Recent Renovation: Note that in 2012, all five bedrooms of the house were completely renovated in two phases.
At first, the free standing pod, which contains two bedrooms and one shared bathroom, was gutted from floor to ceiling. The newly constructed unit now contains two newly constricted 13 x 13 bedrooms and one new, oversized shared bathroom. Each bedroom has a queen bed.
In December 2012 we likewise completed the renovation of the three bedrooms on the main section of the house. The Master Bedroom and Bathroom were completely gutted and are new from floor to ceiling: new imported tile floors with high-end custom woodwork wainscoting and crown moldings. The oversized en-suite Master Bathroom is likewise new, with an oversized walk-in shower, free standing double vanities and a separate toilet room. The Master Bedroom is also flanked by a walk-in closet.
Bedrooms two and three were likewise renovated, with newly finished walls, custom bead-board wood working and crown moldings.
My family and I live on Long Island in New York and get to Exuma as often as possible.
Kimberley M. Barnes purchased this house in 2005
My parents had been traveling to Exuma since the early 1970s and I vacationed there very often as a child and young adult.
If you go to Exuma, you want to be on the water (there is no sense traveling there and not having immediate, regular beach access). That is the best part of Calypso, it is beach front, and the beach is quiet, nearly secluded, which is merely steps out the back door. That beach, and the 16 foot square deck perched about 20 feet above the ocean the coral bluff, are the perfect way to spend a day or a week on Exuma.
I just wanted get you this email before I forgot. The house was absolutely beautiful. The view was breath taking! Its location is perfect, we were midway between all of the places we wanted to be. We would definitely stay again!
Great Home! Very large with a total of 5 bedrooms. We had a great time! The home is nicely equipped with all the comforts of home, including a well stocked kitchen, comfortable furniture inside and outside, and they even supply beach towels (many beach homes require renters to bring their own.)
But the most amazing part of this home is the beach! When we walked into the living area and saw the three sets of glass doors we were overtaken by the most amazing view we've ever seen? Paradise! The water is that gorgeous Caribbean blue color. The photos do not do this beach justice!
The hosts, Kim and Leo are very personable and professional. It's apparent that they have anticipated all of your needs while you are renting their home. They also have a hard working, dedicated staff to take care of anything that happens while you are there. They'll also serve as your tour guide and they'll even prepare you a wonderful meal! I would not hesitate to rent this home again.
My family and I had the best time. The house is cool and comfortable, with everything you need. The water is clean and warm and sapphire blue. We lay on the deck or walked down to the beach. The weather was perfect. Our snorkeling trip included a trip to the island of swimming (hungry) pigs and the ocean of giant sea stars. One evening we walked to a dock and fed sea turtles. Another day we visited a great oceanfront restaurant, where we fed huge friendly sting rays. We went to the Tropic of Cancer. And the island is full of the friendliest people you could ever meet. There is a fish fry on Friday night, which is big with the islanders, but at which they still make tourists feel welcome and comfortable. I know how a review like this reads, but my family had the BEST TIME on this island and at this house. I recommend it whole-heartedly.
We loved this home. A group of us went for my 40th birthday and couldn't of asked for a more perfect set up, atmosphere, spots at house to hangout, have a little fun and chill! You are a short drive to Emerald Bay Pub, Grand Isle and Sandals. The airport is about 10 minutes away so once you land you are at your vacation home within minutes. I honestly can't say enough great things about this trip. I am IN LOVE with the Bahamas!
We stayed at Calypso in March for 10 days - and we'll definitely return. Perfect for a large family or group with a spectacular views and a very private beach. Already looking forward to our next trip!
I have stayed at Calypso a few times. I now call it my home away from home! It's a great place for a large family, a couple of small families, group of friends or couples! The house is very comfortable and equipped with everything you need! The view is amazing. Leo is very kind and helpful and I really appreciate everything they do to make our stay even better than the time before! I HIGHLY recommend choosing Calypso for your stay in Exuma! You can't beat it! Thanks, again and I will be contacting you soon about our next visit to the island! I can't wait to be back with all of my friends!

The pictures does not give this place any justices. This home is amazing. We used this home because my sister was getting married at sandals, which is up the road. The Calypso House was a God sent. There were 10 people in the house and we weren't on top of each other and everyone was comfortable. The house was clean and we didn't have to bring much to the house because everything was there. The beach is your backyard which is amazing. Just to have that view everyday is great. I was able to see the sunrise and it was the best view. I'm so in love with this house. Kim the owner was very helpful as well. She answered every question via email.
The Taxi Man( Mr. Ferguson) was also wonderful. He picked us up on time from the airport took us to the local market and to get fresh bread which was super good. There is no need to rent a car if you have Mr. Ferguson he really treated us like family. And his prices are very reasonable.
My time at Exuma was great. Again I went there for a wedding so I didn't get a chance to see Exuma the way I would like to but I was happy with everything else.
If Exuma is on your list of places to go I would say; stay at the Calyspo Beach House and Call Mr. Ferguson with the two you can't go wrong. And Yes, I will tell all my friends and enemies to stay here. I can't wait to go back...
The Exuma Beach House is located 3 miles from the Airport and only 2.5 miles from the Sandals Emerald Bay Resort , Spa, Golf Club, and Marina and the Grand Isle Resort. Several new restaurants, the Greg Norman Golf Course, a large Marina and a new Spa and moments away from Calypso, The Exuma Beach House.
