Elegant townhouse sleeping 8-10 with 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, large sitting room and kitchen/diner. Delightful walled garden. Town location with many great restaurants and bars within a short walk. Great base from which to explore the beautiful Scottish Borders yet only an hour by car or train from Edinburgh. Melrose has much to see including the stunning Melrose Abbey and renowned fishing on the River Tweed.
Great location in the Beautiful Borders town of Melrose. Everything on your doorstep to enjoy.
Three generations had a great time staying in this superb townhouse. Warmly welcomed by Muriel, we were immediately at our ease in this comfortable property which had all the facilities that we needed and more (3 fridges!!!). As for cleanliness, absolutely no complaints there - and given the women in our group are cleaning fanatics that says something.
Melrose is a lovely town and would recommend it as a base. The propery is ideally situated in the heart of the town with a good selection of shops and restaurants/pubs. Had a very good dinner in Burt's and a nice lunch in the King's (excellent chips).
As for the townhouse itself, 5 stars says it all.
We stayed as 2 families in this lovely house, beautifully furnished, we didn't want to leave. Well located right in town, so close to some lovely places to eat and drink. Also close was some wonderful countryside for long walks and exploring. Not far into Edinburgh which we did also for a daytrip shopping. Will be sure to come again. Many thanks.
Hello everyone, 2016 we (two familys from Germany) decided to celebrate Christmas and New Years Eve in beautiful Scotland. Luckily we found this amazing house in Melrose. We had a really kind welcome from Muriel. As a welcome suprise she served us delicious and fresh salmon sandwiches and wonderful sparkling champagne.
The rooms are very elegant and stylish furnished. We immediately felt really comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped, that was a big plus for us. Melrose is a cute little town in the lowlands of Scotland, there is everthing you need, a local butcher and a fish shop , a well sorted grocery shop and so on.., and dont forget the old magical abby. There were few restaurants, we once had dinner in a lovely restaurant called Burt´s Hotel, the food was absolutely mouth-watering. This house and Melrose were just perfect . The ideal combination. We would really recommend you that wonderful, old and very posh house.
