Our house is 'off the grid'. Our goal is to create a luxury yet ecological experience in a place of incredible beauty and magic. Our home provides a unique ecological opportunity – it is entirely energy independent, not CONNECTED to the “public grid” in any way, neither for electricity nor water. The electric energy is from a “state of the art” solar system, water is from a well 40 meters deep. Our energy and water are limited resources. Please be reasonable and prudent in your use of them. It is very important to take care. We hope this experience will lead to reducing energy consumption in your homes and countries, while we help preserve the planet. We have installed the best, state of the art, solar system available. Our paradise - a combination of architecturally sculpted form integrated with environmental consciousness - is a most spectacular and awe inspiring experience.
The King Bedded Master Suite in a private wing of the house with adjoining bathroom with jacuzzi for two, double stone shower, and its own stone veranda with outdoor hot tub. All, overlooking the sea with dramatic view and lush landscaping.
The two guest suites (one queen, one twin bedded) each with full bath and private deck and breathtaking views of infinity swimming pool, gardens and the beach.
Cook in our professional, KITCHEN with double door refrigerator, professional stove, dishwasher, and preparation island, next to the curved dining room with its own outdoor breakfast deck with breathtaking views.
Our two story, Meditation Tower is an incredible oasis. For those who want to write or work, the first floor has a dramatic office and half bath. Upstairs, you can relax, do yoga in round meditation room with two leather reclining chairs with 360 degree views of sea, sand, sunsets and mountains.

Phenomenal house! We are blown away. My wife and I marvel at the architecture, design that is as aesthetic as it is functional, the breathtaking views and the art that furnishes the home. Ivan is a sweet guy and he showed us pictures of his brand new baby. We are heading to Valparaiso and Vina del Mar today, but I must admit that all 3 generations (my parents are here along with my 2 sons) feel a strong pull to come back quickly and enjoy the house.
What an amazing home you have! Although it stretched our budget to the limit it was worth every penny and more! I don't think I have ever stayed in such a beautiful house! From the architecture to the gardens to the furnishings and the location to Ivan's personal service every aspect of the house is absolutely top notch. Every where you look in the house there are wonderful design or decoration touches. We almost didn't want to go exploring because the house was so wonderful! Please let us know if you have homes in other parts of the world we should visit!

We came to Chile on vacation and fell in love! We are so proud to be chosen by Conde Nast Traveler as one of the 'Visionary Villas of 2011'. Villa Tunquen was also chosen the winner on HGTV episode, 'The Curved House'. You can see the video below.. It makes us happy to share our piece of paradise with you!
Judy purchased this villa in 2008
We were so inspired by the location, we wanted to be nestled into the environment, with soaring ceilings, curved walls of windows, enjoying lush gardens and the incredible backdrop of the Pacific Ocean, beautiful sweet water lagoon and five miles of deserted beach. All within 90 minutes of Santiago airport, incredible Casablanca wineries and the beautiful fishing village of Quintay.
We couldn't ask for more!!
Tunquen means 'the place where you gather strength' in the Mapuche language. It is just that!
What a lovely ending to a 13 month adventure around the world. Villa
Tunquen was the perfect place to hit the reset button before life begins for us
in our home country. Thank you Soraya. You are amazing!
Thank you Judy, you guys will not be forgotten.
This house is the perfect place to go to if you're looking for relaxation, privacy, incredible views and indulging yourself in luxury. The architecture as well as the decoration of both in and exterior are done in such a way that you feel very welcome and at home from the moment you arrive. The house fits you like comfortable clothing. And if you want to get out: Quintay (nice restaurants) is round the corner, Valparaiso 20 minutes away and Santiago-Center a little over an hour.
We very much recommend this house and will definitely come again.
(if we, in the mean time, haven't bought our own house on the coast next to it)
This property is positioned to offer glorious views of a beautiful beach. The waves crashing below and the cool breezes were ideal for lounging around day and night. The kitchen is very nice and well equipped. The exterior furniture is in need to replacement cushions and the solar heating system for the pool was not working, but overall it was a great place to spend our first week in Chile.
My family of four had a wonderful stay. The home is comfortable, well furnished and beautiful inside and out. Judy was easy to deal with and accommodating. Renate, the housekeeper, is awesome, friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Villa Tunquen for anyone who enjoys peace and beauty. If you are looking for the hustle and bustle of grimy city life, please look elsewhere!
Villa Tunquen was stunning in every way. Amazing views, comfortable, well designed rooms and spaces, excellent kitchen, lovely gardens, pool, hot-tub, sauna - ITS ALL HERE!
Close enough for excursions to Valparaiso, but remote enough for that all-important sense of "getting-away-from-it-all." Short walk to the beach or just lounge by the pool. Its a great vacation place - cant' wait to return!
Six of us - three couples - spent three fabulous days and nights at Villa Tunquen. From the moment we walked in the front door and gasped at the spectacular view from the living room windows, we remained in awe of the natural beauty of the surroundings. The house itself is fabulous - full of wonderful art and gracious design, but not at all imposing or formal. The bedrooms are comfortable, and each has its own view of the beach and ocean; the master bedroom is to die for. (We had to flip for it :) ). The house provided a great base for exploring Valparaiso - lunch at Espiritu Santo was excellent. Laura, the proprietor, was delightful, and gave us fulsome descriptions of our choices in impeccable English. We also visited a small winery in Casablanca - Kingston Family Vineyards - where the preferred tasting included a luscious three course lunch in a beautiful setting. Finally, we loved our dinner at MiraMar in the small fishing village of Quintay - although we were surprised by how early the kitchen closed on a Saturday night. That may have something to do with high tide, and the fact that you have to cross the beach to enter the restaurant. The drive to Quintay is not without its thrills, particularly in a boxy 8 passenger van with a manual transmission, but well worth the effort. We loved cooking at Villa Tunquen in the well appointed kitchen, and our friends joked that we needed to make a schedule so that we were each sure to spend time in each of the fabulous vista points, from the pool deck to the outdoor living area to the meditation tower. We would return in a hearbeat - if you are lucky enough to stay at Villa Tunquen, you are lucky enough.
This was an amazing getaway for our family - the home is wonderfully appointed, and has amazing views, everything being so much better than the pictures can describe. Everyone associated with the property was so welcoming and accommodating. Growing up on the Big Sur coastline, this looked almost identical in flora and fauna, yet was teaming with wildlife, and a fraction of the people. What a great place - thank you Judy, Renate, Victoria, and Soroya!
We will be back!
