Monkeys, Birds, Sloths, Oh MY! Wildlife Lovers Paradise!
About Nancy Dunlap
Our names are Nancy and Steve Dunlap and we currently live in TN, near Chattanooga. My husband and I built Villa la Vista in 1998 after falling in love with Costa Rica while vacationing there. We especially loved Manuel Antonio and knew that when we retired we would love to spend the Winter months looking out over the beautiful blue Pacific Ocean. Our dream has finally come true (we retired in 2010) and we now spend as much time as possible enjoying our property. We hope that you will also enjoy this beautiful, friendly country and will want to return again and again. Pura Vida!

Why Nancy Dunlap chose Manuel Antonio
We chose Manuel Antonio due to its natural beauty. We also love wildlife and the exotic animals and birds that can be seen in this area are a wildlife lovers dream come true.
What makes this Villa unique
If you want an escape from the everyday, consider our Manuel Antonio vacation rental in Costa Rica and experience a little slice of paradise. Manuel Antonio offers visitors world-class beaches and magnificent views from La Vista of gorgeous sunsets with Cathedral Point as a backdrop. From this Manuel Antonio vacation rental, you can explore all the charm of Costa Rica with rafting down the wilds of the Naranjo River, or hiking in the Manuel Antonio National Park. 24 of the 27 major adventure activities offered in Costa Rica are available in Manuel Antonio so there is little need to waste your vacation time traveling to and from other areas. If it is unique experiences you are looking for La Vista will be the right vacation spot for you: Watch friendly Titi monkeys wrestle and play on the patio, watch Momma Titi nurse her newborn baby on the railing, observe the White Faced/Capuchin monkeys drinking from and bathing in the pool (keep the doors shut as they will also come in and steal your bananas!), awaken to the “howling” gorilla-like sounds of the Howler/Congo monkeys, or the raucous Chachalaca birds that nest in the flora below the Villa, spot Momma Sloth who may slowly detach her baby from her breast and gently hang it on a branch so she can stretch out and groom herself, or stop your car on the road to help a slow moving Sloth cross to safety, be startled awake when the nocturnal Kinkajou runs across the roof at night, and let’s not forget about all the crazy iguanas that live on the roof and in the surrounding trees and the gorgeous Toucans that visit every morning! The numerous geckos provide free pest control, but don't worry, they will not come down and try to sell you insurance! These are just a few of the amazing experiences the jungle wildlife may offer you, providing you with one of the most fantastic and unbelievable vacation experiences of a lifetime!

This was a great little retreat. Everything we needed. Close to stores, bus route, beach and resturants
We had an excellent time at the property. Great location. Walked down to the beach almost daily.
A Wonderful Stay at La Vista!
What a wonderful stay we had a La Vista! This home is lovely, with a fabulous ocean view. Geralyn. the concierge, greeted us on arrival at this spotless home. She was professional, efficient, resourceful and extremely personable - all rolled up into one. We had such a good visit, and would love to come again if the opportunity presents itself. We really appreciated the use of the washer/dryer and all the amenities of the home. We had no trouble walking the road to the beach and even enjoyed a dip in the ocean. Geralyn arranged for us to have an excellent guide for a visit to Manuel Antonio National Park, where we saw an amazing variety of wildlife. Then to top off our stay, we had a morning visit from the monkeys while we were having coffee on the deck!
I am so happy you had such a wonderful time at Villa La Vista. I do hope you can return one day and if so, please contact me directly for a returning guest discounted rate. Thank you for posting this review and we look forward to seeing you again in Costa Rica! Pura Vida! Nancy Dunlap, Owner
La Vista is a little slice of heaven in Manuel Antonio. The views from the villa are absolutely breathtaking and the jungle life around you is just an added bonus. The monkeys love to come and play all around the house and put on a show for you. The villa is perfectly secluded but within walking distance to the beach and the small town of Manuel Antonio which has plenty of great restaurants/bars/shops to cover you for your trip. There's really no need to go anywhere else if you do not want to. The walks are very hilly so they are not for everyone but taxis are easily accessible and reasonable. The concierge for the villa were great support during the trip in booking excursions and even arranging takeout delivery whenever we wanted it! We had a wonderful experience and cannot wait to visit again!
Perfect location between the ocean and town
The location could not be better. The views are AmAzInG! The beach is down a dirt road with little traffic. The town is up the same road just short of a mile.We visited all the beaches in the area and the one closest to the home was our favorite. We had a SUV but really could have gone with out a car at all for a taxi from one end of town to the other is 8 dollars. Monkeys visited us often and we saw butterfly's full of color and birds also. The beds were supper comfortable. The house lacked nothing. I will be back soon. Thanks for your sharing such an amazing spot.
Dream family vacation!
We just stayed at Villa La Vista and it was amazing. It was my wife and I along with our teenage boy and girl. The kids loved having their own rooms and we all loved the house. This was our third time in Manuel Antonio and second time staying at Villa La Vista. The house offers one of the best views in the area and unmatched privacy in an area rapidly filling up with people.
The house also offers amazing opportunities to interact with the local wildlife. A vast array of birds and lizards will keep you entertained with their antics in the trees near the house. Monkeys are frequent visitors to the house, both the white face capuchin and the smaller red titi monkeys. At one point during the week we were entertained by a 15 minute wrestling match between the various titi monkeys. That was an experience I will not soon forget.
The walk to and from the beach can be a challenge but it is well worth it. You are rewarded with a world class beach that you have almost entirely to yourself. Make sure you bring the sunscreen though!
You want the sunscreen almost any time you are out and about in Costa Rica but you also definitely want to be out and about in Costa Rica. It's an amazing place full of warm and friendly people. Listen to Sabrina and Geralyn, they are experts in recommending and organizing your adventures. We did parasailing, horseback riding, jet skiing, and even managed to squeeze in a day at the National Park and a crocodile river tour. I can't thank them enough for their help in making the vacation unforgettable.
