I am a high tech executive turned innkeeper at Venice Beach. I love to share the neighborhood with my guests.
Lanii purchased this cottage in 2012
There is so much to see and do. You will be immersed in the hip Venice Beach vibe while enjoying an Ecologically sound lodging environment.
We use no chemicals or fragrances in our cottages. If you have any environmental sensitivities, this place is for you!
What a great stay! Everything perfectly thought out. A code for the door in a great neighbourhood and just five minutes walk from Abbot Kinney. Small but perfectly laid out. Accommodated four of us (two adults and two kids) without too much difficulty. Good little kitchen if you need to prepare food there. Very comfortable (main) bed.
Very special and charming interior. Partly antique, with its pros and cons regarding usability. Location is close to Venice beach, but a car is really needed to shop and get around (except to the beach). Owner responded friendly and efficiently to our minor issues. The main downside of this cottage is noise from the street. The neighborhood was not noisy, but the street was. If you wish to retreat in full silence and maximum comfort, this is not for you. If you are ready for a charming and special interiors, and sleeps well with some street noise, you might well consider this rental.
No question the cottage is nice. Very cute. Venice beach is not the former glory it once was. It is basically full of homeless bums. Most of the businesses are now closed, a ghost town really.
I would not stay here again unless the price was $100 per day max. Way nicer locations in california for same or less money.
Very noisy street! If you dont like sleep and love overpriced accomodations than you'll love it here.
Was very clean and quaint. Close to everything if you wanted to get out of Venice and explore. Would stay there again if ever get back to Venice. Felt safe. Tastefully decoratated.
The Hemingway cottage is on a busy street. This is an urban area. If you are not used to street traffic and noise, you will be disappointed. Also, there is a foot traffic. If you are not used to that, you will be disappointed.
The cottage is walking distant to Venice beach, bars, restaurants on Abbot Kinney. Very convenient if you don't have a car. Liquor store on Abbot Kinney has small amount of groceries if you need anything. The cottage has a refrig, stove, washer/dryer. Off street parking in back.
The neighborhood is safe. Again, this is an urban area.
This is a cottage, not a hotel or beach resort. It's like staying at a friend's house while they are out of town. I would absolutely stay there again. The people in the neighborhood are friendly! I met Ross (owner) by chance when I arrived and he is really a nice guy.
Four blocks from the beach, two blocks from Abott Kinney's great shopping, galleries and restaurants. Three blocks from the Venice Canals.
