and restaurants are close enough to get to on foot, but far enough away to cause no disturbance. The majority of my visitors simply enjoy relaxing on the terrace, lazing around the pool or wandering through the gate onto the safe, sandy beach. They may visit one of the excellent 'Chiringuitos' or beach bar/restaurants or enjoy a stroll along the Coastal Walkway or along the water's edge to Cabopino Marina. For winter visitors, it is ideally situated to get around the Costa Del Sol either by car or by public transport. Apartment is on 1st floor and accessible by lift so suitable for elderly or disabled. Accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs, although there is a small step in the hallway.

Loved the location and huge terrace.

My sister and I spent most of our stay on the terrace which offered both sunshine and shade and although you are aware of the main road it was not a problem for us. We enjoyed watching the comings and goings at La Luna beach and restaurant as well as all the walkers joining the boardwalk here. The boardwalk is wonderful and we used it every day as well as the boardwalk through the dunes of Capobino. Buses to La Cala and Marbella were easy and meant we could go further afield. The supermarkets just across the bridge are very handy especially when it's hot and shopping has to be carried. Plenty of beach cafes and restaurants along the boardwalk which we made good use of.

The apartment itself was well equipped and we appreciated the English TV and wifi. The master bedroom is large and airy, the second bedroom is a bit small and dark which wasn't a problem but the hard squeaky bed was! A good size bathroom with a very good shower over the bath. There were beach umbrellas and we would have liked a couple of folding chairs for the beach and pool.

Contact with the owner was efficient and prompt and the airport transfer was very good. We had a problem with the wifi which was quickly sorted out (thank you Alan).

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review. We are so glad you enjoyed your holiday. I agree, the boardwalk has made the area rather special and has brought so much investment to the area that the bars and restaurants are upgrading too. I apologise for the hard and squeeky bed. Nobody has mentioned that to me, so perhaps it has recently started to get a little worn. Both mattresses have now been replaced with good quality ones. Thank you for drawing our attention to this. And I really agree regarding the beach equipment. I have provided many sets of foldable sun loungers and beach umbrellas. Unfortunately they get left on the beach or by the pool early on in the season and disappear. There were certainly several beach umbrellas in the cupboard when I visited this week. The beach shop opposite sells these kind of items fairly cheaply. Very cost effective against hiring them. UPDATE: New comfortable mattresses now provided.

Everything we expected and more

Thanks Susan for giving us a holiday we won't forget in a hurry. The location of the appt. is what made it for us, the view of the beach and sea along with the convenience of the boardwalk which we used every day.

The appt. itself was spotless and had everything we could have hoped for. Will be back here soon no doubt.

Great Accommodation with a spectacular view

  • 5 of 5

The owner who was very accommodating sent us the keys and instructions about 3 weeks before our holiday she very kindly let us arrive early and depart slightly later. We hired a car and drove from the airport following the instructions from the owner (we needed instructions for idiots as the instructions were far to complicated for us. You should follow the signs towards the A7 which is the free road as it goes right past the accommodation or the AP7 which is the toll road and then onto the A7 towards Cabopino). We were pleasantly surprised on our arrival although the furniture was slightly shabby, the view from the very large balcony was amazing. The accommodation had everything we needed with lots unexpected extras i.e. washing powder, sugar which we replaced once used. The location was excellent with lots of food shopping i.e. Lidl just over the footbridge which is situated right in front of the apartment. Most days we lay by the pool there were no sun loungers so we brought our own Eur17 from the local supermarket and used them by the pool (wish sun loungers would have been provided) You can hire a sun loungers on the beach at a daily rate of Eur5. We found the sea a little cold and a bit rough there was also a lot of rocks in it which were hard to see. In the evening we ate everywhere approx Marbella-15mins, Puerto Banus-25mins, Estepona-40mins, Benalmadena-30mins (Cable car excellent bit chilli at the top), Fuengirola was a dive & Mijas. Gibraltar-1 hour but park outside and walk in great day trip however didn't think much of Malaga. Carpark at the accommodation was always full so we had to park over the motorway most days but it was free and safe. The local waterparks were a rip off and crowded the best one was Aquavelis which is the other side of Malaga and that was brilliant no hidden extras a bit tamer and far less queuing. There are lots of shopping centres along the A7 if you fancy a bit of retail therapy but you do take your life in your hands when attempting join it. It is noisy and you can hear the noise of the traffic on the balcony but its a distant hum, you can't hear it in the apartment. The walkway seemed to go for miles towards Mijas but the other way it stopped just after the apartment and you had to walk on the sand to get to the lovely Marina. For us this was a great apartment with lovely views but just remember along this strip you do feel squashed between the sea and the A7 but a lovely place to be squashed.

Owner's Response: Thank you for such a detailed and helpful review. We are pleased you had such a lovely time. We have been refurbishing the apartment recently with several trips to Ikea. The next trip, at the end of this season, will see replacement bedroom furniture, which will complete it nicely. The walkway has been built by Mijas authority, so it ends at the Marbella boundary, a few hundred metres to the West. However, the Andalucian authorities plan to extend the walkway from Malaga to Estepona. As with everything in Spain, it takes time. The walkway does restart at the West side of Cabopino marina, just behind Andy's beach bar. That makes a lovely walk for nature lovers as it crosses the sandhills which are designated Sites of Scientific Interest. The car park can get full during peak season, although I've not seen it full any other time. However, I suppose the location has become very desirable since the walkway was built and the each bars improved as a result. Fortunately, the free spaces opposite are always available. We'd love to welcome you back for future holidays. Update: furniture is now modern, new Ikea. Regards, Sue. owner

Great location with sea view/ beach access and pools

  • 5 of 5

We have 4 children 6 & under including a 5 month old baby & have just returned from a 10 night stay. The apartment was clean and comfortable with everything we needed (including CBeebies & WiFi!). Terrace overlooks a pool ideal for children with steps & gradual increase in depth & was never very busy. Direct beach access was just what we were looking for & weren't disappointed. Capobino beach through the woods was fine with a pram once past the initial steep incline /steps & beach there has fine sand and very safe bathing for children. Boardwalk going from outside apartment was a nice walk the other way. We hired a car - Marbella was a lovely day out & Ronda was spectacular. Although no designated parking, we always managed to park OK in the gated car park. We found everything we needed in the supermarkets close by. We had a lovely break & would definitely recommend!

Comfortable apartment in a great location.

We had a lovely holiday here, excellent location for beach, pool, restaurants and supermarkets. The apartment and pools within the complex are clean and tidy. The terrace is nice and big with a great view of the sea. Perfect place for a relaxing week in the sun.

Lovely location

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to this apartment we love the location and above all the large sunny and comfortable terrace. The terrace overlooks the beach and is a wonderful place to sit and relax and enjoy the view. The excellent Luna beach restaurant and bar is a favourite haunt, great food, great service and on the beach what else could you want, our other favourite nearby is Royal Beach 5mins along the walkway. Again perfect position lovely food and great gin and tonic! The apartment complex is quiet and well maintained and just across the road are 2 supermarkets, a couple of restaurants, ATM machine so everything you really need. The apartment is conveniently located between Cabo Pino and El Zoco if you want more bars and restaurants. Both are 10-15mins walk in either direction, the newly constructed walkway has made such a difference to this strip of coast. If you enjoy walking you can go for miles in either direction we often walked into La Cala and got the bus back or vice versa, the bus stops right outside the apartment. The beach at Cabo Pino is great for something more lively two excellent beach bars with both La Lonja (Elvis on a Sunday is a must!) and Andys. The apartment itself is clean, spacious and comfortable and has all the requirements we could need. Sue was great to deal with all very easy and efficient and any problems there are local agents a phone call away. We will certainly be back
