The owners of Number 1 Rated Blue Moon Beach House (#778610) and the newly renovated SkyFall Beach House (#1152300) on beautiful Hatteras Island, North Carolina welcome you to Blue Moon Lodge. Check out our review of our beach properties to give you an idea of how we treat our guests.

This lovely vacation home has almost everything you could ask for, including a secluded, rustic forest location with Cedar Creek and Lake Glenville within a few minutes walk. Blue Moon Lodge sits surrounded by pine trees and fresh, mountain air, but don't let the rustic setting fool you. Everything about Blue Moon Lodge is state of the art, with a gourmet kitchen, 3D Home Theater with more than 5 dozen movies in the Blu-Ray library.

The Main level offers an enormous stone stack fireplace in the living room with a large bank of windows looking out over the unspoiled forest. A separate sitting area for reading or playing games can be found right off the entrance way. The luxurious master bedroom has an adjoining private whirlpool tub and separate luxury shower in the master bathroom. The kitchen is a chef's dream with stainless steel gourmet appliances, tile floor, granite counter tops, custom cabinets and a breakfast bar with seating for 4. The dining area is right off the kitchen and seats 12 comfortably. We provide a high chair and porta crib. The laundry room can also be found on this floor. The main floor also offers easy access to the huge wrap around porch and the side porch boasts a separate wood burning fireplace and a outdoor home theater.

Downstairs are two bedrooms. One a king with an en suite bath and a separate bunk bedroom with 6 twin bunkbeds. The bunk bedroom also has its own bathroom. This floor offers a Game room with a full size pool table, wet bar/kitchenette, full size refrigerator with microwave. Last but not least, the state of the art, 3D, 4K Home Theater is also found on the lower level. We provide many recent 3D movies for your enjoyment (like Avatar, Finding Nemo, The Avengers and Gravity). We also supply a large collection of other recent Blu-Ray movies. Walk out access to another back deck is also found on this lower level.

The top floor has a separate comfortable seating area with a large Flatscreen TV and Blu-Ray Player. Two other bedrooms are also found on this level, A Queen bedroom and a bunk bed room with two Twin over Full bunk beds. These two bedrooms share a bathroom on this floor.




Linens are provided for every bed and the beds are made before you arrive. High quality pillows, blankets and comforters and sixteen luxurious, plush bath towel sets are provided for each bathroom.

The location of this house allows you great privacy, but is still close to shops and restaurants, fishing, and all of the local diversion of Cashiers and Highlands Villages.

Blue Moon Lodge will make your mountain vacation a memorable one for the entire family. We may consider allowing a dog, but the price is $200 per dog and considered on a case by case basis after discussion.

We enjoyed staying at this property. The kitchen was well stocked and labels helped with putting things in their home. Home is beautiful and comfortable. We did miss not having a hottub and pinball machine, but we also did not confirm these amenities with owner. The pool table and movies were enjoyed. Many nice amenities. A maintenance issue came up, but was immediately addressed with a quick in person response. Towards the end of our stay, a bear was around and approaching the house. Our final rating for this home is 4.8!

Summer Family Vacay
Overall, this was an enjoyable property for our three week stay. Lake Glenville was a short distance away with boat rentals and fishing. The nearby creek and playground in the development was perfect for families with young children. The three levels were perfect for guest privacy and space. The AC system and the TV system in the house were very complicated and not user friendly. Also, only the top drawer of the two drawer dishwasher was operable during our stay. With all of these issues, the owner was responsive and sent resource persons for assistance. The voluminous property notes did not make clear that there is not garbage service at the house. Tenants take trash to a site about 5 miles away for disposal. Once we figured it out, it was easy to do.

Not what we hoped
Cleanliness - low to fair - overfilled trash containers, hairs on toilet and dirty table tops upon arrival, doubtful that bedspreads were laundered, towels put away damp, lower level mildew/musty smell. Property condition - in need of functional maintenance - lighting in dining room and one bathroom - non functional, then due to a storm - the electricity went out, along with the electricity went running water. The property manager was hard working, but overwhelmed. The electrician told us having a generator to run the water pump was expected in most developments - unfortunately the owner of this house did not have one - that is the owner's fault. Even when the electricity came back on the water pump didn't work - that is owner's fault due to lack of maintenance. Eventually the plumber was able to repair the pump, but made the comment - it was pretty outdated. To make the repair he had to use a screwdriver to access the garage where the electrical panel was located. Lower level at least needs a dehumidifier, probably wouldn't hurt in other areas. I communicated privately with the owner, but have received no response, so I decided it should be reported publicly. The structure itself has potential however the description of the linens was not accurate and the condescending nature of the instructional letter was insulting. We were exploring for a place for an extended stay - this will not qualify. My husband will request at least a partial refund due to the electrical and water issues.
