Riding Farm is set amidst rolling countryside and enjoying peace and tranquillity on our family 200 acre farm, where you can enjoy its many footpaths and cycleways, these renovated cottages provide excellent accommodation. Sleeping between 2 - 9 persons . Most of the cottages enjoy en suite bedrooms with large comfy beds which can be arranged as king / twin. All the cottages enjoy a patio some with gardens as well.Lying down a sleepy country lane, these stone-built cottages were converted from farm barns and have been tastefully and thoughtfully furnished giving the perfect base that’s both relaxing and ideal for exploring the diverse attractions this region has to offer. Beamish Museum Durham Cricket and The Angel of the North on our doorstep .Only 20 minutes from the many attractions of Newcastle and Gateshead - home to the Sage music venue, Baltic contemporary art gallery and excellent shopping. The historic city of Durham, with its magnificent cathedral, which is regarded as the finest Norman building in Europe, is a mere 10 miles away. Durham is one the most beautiful cities in England, with spectacular architecture, tree-lined river bank walks and winding streets. About Louise Johnson

Angus and I have lived at Riding Farm for 25 years but the Riding Farm has been in Angus family since his Grandfather. We have been doing Bed and Breakfast and holiday accommodation for 10 years as well as farming

Louise Johnson purchased this cottage in 25

Why Louise Johnson chose County Durham

We decided to develop the barns and cottages as a diversification plan we have for the family farm and its ideal location so near to everything yet set in peaceful countryside, yet so close to all the cities and major attractions in the area. Beamish Museum and Tanfield Railway on our doorstep. Durham Sunderland and Newcastle Gateshead are all within as easy 25 minutes.

What makes this cottage unique

We love the Riding and have done ever since we moved here in 1989. it is ideal location near enough to be near far enough to be away from everything - you always switch off once you arrive

Great Place; Great Owners

  • 5 of 5

We were 4 adults visiting the area during Rugby World Cup-2015, and wanted to stay for 1-week to explore rural northern England, away from the hustle and bustle. We could not have chosen a better place for our objectives. The owners (Louise and Angus) were just great (thanks for the welcome cake), the accommodations was top rate. Highly recommend if peace and quite is your game. Your own transportation is essential.
