Comfortable, well equipped house. Well located with great views.
Having returned to Casa Oz this time with our family including 2 young grandsons we had a great 3 week vacation. Bom Sucesso is a great place for young and old alike, especially if you like exploring great beaches and countryside ideal for walks, runs or bike rides.
The 4 restaurants are great for meals or even just drinks, good value and excellent quality, the small shop is ideal for forgotten items or toys for kids……
In all a great place for a holiday in a really well fitted out home close to nature.’
Thank you Jim. Great having you back. Always a pleasure. Hope for a 3rd stay. We will look after you!
A house in paradise
Quiet place where you feel like home. From blanket to baby cultery or candles everything is in the house, just need to fill in the fridge. The property management is very reactive and helpfull in case of need.
This summer was the second time we rent this house and we were very pleased to see again the wild landscape , the fishermen and the seashell of the laguna.
Except some noise in the evening due to festival on the other side of the laguna (Foz de Arelo) everything was perfect.
Thank you Shirley. Glad your second visit was as satisfying as the first. Would love to see you again.
A really good house in a fabulous location
Really excellent - the house was great, with nice spaces both inside and out. Well equiped. Living room upstairs was a particular highlight - you could sit with a view out over the beach and water. Good sitting areas outside and inside, two fully functional bathrooms, nice bedrooms.
Location wise, really good. It is a quiet spot, amongst a cluster of resiidential/holiday houses but the board walk across a short stretch of dunes to the beach is just diagonally across the road. I cannot think of anywhere we have stayed with quite that combination of quietness and accessibility to the beach.
The lagoon is clean, clear water, with shallow/wadable stretches. The The Atlantic beach round the corner (perhaps 10-15 minutes walk on the beach) is not really swimable, except at low tide or in a few places, but great for a quick dip. From the look of it, if you are a surfer, I am sure this is paradise. Lovely sand.
Some great walking - you can quite literally walk for miles along the sandy beaches south (tide permitting) and see just a few people (once away from the lagoon and entrances to the beach). The lagoon walk is also peaceful and with the pine forests on one side and dune vegetation or lagoon water on the other, its a good walk
Downsides? The Atlantic is a cooler ocean than say, the Mediterranean or south coast, so not particularly warm water (the lagoon warms a little more) but there are quieter, more sheltered sea beaches a short drive away for good swimming and warmer waters.
We had a couple of misty days, though it rapidly clears inland. Generally, there is the upside of a cooling breeze on the hottest day, so in the high twenties centigrade, you can walk in hot sun, and feel cooled.
Surrounding area is good - Obidos is a picturesque little walled town and well worth a visit, as are the monasteries within striking distance to the north, and the nearby Buddha Eden if you want a complete contrast is a refreshingly different sculpture park.
Our teenagers preferred the brighter lights and bustle of Lisbon, where we spent the very end of our trip, but for families with younger children, and sun and warmth without excess heat or crowds a top destination.
Tips? Get the electronic toll device if offered by the car hire - no worries about tolls thereafter and some of the roads North only have electronic tolling. The nearby Atlantic motorway is excellent and not busy - quick to cover distances, once you get to it.
Thank you for such a comprehensive review. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Thanks for the tip about Buddha Eden. Will include it in the house notes.
Peaceful, quiet and relaxing place for a holiday.
Well equipped house, very comfortable with beautiful views.
So glad you enjoyed our house and your holiday. Hope we will be able to welcome you back sometime.
This Villa is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday. We spent two lovely weeks here and I can truthfully say its is one of the best villas we have stayed at with everything you possibly need and it is tastefully furnished as well. The lagoon is breathtakingly beautiful and the local beach is just as lovely.
The local restaurants are more than sufficient if you do not want to drive.
I would highly recommend staying at this villa for a very relaxing holiday,
We loved it !!!!!
Very glad you enjoyed your holiday and that everything at the villa was to your satisfaction. Thank you for sharing.
The location is across a very quiet residential road, literally metres to the boardwalk onto the sand and the most picturesque family friendly lagoon/beach. It is so different to the other side of the lagoon at Foz! We have been to Foz before but definitely preferred this side of the lagoon for the space and scenery.
The villa is well stocked with everything needed, everything worked as described. The garden was safe and secure in a quiet residential road. It was full of sun loungers particularly enjoyed in the afternoon by our 3 year old, sorry nearly 4, for an afternoon siesta! Vera the owner provided all the information we needed and the holiday and arrival at the property worked without any issues.
I would have absolutely no problem in recommending the house and area to friends or relatives and fairly confident we will return with family.
We actually wanted and had a lazy holiday. Each day we went over to the beach on several occasions, the advantage of location. In the evenings we walked onto the beach and towards the ocean to see the most magnificent sun sets.we also went to the surf beach at Rio Cortico, which just seems to go on for ever. We used the local bar(Bica) a few times for lunch, which was fun, ideal with our son. There is a very small supermarket in the village for essential items, such as Douro white wine and other items such as milk and veg and all at good prices. We used the Pingo Doce supermarket in Obidos which had everything as we ate in most evenings.
It is quite clear that this Side of the lagoon is known by Portugeese families both but not so widely by other tourists. We love this setting of lagoon and big wide open surf.
A great holiday.
Thank you for your review. So pleased you enjoyed our piece of paradise. Hope to see you again.
The Costa da Prata is situated on the west coast north of Lisbon and largely avoids the excesses of the overdeveloped Algarve. It is close to magnificent historic walled town of Obidos, and the hot spa town of Caldas da Rainha, and a short drive from the world heritage monastery at Alcobaca. Take the A8 north from Lisbon airport in the direction of Torres Vedras/Leiria. At approximately 65kms take exit 13 and follow the signs to Peniche/Obidos. Turn left at the first traffic lights to Peniche and then right at the next lights to Vau/Bom Sucesso. Follow the well marked road through a beautiful pine forest, until the stunning view of the lagoon mouth and the Atlantic tells you that you are almost there. Take first left marked Bairro 5 turn right at the traffic circle and No 63 is a short distance on the right. Welcome!
