An absolute gem!

  • 5 of 5

I booked this wonderful cottage for a short break with my family to use as a base for days out and to visit relatives who live locally. And I'm very glad I did. We were totally bowled over by it. Set in beautiful grounds adjacent to the main residence, this is a fantastic, quiet retreat, well appointed and tastefully decorated. The online photos don't completely do it justice! We were met on arrival by Paul who was very nice and helpful and made us feel very welcome.

All in all a big thumbs up - we heartily recommend Middlewood Cottage.

Style and comfort

Lovely cottage in an idyllic setting. Spacious with stylish furnishing but a comfortable homy feeling. Warm welcome and a great welcoming package after a long drive!! The gym was an added plus for teenage daughters only sorry the weather didn't allow us to enjoy the grounds and tennis courts. Maybe on our next viait

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay at Middlewood Cottage. Its been such a weird and to a degree disappointing summer weather wise, you really cant predict from day to day what its going to be like at the moment. I'm sure you've had a better summer than us back home. Thank you for taking the time out and writing a review for us we really do appreciate it. Hope you are all well

Beautiful, spotless, wel-equipped, fab grounds

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Middlewood Cottage for a long weekend. We were meeting up with extended family so didn't have any plans other than catching up and relaxing. This was the perfect place for it! There were 3 couples and a 1 year old who slept in a travel cot we brought along. There was plenty of space for us all. The furnishings are quality, no expense has been spared which really impresses me. The extras such as the welcome pack of food (for humans and dogs!) was just lovely. Fresh eggs every day, use of the gym and tennis court and loads of DVDs was just fab. The kitchen was well-equipped (apart from kitchen scissors and whisk, no big deal really) and everything was spotlessly clean. And then there are the gardens....WOW! Huge and so much to see, we never tired of wandering around. My little girl especially loved spending time in the gardens. There is a lovely timber marquee with a dining area and a seating area which we would have loved to use had the evenings been warmer. Clitheroe has some lovely shops and we had a delicious afternoon picnic at the Garden Kitchen, Holden Clough Nursery a 10 minute drive a way. What a place, we highly recommend staying and hope to return.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely and informative review. Always appreciate when someone takes the time out to write a review and I know when we look for accommodation Its definitely a factor that edges our decision. Glad you all enjoyed your family gathering and explored the local area. I'm glad you mentioned the garden centre as its a place I've heard a lot about but forgot the name, so maybe even this weekend now we will go give it a go! Hope to see you all again in the near future, Thanks again. Paul, Middlewood Cottage

Wonderful stay in the beautifully appointed cottage. On arrival the cottage and main house and grounds are stunning, lovely surprise and exceeded expectations. Warm welcome from owner and couldn't fault anything, just a first class relaxing break away. Lots of lovely things to do nearby too for both families and couples. Exactly as advertised...but better!

Exceeded Our Expectations

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was perfect and equipped with everything you would need and more. The grounds were beautiful, and in full bloom with spring flowers. The welcome from the owners was friendly and informative and the welcome pack was very thoughtful and appreciated. There are lots of walks close by that offer amazing views of the countryside. Also good pubs and restaurants close by. Looking foward to returning.

Just make sure when you plan your walks that there's a nice pub (or 2)on route so you can stop too rehydrate with whatever beverage you choose ;) Thanks for booking up again we look forward to seeing you soon.
