Rarity Breaks - Russell Gardens

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,022 sq. ft.
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 10 min walk from the West End.

The apartment is comprised of:

One master bedroom with a double, sleigh-style bed, two bedside tables, two bedside lights, two large built-in wardrobes and a large chest of drawers. There is also an en suite shower-room with WC, sink, shower unit, shaving socket, ample counter space, fitted cabinets for personal belongings and a heated towel rail.

One double bedroom with solid pine bed frame, two bedside tables, two bedside lamps, a built-in wardrobe with a tall chest of drawers.

One twin bedroom, a shared bedside table and table lamp between the beds and a very large built-in wardrobe.

A main bathroom with WC, sink, a bath with shower over it, a shaving socket and heated towel rail.

A cupboard by the main door to store jackets, bags, shoes and umbrellas (we provide a couple of umbrellas for you to use during your stay, just in case you need them).

A well-equipped kitchen to meet all your culinary needs. We have a gas hob, fan-assisted electric oven, fridge freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, radio, excellent selection of cooking utensils, pots, pans, mixing bowls. To ensure you have enough dishes and do not need to run the dishwasher after every meal, there is enough tableware for 12 full place settings (main plates, side plates, bowls, large glasses, small glasses, wine glasses and cutlery).

A living/dining room with views out to the well maintained, neighbourhood gardens. To ensure you are as comfortable as possible, we have recently added two new three-seater leather sofas to the living room and eight large cushions. There is also a beautiful new oak dining table that seats six; perfect for hosting a family meal or for playing board games at. There is a 40 inch HDTV in the living room with Free view television channels and an Xbox 360, which can be used to play region 2 DVDs and Xbox 360 games (a small selection of DVDs and games are provided at the apartment). Please note that the Xbox 360 is not connected to the internet.

If you wish to connect your laptop or tablet to the TV, you can do so via an HDMI cable (or the TV's 'PC input', although this is for video only and the audio will still play through your device).

As of late 2014, all our mattresses are brand new (and are 'medium to firm') and we have also installed high-speed, fibre optic wireless in the apartment.

There is limited free (on street) parking within a 1 minute walk. Parking directly outside the apartment is by permit only. One permit is available for guests to use; there is no charge for this service, but £30 will be deducted from the deposit if the permit is not returned at the end of your stay.

The apartment is on the ground floor, making it ideal for families with children. It's also accessible for guests who have minor mobility problems (please note that, because there are a few steps up to the main door, the apartment is not wheelchair accessible).

For guests with allergies, we do not use feather pillows or duvets. Our towels and bed linen are 100% cotton and they are washed in non-biological detergent for delicate skin.

If you do not require the use of all three bedrooms, we are able to offer a small discount; please contact us for further details.

A welcome pack is included and consists of bread, milk, butter, bacon, free range eggs, orange juice, and shortbread.

Energy Performance Certificate Rating: D

I also own property number 6965477 (Gilmours Entry in the city centre), a lovely apartment which sleeps 4 guests in 2 double bedrooms. For further information, simply search for the property number in the site's main search box.

About Maya

I was born and raised just outside of Edinburgh and I have lived here all my life. I love to travel and experience other cultures, but I always love returning to my beautiful "home town". I adore this city and I chose to buy and refurbish this property with my family so I could help others enjoy Edinburgh, too.

I graduated in 2000 as a theatre administrator and go the theatre as regularly as I can. I also enjoy reading, sewing, scuba diving, listening to live music and cooking meals for friends and family. If there's anything you'd like to know about me, please ask.

Maya purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Maya chose Dalry

The apartment is bright, spacious, well-presented and has a well-equipped kitchen. It's only a 2-3 minute walk from the nearest tram stop (and is only two tram stops from the West End). Although the location is close to the city centre, it's situated in a quiet residential area; perfect for enjoying the bustle of the city during the day, then retiring to a comfortable apartment for peace and quiet after a long day of sightseeing and taking in the local culture. It's on the ground floor, making it ideal for families with children. It's also more accessible for guests who have mild mobility problems. Please note that, because there are a few steps up to the main door, the apartment is not wheelchair accessible.

What makes this apartment unique

There is free residents' parking available immediately outside, which is unusual for properties in Edinburgh, making it an ideal apartment for guests travelling to Edinburgh by car. Use of the parking permit is included in the rental and the parking permit is given to guests on arrival.

Stay at Rarity Breaks

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful stay. First, Maya, the owner, was extremely friendly, helpful, and reliable. The property was exactly as described, clean, well equipped, close to public transportation. I would stay here again or recommend this property to my friends/family if they traveled to Edinburgh. Excellent experience!!

Lovely personal Scottish welcome in a great apartment close to city centre

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 only have good things to say about this apartment and it’s lovely owner, Maya! Her personal welcome and friendly advice about how to get around Edinburgh made our stay very easy. The apartment was very clean and the welcome pack of breakfast goodies was the best we have ever had in holiday accommodation. Maya’s efforts to make this a home away from home were very appreciated and we would recommend this apartment to anyone staying in Edinburgh for convenience, cleanliness, good firm mattresses, easy transport links and a great hostess!

A spacious and lovely apartment; a gracious and lovely host!

  • 5 of 5

This property was exactly as described, and perfect for our party of six adults. The apartment was well-equipped, and conveniently located a short bus ride to all of the downtown attractions. Maya was helpful and responsive from beginning to end, and her suggestions for local pubs and restaurants were fine. We hope to return to Edinburgh one day, and will certainly try to stay at one of the Rarity Breaks properties if we do!

This apartment is splendid!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was even better than described! Very clean, obviously well maintained and well appointed with everything we needed. Located in a nice neighborhood with easy access to Edinburgh city center via bus and tram. There's a small local supermarket and other places to grab a takeaway within walking distance. The owner, Maya, was very responsive even before we got there and had provided us with information about sights to see, good places to eat, etc. She greeted us upon our arrival and saw us off as we were leaving. She could not have been nicer. We felt like she was a friend by the end of it! Plus, she wanted to know if we thought she could improve anything in the apartment but we really could not come up with anything. It was a perfect place for us to stay (there was five of us) and we would highly recommend this property.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for staying, and also for sharing your thoughts; it's much appreciated. I'm most pleased to hear that my apartment surpassed your expectations, and that you found it so clean and well-maintained. I'm also glad that the location worked so well for you during your time here, and that you liked the neighbourhood. The quiet, residential cul-de-sac allows you to get away from the bustle of the city, yet the proximity to the local supermarket, bus/tram stops, and the city centre makes this a perfect location for a city break. These were all very important factors to me when I chose this specific apartment for my holiday rental property, and I'm glad to hear you liked it for the same reasons, too! It was my pleasure to help you ahead of your arrival, and to provide suggestions and recommendations for your stay; I'm glad to hear they were useful. I'm pleased to hear that you had everything you needed, and that you couldn't think of anything for me to improve on. It was wonderful to meet you all, and also to welcome you to my apartment. I hope our paths cross again in the future, as I'd love to welcome you back. Until then, I hope you all stay well, and have safe and pleasant travels. Sending my very best wishes to you all. Maya.

Just like home!

  • 5 of 5

Maya was easy to contact, quick to respond, and a pleasure to meet. The flat is fully fitted with anything and everything we could have possibly needed. She greeted us and walked us through the workings of the appliances and nearby shops and eats. We were having unrelated car rental difficulties and she even offered to go online and help from her end as we were at the train station! The wifi in the flat is superb by the way:)

We will happily look to her first when we return to Edinburgh. Well done, Maya! We cannot think of anything for you to improve upon. Your welcome pack in the kitchen and your upbeat attitude are unsurpassed.

The apartment is situated in a quiet, residential area, yet is only 15 minutes walk from Haymarket train station at the West End of Princes Street.

On foot, we are only a few minutes away from frequent bus and tram links. Both Murrayfield Stadium and the Murrayfield tram stop are situated across the road from each other and are less than 5 minutes away from the apartment. The rather beautiful Water of Leith is a couple of minutes away and Murrayfield Ice Rink is less than 10 minutes away.

There is a modestly-sized Tesco on the main road (2 minutes away) as well as a selection of local restaurants, cafes and bars in the immediate vicinity. If you are staying for more than a few days and wish to stock up on food and drink, there is a large Sainsburys supermarket less than 10 minutes walk away.

Edinburgh is a beautiful and welcoming city with a rich culture and interesting history. Whether you’re here for the Edinburgh Festival, rugby season, to use the apartment as a base to tour the surrounding areas or just to relax with friends and family, we are sure you will enjoy your time here. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, clubs, theatres, museums, cinemas and shops. With some stunning architecture, Edinburgh Castle and the Scott Monument are at the heart of the city and there are a number of historic tours and sites you can visit during your stay.
