About the property

Award winning holiday home situated in Scotlands most preserved Historic Village

Award winning holiday home situated in Scotlands most preserved Historic Village.

The location could not be better, smack bang in the middle of Luss Village. Luss is unlike any other Village in the Uk, preserved more or less as it was in the 19th century. Strict planning laws and high property prices have left this tiny Village almost unchanged. The perfect place for anyone visiting to fully relax and to take in the genuine Loch Lomond spirit.

We all want our guests to feel the 5 star status we have been awarded. From cleaning, maintenance and customer service we take great pride in providing the best for our guests. We love this house and its history but we never forget that its here for you to have a great vacation so use it to the full and have a great time.

The Strone is a 5 star graded, 4 bedroom holiday home which is situated in the village of Luss within the Loch Lomond national Park Scotland. Sleeping up to 10 guests your booking at The Strone comes complete with many quality features that you would not find with standard holiday lets. Complementary mountain bikes, canoe, welcome food pack and large bbq are some of the features included in your reservation. Our guests with childen love the large secure private garden complete with play house and swings.

A perfect example of new meets very old. This property began life as a crofter's cottage in 1850 and had an extension in original local stone built in the 1990s. Our extensive renovation of the property in 2013 included a full refit of all internal fittings and furniture.

Glasgow City and airport are a 40 minute drive from the property and Edinburgh airport can be reached in around 1 hour by car. The village itself has local services for food and dining with larger shops available in Balloch which can be reached by water bus or taxi.

We offer a range of in house services including concierge, housekeeping and catering. Our concierge can prepare the property to your specifications before your arrival including baby packs, flowers and a kitchen full of your requested food.

Explore the endless cycle routes on The Strone bicycles available in all sizes or take to the water on The Strone Canadian canoe, all at your disposal.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is by far the most outstanding holiday home I have ever rented and been lucky enough to stay in.It is in short First Class accommodation.

The property has been renovated to the highest standard and has facilities I can only dream of having at home. The master bedroom is to die for, they have kept many of the original features through out the property whilst adding all modern equipment making it infact your dream home. The fixtures and fittings are of first class quality as is the bedding, towels and crockery supplied. The dining area is fabulous for large family dinners, the kitchen has a dishwasher, two ovens a hob a chill cabinet as well as the fridge and freezer, there is also a microwave and halogen grill available. There is a washing machine and outside drying area. There is a flat screen tv and access to the internet they also have a uk land line. And whoever the cleaners are can I please have their number? The garden is fantastic with something for everyone to do, from a child's play park area, child's garden house, patio set (better than my own at home) a gas barbecue, bicycles, a canoe which can be used in the loch which is only a five minute walk away. They even supply life jackets and helmets. There is also a midge machine which works really well and sadly is a must in Scotland, may need to consider investing in one at home. In short they have thought of everything and then some.Well done guys, we will be back!!

Perfect stay in the most beautiful location!

  • 5 of 5

I'm not sure any review I leave here can do justice to just how fantastic our stay was.

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome in a home away from home! Colette greeted us and made sure that we had everything we needed for our weekend ahead celebrating my sisters 30th birthday with the whole family. She'd went out of her way to add special little touches which really added to the excitement of the stay.

The house itself is stunning with everything that you could possibly need. Very spacious with large family rooms and beautiful bedrooms so that you also had your own little peace of tranquillity.

The surroundings of the house are lovely, with us taking advantage of the sunny weather using the bikes which were provided and going for nice long walks.

We were so sad to leave the house, but have made so many precious memories together and can't wait to return in the near future!

Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay!

We were a group of 10 people and we had a very good time! The house is fully enjoyable in good and bad weather. The kitchen was absolutely equipted. Nothing was missing. The rooms and all the house in general very well decorated. The only thing to say is that the heating system could have been better. It felt a bit cold during the night. Despite that small thing everything was just perfect!! We will definitely come back!
