Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday home in El Palo

Close to beaches and all amenities

This is a large (270m2 habitable) lovely old house in a very quiet environment. It overlooks a quiet street of Malaga neighborhood called El Palo, to the east of the historic center of the city. When my grandfather bought it in 1907, it belonged to the widow of a famous composer in Spain, Eduardo Ocón. Málaga Conservatory of Music named after him. She kept the character of the time: large bright rooms, decorated with frescoes, high ceilings (4m30 ground floor and the 1st floor), tile floors and marble, pebble mosaic terrace, shaded courtyard patio.

The beaches of Palo (600m from the house) are urban beaches of gray sand. Artificial cracks were appointed for 20 years. These beaches are lined for a walk 3km (the paseo marítimo) with palm trees and lined amount of 'merenderos' small shaded outdoor restaurants where you can eat well at affordable prices. They are cleaned every day. There is little tourism abroad ', mostly Spanish families and the people of Malaga. Tourists rather stay west of the city towards Torremolinos and beyond. The area is very nice, with the mountains behind and many beautiful walks to do. Granada is 1h1 / 2 drive, Seville 2 hours. Many medium-sized cities and beautiful villages ('pueblos blancos de los Montes de Málaga') are nearby. There are all kinds of shops within walking distance including a supermarket and a traditional daily market.

The stop of the bus into the historic center line of the city (20 minutes) is 300m and 'Ronda de Málaga' (autovía device that goes in Torremolinos Motril) is about 1 km north of the house.

The historic center of Malaga, in great part pedestrian, lacks neither charm nor interest: many streets, alleys and lively squares, Arabic Palace, Roman Theatre, Picasso museum, Carmen Thyssen Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, archdiocese , churches, etc.

Great place to relax and enjoy.

  • 5 of 5

The house was better than the pictures, huge and with a lovly back garden where we enjoyed long dinners. I love a bit of character and this one had loads of it!! It was a few chilly days when we were here but all the rooms had heaters so it wasnt really a problem. There is a supermarket around the corner with a good selection and fresch fish counter. Perfect place to relax with friends. We enjoyed quite a few days on the beach and a few in malaga, it was easy to get around with bus and a cab back from the town center only cost round 11 euro. The owners brother was at hand to help out, and even doe im quite bad at both spanish and french we managed to communicate, he was very helpful. It was clean and the kitchen was fully ecuiped, showers were hot and we didnt miss anything really.

Fantastically charming house with lovely garden!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 4 adults and 6 children stayed in this lovely house for some days over Easter holidays. It is a nice, old and "rustic" house with a lot of atmosphere and a great garden for playing and relaxing under the lemon trees.

The house was a perfect size for our group and the owner had prepared everything very well for our stay. It was a bit cold in the March mornings and nights, but the house was easily heated up with the stoves provided. During summer it should be perfect!

The house is only a 5 minute walk from the shops of El Palo, and another 5 minutes to the beach. Great fish restaurants all along beach front, with freshly grilled fish tapas! The restaurant El Tintero is a must! Only 20min by bus into Malaga centre if one wants big city life.

The house is highly recommended for people who want to stay somewhere a bit special and atmospheric rather than the average soulless modern apartment complex. Will definitively come again!

Prachtig huis

  • 4 of 5

Prima woning!
