Colonial Elegance meets Mexican Charm in this spacious, refreshed central home
About Dwight Holden
Welcome! I’m Dwight. I am a semi-retired doctor living in Santa Fe, NM, USA. I came to San Miguel to study Spanish and fell in love with this beautiful town, so I bought and renovated this lovely Mexican Colonial home in the heart of town, with its delightful courtyard, comfortable living spaces, and views across the city. It’s the perfect place to experience the magic of San Miguel.

We enjoyed our week in San Miguel at Casa de Estrellas. This home is beautiful with fabulous views of San Miguel. It offers many spaces to relax in. We especially enjoyed our wine time each evening on the top deck. Kris was very helpful all week and was always just a phone call away. Reyna kept the house very clean all week and helped us with our laundry.
We enjoyed having Dale and his wife. Communication was excellent!
Pleasant, outgoing and very polite, we would love to have them stay with us again.
This is a gorgeous property very well suited for three couples or a family.
We had a wonderful stay at this property. The hosts were friendly and helpful. When one issue arose (no hot water), it was resolved within minutes. The housekeeper was friendly and helpful. She made several meals for us that were excellent. The place is not exactly in the Zona Centro ... it's several blocks away -- an easy walk down, but a challenging walk up.
The streets are steep, and they're cobblestone, which provided a challenge for our 85-year-old friend who walks with a cane. We found it easy to get rides with Uber, however, so that was a good work-around. All the sleeping rooms are on the second floor, so be aware of this if someone in your group has difficulty with stairs.
There was some confusion at the beginning of our stay because the sign over the door says "Casa Cumpleaños" rather than "Casa de Estrellas."
We especially enjoyed the upper deck, where beautiful hot air balloons drift by at 7:00 each morning. Our host, Kris, was kind enough to suggest a chef to prepare dinner for us one night. It was a real treat to have dinner under the stars -- real and suspended. I expect we will be back to this lovely property on our next trip to San Miguel.
Thank you for your kind review. I'm glad you enjoyed your time there. Officially, it is in El Centro, and is identified as such it its official address. It was chosen to be far enough away to avoid much of the downtown noise but close enough for a stroll or a quick taxi ride. Apologies for the name confusion. I changed the name to Casa de Estrellas, but apparently the person responsible for creating the new sign had not put it up yet, unbeknownst to me. It is now in place over the front door as Casa de Estrellas. Thanks again for choosing this home.
