About Barbara Walbrecht
We are excited to meet new people and hopefully give you the best VRBO experience you'll ever have! We are people of deep faith and try to always act with honesty and integrity. My husband and I are 50+ year old empty nesters. My husband is a GIS programmer who works in Washington D.C. For the past 30 years, my life has revolved around my four children who are still my pride and joy. All four children are now married, and we have three grandchildren -- all boys! In between life events, I manage other property, teach piano lessons and do volunteer work. When we get free time, we like to read, play games or watch Netflix. I love romances and comedies, and Karl loves action movies and documentaries. We aren't foodies, but we'll never say no to good ice cream. ;-) I always expect the best from people, and I'm rarely disappointed.

Why Barbara Walbrecht chose Stafford
We love Stafford! It's where the the culture and sophistication of the North meets the warm-hearted friendliness of the South. Although my husband commutes into Washington D.C. every day, we are thankful to live in a small town!

Stafford Basement Apartment
This property needs some updating. It was clean and the space very roomy but the furnishings were very old, the oven didn't work and the linens were terrible. . . pillows especially. We were told that dogs weren't allowed yet the upstairs people had a dog. That was disappointing. The worst part was the noise from upstairs. There should be a warning that light sleepers shouldn't stay there. We were supposed to stay 4 nights and ended up only staying for 2 because of the terrible noise from upstairs in the middle of the night that went on and on.
I am sorry and surprised that Pat had difficulty with the oven and that he didn't like the linens. My guests regularly use the oven, and no one has had trouble with it before. I will check to make sure that it's working properly. The sheets and pillowcases are 100% cotton and were purchased in April of this year. This is the first complaint I've received about pillows. I have a variety of pillows, none of which is more than two years old. They all have pillow protectors on them. I will take time to evaluate their condition right away and throw out old ones and purchase fresh ones as needed.
I am so sorry that guests brought a dog upstairs! It is a service animal, and my guest didn't let me know that she would be bringing her service animal. She has told me since, however, that the dog is very well-behaved and certainly didn't make noise in the night, so I'm not sure what Pat was hearing. Although I'm required to accept service animals unless there is "a threat to health or safety", I am very careful to keep my home pet-free, because my family suffers from extreme allergies. I would have greatly appreciated communication letting me know that there was a dog upstairs so that I could have dealt with the situation quickly.
I try to keep open communication with my guests and would certainly have addressed Pat's issues had he let me know that he was having trouble. In addition to speaking with the guests upstairs, I could have let him know that they checked out early on in his stay, and after that time he was alone in the house.
I suspect that Pat is feeling especially unhappy with his stay because he kindly asked if he could bring his dog, and I wouldn't let him. His frustration is completely understandable. However, guests aren't required to notify me when they bring service animals, and since neither the guests with the animal nor Pat let me know, I was unable to help solve the problem.
Having guests upstairs is a temporary situation. For future stays, I will be upstairs rather than another guest, and I'm super careful to be quiet and available.
