Convenient location

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in this apartment in the 2d arrondissement for a little over a week in October 2017, a good month to be there since it's cool enough to keep the windows closed most of the time. This helped to diminish the street noise, as did the solid wooden shutters. The apartment building is well-built so that we did not hear noise from other apartments.

The apartment is in a terrific, safe location, convenient to many museums, e.g., the Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, Pompidou, to which we walked easily. There is a Metro station right at the end of the block as well, for more distant attractions.

We did most of our eating at home and shopped at the nearby Rue Montorgeuil which has excellent shops such as Stohrer's Bakery (founded in 1730!) with the best baguettes we've ever eaten. We were able to get top quality fruit and vegetables and there was a fine butcher too on that same street. There are also small markets near the apartment for such things as milk and juice.

The kitchen in the apartment had whatever equipment we needed to enable us to do our cooking, and the proprietor of the Nicolas wineshop, just steps away, recommended perfect matches for whatever we were eating that day. The bed was comfortable and the living room serviceable, though it did not have a particularly comfortable sofa or strong enough lights for reading. It was convenient to have two bathrooms--the toilet and a sink are in a separate small bathroom near the front door and the larger bath is right off the bedroom (sink, tub/shower only, no toilet).

The apartment is almost adjacent to a fun arcade and several others are within easy walking distance. Just exploring this part of Paris on foot is an enjoyable experience since the architecture of the old buildings is beautiful and fascinating.

When small problems arose, e.g., the elevator stopped running for a short time, the staff of the rental company were responsive and pleasant. The "manual" in the apartment was rather sketchy so we added what we hope were useful tips.

Does the job just fine

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I spent the last 4 nights of our 10 day honeymoon in this apartment. It was in a somewhat quiet neighborhood with stores close by to pick up groceries, wine, and coffee for the morning. Its very near the metro as well as being centrally located so we often decided to walk as attractions were in close proximity.

The apartment was ok. Its been worn in a bit and as this was our honeymoon thought it would be a touch nicer but worked for us.

**Note - the coffee shop was rented out for a private event on the Friday night that we were there and it was a party on the street until 3am.

Owner's Response: Bonjour Meredith, thank you for taking the time to submit a review. We are pleased to know you enjoyed the location of our apartment and that it worked out for your special trip to Paris. . This year, we've had a busier than normal tourist season in Paris. Therefore, we've realized this has put some additional wear on the apartment. As a result, we are taking a short break with the flat to address the maintenance and upkeep issues. We do apologize about the noise coming from the coffee shop down the street. Unfortunately we cannot control their behavior nor their events, but we have spoken with local authorities to see if they can do something to control the noise outside of normal hours. We wish you and your husband the best and many years of happiness together.

Comfy, Spacious and Spotless

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely apartment in a calm and safe area very close to the Opera house (something everyone should visit) . Cafes and shops all around and lots of great lunch places. Super comfortable bed in the bedroom and an excellent quality sofa bed in the living area. The kitchen has what you'd need to whip up something at home but we didn't make much use of it (between the croissants for breakfats, the baguettes at lunch and our dinners outside, there was not much time). I found it a bit difficult to get key out of door the first two days but after contacting Paul the issue was remedied quickly. I can happily recommend this flat which was comfy spacious and spotless.

We had a more than wonderful stay in this flat! The location is simply great, a 1 minute walk to the nearest Metro station, restaurants and shops nearby. The apartment itself is very cute and simple, perfect for a couple or a family with kids. It was cleaner than the hotel we stayed in for one night before arriving here. Paul was very helpful, kind and reactive in all of our email correspondences and his check in assistant, David was charming. We had such a lovely stay and definitely be back if we get visit Paris again!

PERFECT Location - Great Apartment too!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this great apartment for 5 nights. Couldn't have chosen a better location - literally less than 1/4 block out the front door is the Quartre Septembre Metro station - easy to basically go everywhere. Map location on VRBO is in-correct - bldg is on rue de Choiseul between rue du Quatre Septembre & rue St. Augustin - very quiet area with cafes, shops & a fabulous boulangerie less than 3 blocks. We really enjoyed the apartment too! Older building -totally re-done with marble & a decent sized elevator. 2 levels of locking doors for lobby entrance - yet in a very safe neighborhood. We felt very comfortable wandering around at night or coming back late on the Metro and walking the short distance to the front door of the building. With all the good food in Paris we didn't do any real cooking - but was sure nice to have coffee & tea and a refrigerator to keep food cold! Washer & dryer came in handy too given that we were at the end of 3+ weeks in France! There is a large Monoprix (big grocery chain all over France) on the far side of the Ave de l'Opera - head left out of apartment then right on Rue St. Augustin - about a 10 minute walk (go LEFT after crossing over Ave de l'Opera - is a block or so - you can't miss it). Or use Google maps! At grocery stores we bought large wedges of Brie for 2 Euros - less for Goat Cheese; packages of Pate for less than 2 Euros and of course, bagettes of bread for next to nothing. We ending up eating like the French - large meal out at lunch time and then bread, cheese, pate & good wine (also less than 6 Euros in the grocery store!) at dinner. Booking this was easy! Very responsive - spoke/wrote English well. We had the cell phone number of the property manager who was to meet us at a café at a certain time. She took us to the building - showed us how the access worked. Then showed us the apartment & how everything worked - leaving a binder with helpful information and her number again in case we needed to reach her. We would definitely return to this Paris home away from home!
