Brand-new 3 bed, 2 bath, pet-friendly home minutes from Acadia National Park
About Jean Karutis
Our family has been visiting Acadia for years. We are based in upstate New York, and have spent a few weeks every year in Maine for nearly 20 years. We recently realized our dream of buying a home here, and are happy to welcome you to it! We learned from all of our stays in Maine what makes for a relaxing, beautiful vacation home, and have used that to make our home perfect for your family.
Jean Karutis purchased this House in 2015
Why Jean Karutis chose Bar Harbor
You'll be hard pressed to find another property with all the stunning amenities, household items, and items for daily living that we provide at Gordy's Place. We have gone out of our way to make this home as well-stocked and furnished as possible, so you just need to bring yourself, your clothes, and some hiking shoes! We love pets—it is named after our dog Gordy, after all!—and welcome well-behaved pets into our home. It's tucked away at the end of a cul de sac, but just minutes -- a short bike ride even -- from the entrance to Acadia or the beach. We put our heart into this home, and know you'll love it as much as we do. (Follow us on Instagram @gordysplacebarharbor to see more pics of our home, the Bar Harbor area and some awesome shots of Gordy!)

Perfect House in Great, Quiet, Tucked Away Location
Gordy’s place is a perfect way to experience MDI and all it has to offer. Great location that is convenient to any of the different towns, trails, and remote drives. The house of situated on a quiet remote road and there wasn’t one thing that we needed that wasn’t provided at the house. Great property for spending a quiet retreat away in the woods and grilling out dinner for al fresco dining each night. Gordy’s place far exceeded our expectations and there is nothing that I could say that needs to be improved.
Our family has already mentioned returning in the future and this is the place that we hope to stay.
Well appointed & close to Acadia & Bar Harbor!
Gordy’s place is an awesome newer house near Salisbury Cove, only about 10 minutes to the Acadia entrance and a few more minutes to Bar Harbor. The house has everything you need and then some. The decor and furnishings are really cute and eclectic, (loved the record player!) . The kitchen had everything one might need to cook a full meal, the BBQ grill was great too. We enjoyed sitting on the back patio and using the fire pit as well.
The owners were prompt to respond to any questions and clearly put thought into making sure their place was easy to use and a comfortable place to stay.
Gordy's Place is absolutely wonderful! The decor, beautiful high-end furnishings, and attention to detail are 5 star! Jean and Bob have thought of everything for their guests and your stay. It is this thoughtfulness that makes you feel so appreciated as a guest. Jean is very responsive and her recommendations for restaurants and activities are spot-on. She has provided detailed information for any questions on Bar Harbor or the property in a detailed handy binder that is extremely helpful. Additionally the location of Gordy's Place is conveniently located to Acadia Park and restaurants along Route 3 which we appreciated after a long day of hiking since Bar Harbor can get busy in the evening. The location is on a quiet road and cul-de-sac. Gordy's Place is very private with a wonderful landscaped area for outdoor dining and relaxing. We look forward to visiting Gordy's Place again! It has definitely raised the bar!
The best VRBO property we've rented.
We spent a week exploring Acadia NP and Mount Desert Island. It is a spectacular place to visit. After being active all day, it was a delight to come back to Gordy's Place. The home is updated, CLEAN, comfortable, light-filled and fully stocked.
I've stayed in VRBO rentals that looked good in photos and were a disappointment in real life. That is not the case at Gordy's Place. The kitchen is very well appointed and the rooms are thoughtfully equipped. I'm a cook and was able to quickly find everything I needed to prepare meals. Even the knives were sharp.
When you rent someone's home you get a lot of insight into the owners. It is clear that Jean and Bob are generous and thoughtful people. Homemade muffin mix and granola were left for our arrival. Extra supplies are available to help guests restock. A basket of toiletries are laid out to cover forgotten items. Clear instructions are provided on labels through the house. Beach towels, chairs, a mesh bag of children's toys and even items for the dog are made available. Instead of treating people as just renters, you are treated as a guest. My daughter walked in and said, "Wow, Mom, these people really know how to take care of folks."
I highly recommend Gordy's Place for your family vacation. It was a delight!
Lovely home in acadia
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gourdy's place. The house was very well stocked and exceptionally clean. Location was perfect, close to acadia and bar harbor. The house is located on what looks like a relatively new development site - the trees havent had a chance to grow up between the property lines so you are close to your neighbor. Beds are a bit firm. Orhereise really great, tons of amenities (including wireless phone chargers everywhere). We would definitely stay here again
