Peaceful retreat in the heart of Paris

  • 5 of 5

Stayed two rather than 3 nights after our flight was delayed. Apartment is at the top of one flight of stairs that opens onto a communal and secure courtyard. Kitchen was well equipped and came in handy with wonderful grocery, butcher, bakery all within one block. Apartment had nice lighting, shower had very hot water and luxurious towels. Shower has handheld and overhead providing choice of bathing experience. Bed was very comfortable and shades dimmed the room well. Did not use the loft bed, but would be great for families with kids. Very little street noice heard even with windows open. Location is great for most sites are within 1 mile walk or metro is just down the street if you choose to ride. Awesome rental.

Great location, quietness but poorly maintained and indifferent to customers' needs

  • 3 of 5

The greatest assets of the apartment are its location and its quietness despite being in a very busy street. It is spacious, luminous and well spaced. It has the potential to be an excellent vacation choice for 4 people had it been well maintained and with an emphasis on the customers’ needs.

It is obvious that customers are not a priority. The person who delivered the apartment was anything but a hostess. Her welcome was to reprimand me for waiting inside the building with the luggage although my husband was on the street as agreed. She didn’t know how to operate the gas stove and told US to call the technician! When told that we had requested a tea pot she said she was not informed and did nothing to provide it during our stay. That was our first and only human contact during our weekly stay.

The “gorgeous tiled bathroom” is showing clear signs of disrepair, with several tiles detached/missing. There are no hooks to hang towels and the advertised “shower gel, shampoo and hand soap” consisted of 4 hotel size mini bottles filled with water with a few bubbles.

Linen was clean and of good quality.

Cleaning was superficial with several areas full of dust.

The kitchen is poorly equipped. There are a very few glasses of various shapes and sizes among which only one miserable wineglass in the country of wine. Knives don’t include basics i.e a bread knife and a serrated knife. There is no cutting board for bread or salad and the salad strainer does not function. No (manual) juicer. Pots are in a poor condition.

No spare garbage bags. Dish washing liquid was also … enriched with water.

Only one set of keys is provided which means that residents cannot move separately.

To the credit of the management, the refund of the deposit was very quickly processed.

Great location

  • 4 of 5

Great location on a busy street in St Germain with lots of cafes and shops. Despite this the apartment is quite inside. Furniture and beddings are adequate. Bathroom/shower could use some remodeling and the kitchen lacks some amenities, in particular a microwave would be really nice. Wifi was occasionally problematic, but worked well most of the time. Also, only received only one set of keys which made splitting up difficult.

Owner's Response: Dear Kevin, thank you very much for your constructive feedback. We are happy you enjoyed the central yet quiet location of our apartment. We are working with the owner to discuss a possible remodel in the upcoming months to make the flat a bit more modern. As for the Wi-Fi, this is the first time someone has complained about the connection. We have verified it and it seems to be functioning fine now. If for any reason we seemed unapproachable, we apologize, as with a quick phone call or text message we could have easily come over to help you with the connection. We hope that the rest of your travels went well and that you'll be in touch the next time you visit Paris so that we may give you a returning-guest discount. All the best until then!

The property was room and conveniently located. It needed a few improvments but was good value .

  • 3 of 5

It needs improvements to the shower tiles. Improved cutting knives and should provide tea towels and shower mats . Plus a list of English (other other languages) television channels (there are about 1000 channels and it is hard to find news in English)

Owner's Response: Dear Rogers, thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed the very central location of our apartment as well as the spaciousness and value it offers compared to other accommodations in the Saint Germain area. We are working on choosing a new colour scheme to replace the bathroom tiles and make some small renovations. We have purchased a few sharper cutting knives to facilitate cooking and food prep for future guests. We typically provide both tea towels and bath mats so we are very sorry if you did not find them. If we somehow seemed unapproachable, we apologize. We are here to make your stay better. With a quick phone call or email, you can signal any issue to us, and we could have delivered these items while you were out enjoying yourself in the city. We also appreciate your idea regarding a listing of the television channels and will work on creating one so future guests may easily find the channel they are searching for. We hope that the rest of your travels went well and that you'll be in touch the next time you visit Paris so that we may give you a returning-guest discount. All the best until then!

A+ Location; Quirky Apartment

  • 4 of 5

Overall, we would recommend the apartment. The location is fabulous--the heart of the Left Bank on a classic Parisian street filled with life, bakeries and Cafe's. The right bank and it's offerings are a 15 minute walk and the subway (Metro) is a short five minute walk. The apartment is comfortable--beds are good, WIFI works well, the upstairs "loft" was not a problem. TV and washer/dryer are cumbersome to understand--particularly as the accompanying instruction book for the apartment has generic rather than appliance-specific instructions. If you are a light sleeper, there is some morning noise in the building for some reason but street noise is not significant as the apartment is in the back of the building. Our biggest headache was that we lost hot water for 2 and a half days and it took four calls to get action and a fix. A cold shower is not what we signed up for. So all in all we enjoyed the stay and would do it again--primarily for the location rather than for the apartment.

Absolutely perfect for our family.

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was in the best location and really had all the space and privacy we needed. We had our two children ages 11 and 5 with us and they loved the loft bed. The apartment was really quiet and clean enough (the bathrooms could use a little work). It really is a pretty apartment as well. It was amazing to come out of such a quiet apartment everyday to the bustling street of Rue de Buci and all of the cafes and shops right on our doorstep. This apartment is in walking distance from so many wonderful attractions, Notre Dame, Luxembourg Gardens, Latin Quarter, Sorbonne, etc. and there are several Metro stops very close as well. And adding to the character, there is a drunk Frenchman who sets up his chair every night at the door and drinks his bottles and people watches!
