Beautiful Canals and Great Location

  • 4 of 5

Simon's apartment had a gorgeous view! It was beautiful to watch the sky turn pink across the canal in the evenings. Simon was great - he helped us orient ourselves a little bit and gave us advice on the city, where to go, etc. This is a central location to pretty much everything. Simon pointed out the tram station to us but we ended up just walking everywhere. The apartment was well furnished and well supplied in the kitchen, but it was a bit dusty. Check out was simple and we got our deposit back about a week later. Keep in mind that it is on the fourth floor (fifth floor for Americans) and the stairs are very narrow and steep. Being on the top floor definitely gives you the best views of the canals, but if you have trouble with stairs this is not the place for you.

Owner's Response: Hello Jessica, thanks for your review. Happy your enjoyed your stay. just wanted to mention a couple of things, the apartment is hoovered and dusted every time so I just don't know where the dust comes from. Also, I know the stairs can be a killer at the end of a days walking the city, but you obviously don't know what most dutch houses are like in the centre, as the stairs are not steep or narrow in comparison. There is also a landing on every floor which is again unusual, in a good way. Typical Dutch houses in the centre have much narrower and steeper stairs with tight turns, especially the older buildings. These stairs are quite good. I know it would be nice to have a lift but I do mention the stairs and the floor in the details as a warning so I'm always surprised it's still such an issue. Anyway it all helps future guests make an educated decision. But the view is nice.

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

Really couldn't fault our stay here. The apartment was just as pictured and perfect for our needs. Simon met us and gave us the guided tour and pointed out some key locations and great places to eat

Travelling with a small child was no bother and Simon was very accommodating in sorting a cot and mattress for us and helping carry the luggage!

The convenience of storing our buggy in the hotel next door was ideal and they couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.

The apartment was clean with great views and had everything we needed.

We would highly recommend coming back here and loved our time in Amsterdam

Thanks

Spacious, bright and in a wonderful location!

  • 4 of 5

We loved this apartment and it had more than enough room for 3 adults. We were able to walk to see all of the highlights, but were also quite content spending part of the afternoon in the living room with the beautiful view of the canal. The apartment is a few doors down from a hotel and the people at the hotel were very helpful if we wanted directions, maps and they even arranged for a taxi for us to the airport. The furniture is a bit worn and there are many stairs leading to the apartment which should be noted if anyone has mobility issues. Also note, if you want to go to the Ann Frank Museum, book ahead online as only online tickets are available until 330 PM daily and then there are big line ups. They sell out so book far in advance. We rented a bike from a place just around the corner from the apartment, which was awesome. We would stay again and would recommend this place. Dank je vel!

Incredible property in an amazing part of Amsterdam

  • 5 of 5

Nothing wrong at the apartment and couldn't have asked for a more exciting part of town. Simon was a great host, too - very responsive to my questions.

Fantastic Location

  • 4 of 5

Location: Perfect, short walk to museums, shopping and restaurants. We were able to go anywhere from this prime location. Couldn't have asked for a better spot.

Accommodations: main area has wonderful views of canals. A place you can relax all day. Bedding is sufficient, but there is only 1 pillow per person. So if you prefer a sturdy pillow bring one with you. No extra frills of any kind.

Noise: You don't here any street noise unless you open the windows; however, the walls are so thin and you can here every noise from the neighbors. There is a staircase that is right in front of your wall, and the noise sounds like the neighbors are walking up a staircase inside the apartment.

*final note there are 67 stairs to the apartment door, we didn't mind, but it is noteworthy.

Apartment is in a fantastic location where the Redlight district & museums are all within a walk.

  • 4 of 5

A great picture postcard view over the boats in the Amsel and and houses on the opposite side river & canal. Also in walking distance was the flower market & the flea market & all the canals.

Plenty of room for 4 and warm when cold outside. Chairs were stained but nice to sit in taking some wine & cheese & viewing the Amsterdam scene go by below.
