Fornalutx sits in a valley of the Tramuntana mountains in Mallorca and is considered to be one of the prettiest villages in Spain. In spring and autumn the air is scented with the perfume of orange blossom from the citrus groves that tumble down to this honey coloured stone village. The village itself is a tranquil location where one can relax with only the sound of the tinkling of sheep bells disturbing the peace. With 3 cafes, 4 restaurants, bank, pharmacy, gift shops and mini-supermarket it is easy to stay and relax or use the village as a base for walking and cycling. 10 minutes by car will bring you to the beach at Port of Soller or Soller itself with its Art Nouveau architecture and greater variety of shops and its food market. 20 minutes by car will bring you to Deia and further along to Valdemossa. Palma itself is a picturesque train ride away or a 45 minute car journey where one can take in the Cathedral, Arab baths, a number of art galleries and shopping.

Beautiful, stone village house with stunning mountain views.
average rating of 5.0 based on 11 reviews

Fantastic rustic house with mod cons and stunning location, even better than these pictures suggest!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I arrived to find an immaculate house in surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. If you are looking for a relaxed and laid back holiday, this is it. The village has a great bakery for good bread and pastries for breakfast in the morning only 2 mins walk away in the village square as well as good bars and restaurants throughout the village (so I had no worries about having a drink).

Wendy was very helpful when I was booking the place and the house is full of guide books and recommendations for walks around the local area and things to do on the island in general. Sa Colabra and Formentor beaches are definately worth a visit.

Another thing I personally found helpful was the washing machine meaning we only had to take a small case of clothes on the plane. Plus the AC in the bedroom!

Overall we a fantastic time and I couldn't praise the house enough which just added to the enjoyment of the holiday as we could enjoy the space itself rather than being 'couped up' in a hotel room.

Superb village house in amazing location

  • 5 of 5

Our second stay in this lovely village cottage. Fantastically well equipped with a very homely feeling.

Outstanding views of the mountains and valley.

Perfect location for walking whether short circular village walks or longer day trips.

Lovely walk to Port Soller, tram back to Soller and further walk back to the cottage.

Many thanks Wendy for letting us stay in your lovely home.

We will be back again next year.

Fantastic, cozy little stone house in one of the most quaint and beautiful villages in Mallorca!

  • 5 of 5

Overall experience was great. Wendy was very responsive from the start and helped to make sure, that our planning and organization for our weekend in Mallorca went smoothly.

Once we arrived at the stone house in Fornalutx, we were floored. The town is quite and charming, and in the midst lies Wendy's charming house. Beautifully decorated, clean, and well equipped (WiFi, AC, kitchen had everything we needed to cook, fresh towels), the house features a beautiful terrace and private garden filled with local flowers. The view of the nearby mountain range is simply stunning.

Highly recommend this rental for couples, and we are sure to be back next year!

A House full of Character in a Quiet Town Surrounded by Natural Beauty

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Mallorca and although expectations weren't too high, we looked around the mountainous regions in the West and stumbled across La Paz, this beautiful home of Wendy's. Our expectations were totally exceeded of Mallorca. We spent most of the time around the Moutain regions, from the LightHouse in the north to Deia in the South West. Fornalutx was absolutely charming though. A beautiful old town built on the hillside, full of little alleyways and cobbled streets. Orange and Lemon Groves were dotted around the landscape of the town and Olive trees in nearly every garden.

The house itself was split over 3 levels. The Living and Bedroom on the first floor (top floor) that you walk in to from the narrow street outside. The bedroom has a terrace with stunning views over a part of the town and the mountains beyond. The living and bedroom were sympathetically decorated in relation to the building, which had extremely thick walls, little cubby holes with wooden doors hiding away games and playing cards, plenty of antique looking artwork and artefacts. Very homely feeling.

Downstairs you have a bathroom and doors out to the enclosed garden sat underneath the bedroom terrace. A very calm and private area to sit outside and relax.

Downstairs again and you enter the Dining Room and Kitchen. The kitchen was full of all the stuff you would need to cook with, plus a load of herbs, spices and oils. The dining room then has an external door out in to one of the many alleyways that Fornalutx is riddled with.

Wendy was very quick at responding and provided a lot of good information before the trip. At the house, there was also a lot of information about the area and, in particular, a set of local walks were printed out and available to use. We didn't realise when we booked the trip just how well suited Mallorca, particularly the mountainous area that we were in, was for hikers. The wooden signs don't only tell you which direction you're heading in, but how long the walk should take to get from one village to another.

This is definitely a place that we would return to. A great holiday, within a great town and the house was full of character and had a homely cosy feel to it. Perfect.

Beautiful cottage in stunning location with great

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful Mallorcan cottage is situated in what must be the prettiest village on Mallorca. The views from the terraces are wonderful. The cottage is beautifully furnished and feels like a home rather than a rental. Lots of antique furniture and art. Well equipped and a comfy bed in a lovely bedroom complete with terrace. The ground floor terrace is a romantic patio with lots of plants and a much appreciated covered area. Lots of candles too. Fornalutx is perfectly placed for beautiful walks and we recommend the walk from Fornalutx to Soller, through orange groves & seeing the mountains at their best. We caught the tram from Soller to Port de Soller which is worthwhile and where you can hire boats to explore the coast by sea. Fornalutx has a bakery, supermarket, cafe & restaurants all minutes from the cottage. We loved Fornalutx and highly recommend this property. The owner has promptly replied to all correspondence and provided great directions to the property. We hope to return.

Feels like home

  • 5 of 5

Definitely feels like home. The location is perfect, close to the public place where you can find the grocery store, restaurants and a bakery. The view from the 2 terraces are amazing, even more better than the pictures. The house is really well equipped (fridge, freezer, dishwasher, utensils, washing machine, juice extractor (perfect since you are in a orange valley! They are so good we will miss it) etc...) The owner responded very well to our questions, even during the stay. We visited during warm days but the house was comfortable at night, no need for AC. The only downside is not having internet, that would have been useful to plan our days during the stay, instead of going out to a cafe.

We highly recommend the place.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for taking the trouble to review my house and I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay. I have looked into getting internet at the property but unfortunately the broadband allocation for the village has been used up! I'm waiting for them to release more.
