Great views, wonderful accomodation

  • 5 of 5

"We have had a wonderful time here at Domitilla! It was perfect for our party of 5. We were so surprised at the nearness to every attraction we wanted to see. We walked almost everywhere. I will recommend this apartment and hope to return. I did throw 3 coins in the Trevi Fountain and had my husband do the same. Thank you for offering a beautiful location. Lisha and Colin

Stunning location, could do with a little TLC

  • 4 of 5

Stunning location in Central Rome with views of the Vatican, Pantheon, Palazzo Venezia. The apartment is a really good size, with a small elevator leading you to the penthouse. As long as you realize you are staying in someone's home and not an upscale hotel, this is definitely a great choice for your Roman getaway.

I believe the apartment was built in 1969 and in places it looks like it. The sofas are low and very soft. Light switches are in very strange places, often at shin level. The carpeting is worn, especially on the stairs. There is a great, fully equipped, kitchen with a dishwasher and a good washing machine.

Owner's Response: Thank you for writing. In fact, the interior architecture is indeed from the 1960's and designed by one of the period's most famous architects, husband to current owner. It was a great showcase for his work and appeared widely in all sorts of magazines and architectural journals of the period. The home- and it is a home, which is part of its charm- is kept with a great deal of loving care, but also with an interest in preserving this architectural and interior design heritage. Afterall, that is what Rome is all about; 2000 years of architectural treasures, and layer upon layer of history. The terraces , as you point out offer stunning views, and an opportunity to experience Rome's roof tops as only a fortunate few can.

Lovely apartment with great breezes

  • 5 of 5

My family and I enjoyed the apartment very much. When we opened the large windows through the living area, we were treated to great breezes. Adriana (who was our contact) was superbly helpful and responsive.

Owner's Response: I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay. The terrace which gives you views of all of Rome, is indeed magic, for its gentle breezes, as well as its magnificent vistas. Of course, the neighborhood is also the best. As is Adriana! Thank you for writing and do come back. Susan Doull and the Commendable Rentals Team

Perfect location, wonderful views.

  • 5 of 5

I'm giving this place a five star review for a number of reasons. The location is perfect, right in the middle of many Rome attractions. The apartment is spacious with multiple terraces and wonderful views of the rooftops of Rome. Our group included five adults, including my elderly mother with significant mobility issues so it was difficult to find lodging with an elevator/lift and good views for resting. My mother spent many hours bird watching from the terrace, remarking on the gulls and swifts skipping across the rooftops. There is one 1/2 flight of stairs with good railing to reach the lift, and one or two stairs between different levels of the first floor of the apartment where there are two bedrooms and bath with a bathtub and a separate shower. The shower made it possible for my mother to bathe safely. We were greeted by our wonderful host who gave us a full tour and made us all comfortable. There were many amenities about for use. The negatives of the place are not that important, but I will include them for completeness, not as complaining. The light switches were numerous and confusing. The upstairs flooring is rough (is it carpet? plastic? rubber?) and extends into the upstairs bathroom and I think it may be difficult to clean the bathroom floor. The upstairs shower nozzle is difficult to use with many knobs that are a bit confusing. There are perfumed odor products (odor cake/tablet) in the toilet upstairs that permeates the air up there (unpleasant to me). The downstairs bath and shower were much more updated and functional so we all bathed in there. I slept in the upstairs bed that was the most comfortable mattress of all three places I've been in Italy, likely with some memory foam. It was heaven. Overall, this was a fantastic place to stay and I would definitely rent this place again as it was everything I had hoped.

Owner's Response: I am delighted to hear that your trip was a great success and that you were so happy with the apartment. Thank you so much for writing this lovely and helpful review. I will be looking at the apartment again in about 10 days, and will see about the issues that you mentioned and see if we can improve them. I will also make sure that the "odor products" are improved or eliminated. I had not been aware. You are right- the location is superb, and the towers a treasure. Again thank you for writing. A hope that you threw a coin in the fountain and will be back soon. All the best, Susan Doull The Commendable Rentals Team

Step back in history with the most impressive views in the city!

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed staying at this amazing apartment and feeling transported back in time. I loved the original art work, incomparable views, and central city location. We were able to walk to places like the Coliseum without too much trouble, and there were plenty of cappuccino places in the area for morning coffee and pastries. I took beautiful photos from the terraces. Adrianna was very helpful arranging transportation to and from the airport.

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

We had the great pleasure of Renting Domitilla early September 2016. It was my Sisters

Birthday & we wanted to find something very special in Rome. While checking the internet

I came across an Apartment called Domitilla, which immediately caught my Eye.

The apartment was designed in the 60’s and is of its time, beautiful layout / incredibly spacious with 3 terraces & views which I think would be hard to match in Rome.

Spent afternoons being very lazy in the sitting room taking advantage of the Eames Chair

And Ottoman (exceptionally comfortable) & mornings on the Large top terrace enjoying the Sunshine & great views ……….

Location of apartment is brilliant; 10 min walk to the Trevi’s Fountain / 15 min the the Forum & about 20 mins to the Cool shops by the Spanish steps.

Adriana (Our Greeter) could not have been more helpful, did some shopping for us prior to our arrival, Organised Taxi’s from/to the Airport / recommended Restaurants – which we enjoyed very much (All very local – particularly the restaurant behind the apartment, a

Family run place – food was fantastic – recommend the Pasta Carbonara)

Over all, I can highly recommend both Domitilla & Commendable Rentals (looking forward to using the apartment again in 2017)

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind words. We are delighted that you would like to return. The terraces , certainly do make it very special indeed, as does the architect and designers decor. Of course though they did that in the 60's , they building goes back several centuries, as it is in Rome's historic center. It is also a near neighbour of the Quirinale Palace, and one of my favourite Museum's, The Scuderie. I hope that you had a chance to visit! Thank you again, Susan, Adriana , and the Commendable Rentals Team
