Overview

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday apartment in Dalry - Russell Gardens

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, 10 min Walk From The West End.

The apartment is comprised of:

One master bedroom with a double, sleigh-style bed, two bedside tables, two bedside lights, two large built-in wardrobes and a large chest of drawers. There is also an en suite shower-room with WC, sink, shower unit, shaving socket, ample counter space, fitted cabinets for personal belongings and a heated towel rail.

One double bedroom with solid pine bed frame, two bedside tables, two bedside lamps, a built-in wardrobe with a tall chest of drawers.

One twin bedroom, a shared bedside table and table lamp between the beds and a very large built-in wardrobe.

A main bathroom with WC, sink, a bath with shower over it, a shaving socket and heated towel rail.

A cupboard by the main door to store jackets, bags, shoes and umbrellas (we provide a couple of umbrellas for you to use during your stay, just in case you need them).

A well-equipped kitchen to meet all your culinary needs. We have a gas hob, fan-assisted electric oven, fridge freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, radio, excellent selection of cooking utensils, pots, pans, mixing bowls. To ensure you have enough dishes and do not need to run the dishwasher after every meal, there is enough tableware for 12 full place settings (main plates, side plates, bowls, large glasses, small glasses, wine glasses and cutlery).

A living/dining room with views out to the well maintained, neighbourhood gardens. To ensure you are as comfortable as possible, we have recently added two new three-seater leather sofas to the living room and eight large cushions. There is also a beautiful new oak dining table that seats six; perfect for hosting a family meal or for playing board games at. There is a 40 inch HDTV in the living room with Free view television channels and an Xbox 360, which can be used to play region 2 DVDs and Xbox 360 games (a small selection of DVDs and games are provided at the apartment). Please note that the Xbox 360 is not connected to the internet.

If you wish to connect your laptop or tablet to the TV, you can do so via an HDMI cable (or the TV's 'PC input', although this is for video only and the audio will still play through your device).

As of late 2014, all our mattresses are brand new (and are 'medium to firm') and we have also installed high-speed, fibre optic wireless in the apartment.

There is limited free (on street) parking within a 1 minute walk. Parking directly outside the apartment is by permit only. One permit is available for guests to use; there is no charge for this service, but £30 will be deducted from the deposit if the permit is not returned at the end of your stay.

The apartment is on the ground floor, making it ideal for families with children. It's also accessible for guests who have minor mobility problems (please note that, because there are a few steps up to the main door, the apartment is not wheelchair accessible).

For guests with allergies, we do not use feather pillows or duvets. Our towels and bed linen are 100% cotton and they are washed in non-biological detergent for delicate skin.

If you do not require the use of all three bedrooms, we are able to offer a small discount; please contact us for further details.

A welcome pack is included and consists of bread, milk, butter, bacon, free range eggs, orange juice, shortbread, one bottle of red wine and one bottle of white wine.

About Maya

I was born and raised just outside of Edinburgh and I have lived here all my life. I love to travel and experience other cultures, but I always love returning to my beautiful 'home town'. I adore this city and I chose to buy and refurbish this property with my family so I could help others enjoy Edinburgh, too.

I graduated in 2000 as a theatre administrator and go the theatre as regularly as I can. I also enjoy reading, sewing, listening to live music and cooking meals for friends and family. If there's anything you'd like to know about me, please ask.

Maya purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Maya chose Edinburgh

The property is bright, spacious and well presented. It's on the ground floor, making it ideal for families with children. It's also more accessible for guests who have mobility problems. Please note that, because there are a few steps up to the main door, the apartment is not wheelchair accessible.

What makes this apartment unique

The primary reason I chose this apartment is the location.

During your stay, you have the benefit of staying in a quiet, little cul-de-sac, while being a mere 10 minutes from the West End. What more could you wish for?

Great place to stay in Edinburgh!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Maya’s place for 3 nights and couldn’t have been happier with our experience. The suite is very nice and suited our group perfectly with everyone having their own space yet still having lots of common spaces as well. Maya met us at the apartment and gave us a thorough introduction to both the apartment and Edinburgh in general. She even asked around and got back to us about where to find some specific items we were looking for.

The apartment is in a very convenient area, close to public transport and walking distance to the main attractions if you feel like a bit of a walk. It is very well equipped and we had no difficulty doing some of our own food prep, as well as some greatly needed laundry. Maya left us enough food to keep us going for a bit when we first got there and even left us a bottle of wine! There is a great local pub on the corner and a well-stocked convenience store a 5 minute walk away. Overall, I can’t recommend Maya’s place enough and would love to return sometime!

Great apartment for family stay in Edinburgh

  • 5 of 5

Great apartment. Very spacious and comfortable with very well equipped kitchen. Easy access to the trams and walkable from Haymarket (10 mins or so). We were staying for the festival so not there a lot but when we were it was a great place to unwind. Maya was very helpful before and during our stay. Edinburgh is great too!

Great place to stay! Would definitely stay here again.

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is just as described in terms of amenities and location. It was clean and well maintained. The customer service provided by the owner, Maya, makes this a real gem. We arrived a bit late in the evening, and were pleasantly surprised to have had the kitchen already stocked for breakfast. She is also a fabulous resource on Edinburgh, and was quick to respond to our queries via email. She even phoned around on our behalf to answer our questions. Almost like having a concierge with the apartment.

The parking is easy, and keeps you out of the fray of downtown Edinburgh. It was nice to return to a quiet flat for the night. Which is especially nice if you need to reset from jetlag as we did.

It was about a 15 minute walk to the nearest train station, and probably 25 minutes to get deep into downtown Edinburgh (Prince's Park) for us (couple with teenage son). A quick taxi ride is easy if you prefer not to walk, and when we called for a taxi it arrived within 15 minutes.

Overall a fabulous home base in Edinburgh!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words, Brandon; it was a pleasure to welcome you and your family to Edinburgh, and I'm delighted to hear I could help you so much during your stay! I'm also pleased to hear you found the location so convenient. The location is one of the main reasons I chose this particular apartment for my holiday rental; it's so close to everything you might need, with a supermarket close by, and a tram stop within a 2-3 minute walk, yet still located within a quiet, little residential cul-de-sac. It's perfect for a trip to Edinburgh, where you can decide whether to have a busy holiday, or a relaxing break away from it all. Thank you again for choosing my apartment for your stay. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your travels, and that I'll have the pleasure of welcoming you all back again some day. Thanks again and warmest wishes to you all. Maya.

A few days in Edinburgh

  • 5 of 5

We have just left Edinburgh where we stayed for a few days to see The Fringe.

Our flat was spacious, clean and welcoming. Maya, the owner, was just lovely!

We had food and drink provided for our arrival and nothing was too much trouble!

We would highly recommend staying at one of Maya's flats.

Owner's Response: I'm so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at my West End apartment for the Edinburgh Festival! I like to make sure my guests have everything they need and, whether it's ensuring they have some food and drink to enjoy on arrival, or I'm giving recommendations for places to eat and making suggestions for activities to do, I'm only ever a call, text or e-mail away. Thanks again for choosing my apartment for your stay; I look forward to welcoming you back. Thanks again and best wishes. Maya.

Comfortable, spacious, safe and well-stocked

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five (with three kids aged 6, 4 and 2) had a wonderful stay at this town home. The beds, bathrooms and the living/dining room are spacious and comfortable. The kids really enjoyed playing in the bedrooms and living room, plenty of space to run around. The big bathtub in the hallway bathroom was perfect for bathing all 3 kids together at once. The neighborhood is quiet and we felt very safe.

The most brilliant and unique aspect of this property is the owner, Maya. From day 1 of our reservation she reached out and provided us with extremely detailed and helpful information about Edinburgh, with periodic updates about the Festival once she had the additional information. She responds to emails immediately. She mets you at the property to welcome you and go through the ins-and-outs of the town home, which is very helpful when done in person. She provides a few much appreciated basic food needs, which was a true life-saver for us when we arrived late in the afternoon to check-in and were able to serve "breakfast for dinner" to our kids. She responded to our texts very quickly when we had questions about Edinburgh during our stay. Maya is special and I wish all owners were like her.

Needless to say, we would stay here again in a heartbeat and we will be recommending this town home to any friend or family member traveling to Edinburgh.

Owner's Response: Hi Hillary, thank you so much for your kind words! I'm most touched to hear you describe me as "the most brilliant and unique aspect of this property", particularly after saying how pleased you were with the apartment itself. I treat each and every one of my guests the way I like to be treated myself when I travel, and I'm delighted to have helped you before, during, and also after your stay here. It was an absolute pleasure to meet you, your husband and children; I couldn't have asked for nicer guests, and I do hope you'll return again some day, as I would love to welcome you all back. Many thanks again for staying, and warmest wishes to you all. Maya.

Great apartment in great location

  • 5 of 5

We came as a family (6 of us) to Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival and stayed in this apartment and had a brilliant time. Its location is fantastic - being just a few minutes walk to the tram and then a couple of stops in to the centre. The apartment itself had everything we needed - the breakfast goods were very much appreciated as was the wine. Maya was a very friendly host making herself always available for help and advice if needed. We would definitely stay here again.

The apartment is situated in a quiet, residential area, yet is only 15 minutes walk from Haymarket train station at the West End of Princes Street.

On foot, we are only a few minutes away from frequent bus and tram links. Both Murrayfield Stadium and the Murrayfield tram stop are situated across the road from each other and are less than 5 minutes away from the apartment. The rather beautiful Water of Leith is a couple of minutes away and Murrayfield Ice Rink is less than 10 minutes away.

There is a modestly-sized Tesco on the main road (2 minutes away) as well as a selection of local restaurants, cafes and bars in the immediate vicinity. If you are staying for more than a few days and wish to stock up on food and drink, there is a large Sainsburys supermarket less than 10 minutes walk away.

Edinburgh is a beautiful and welcoming city with a rich culture and interesting history. Whether you’re here for the Edinburgh Festival, rugby season, to use the apartment as a base to tour the surrounding areas or just to relax with friends and family, we are sure you will enjoy your time here. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, clubs, theatres, museums, cinemas and shops. With some stunning architecture, Edinburgh Castle and the Scott Monument are at the heart of the city and there are a number of historic tours and sites you can visit during your stay.
