About Sam Gifford

I am 65 years old, play guitar, build Pegasus Cases with my partner Susie, and all summer I provide outdoor public address systems around Central Scotland.

Sam Gifford purchased this apartment in 1989

Why Sam Gifford chose Perthshire

The Stable Loft is a family home, originally purchased as part of the Foss Home Farm hamlet by my parents in the early 60's. It became a bolt-hole from the city and school life in Edinburgh.

Feels like home

  • 5 of 5

For us, this was a perfect place to stay, beautiful situated at a lake (Loch). The house was just like home. Sometimes the small details give you the feeling that you are really at home and that was what this place was for us.

We loved it to be here and would have love to stay another week if that would have been possible (for us).

The main locations to visit were a bit far (like Loch Ness, Glenfinnan or Stirling) but who cares when you have to drive through the beautiful high lands. And when you return and you sit by the waterline at you campfire, you know you are on vacation!

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely few days away from the busy routine of work. The loft had everything we needed. Wine and homemade lemon drizzle cake was a lovely welcome. The views were amazing and our 2 dogs had a great time on the forestry walks. The wood burner was lovely to come back to on the cold days. Aberfeldy had some lovely shops and we had a very nice coffee and scone at the cinema. We would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing time. We couldn't fault our stay here. Thanks to Sam who made us feel very welcome.

Fabulous stay!! Awesome views!!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Stable Loft. The home was situated on a beautiful loch in one of the most peaceful places I've ever been. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. It was very cozy and warm even in October. Sam was extremely helpful and available and had some basic food items and delicious lemon cake for us when we arrived. It was in a great central location for exploring the Highlands, Kenmore, and Aberfeldy and was not too far for some coastal exploration. I only regret that we did not have more time to linger at the house and just rest. Would love to come back.

Thanks Sam for sharing your home!

Fantastic apartment with wonderful view

  • 5 of 5

The name Stable Loft suggests accommodation that might be small but this was a spacious apartment. It was very clean, comfortable and presented to a very high standard. The accommodation was extremely well appointed with everything that you need to make your holiday. There were some lovely extra touches including milk, butter, eggs, wine and lemon cake. The view of Loch Tummel was fantastic from the large window in the lounge and the peace and tranquility we experienced when we were there helped us to have a relaxing time. We also loved having access to the canoe and spending time on the Loch and we even got my parents who are in their 70s out for a wee paddle. Unfortunately the weather was not good enough to use the campfire area at the loch side. It wasn't quite cold enough either to have the wood burning stove on but could imagine this would be great in the winter. We did however have breakfast one morning on the sheltered terrace admiring the views. We spotted a red squirrel and ducklings from the bedroom window. The accommodation is within easy distance of Pitlochry and Aberfeldy. We would love to stay here again and would thoroughly recommend it. Thanks to Sam and Susie - you've got it spot on!

Unvergesslicher Urlaub in traumhafter Lage

  • 5 of 5

Owner's Response: If you put their review of the Stable Loft through Google translate, you'll see that Mike and Sylvia had a lovely time here at The Stable Loft. I definitely enjoyed their visit and was glad to see them using the fire and everything else. It's a pleasure to have guests who settle in and take their holidays seriously. I hope they went home having relaxed and feeling that it was value for money etc . You know what I mean. Sam

Situated in an area of significant scenic beauty, The Stable Loft at Foss on Loch Tummel lies in the very heart of the Scottish Highlands. The area is perfect for walking holidays combined with scotch whisky tastings and authentic Scottish activities like Highland Games and music. In Pitlochry is the world-famous Festival Theatre with a full program of events through the year. Blair Castle in Blair Atholl is the home of the Duke of Atholl, and is a treasure trove of Scottish historical artefacts, and has strong links with the Covenanter Movement of the 17th century. The Duke of Atholl has his own small private regiment, The Atholl Highlanders, who are the UK's and indeed Europe's only legal private army, and who gather every year to parade for the Duke in late May.

The Stable Loft in the Winter months is only ninety minutes drive to all the major Scottish ski resorts, and this is reflected in the summer with good access in all directions to discover the whole of Scotland.
