2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms a mile from UVa
Why Sue Herndon chose Fry's Spring
My mother built this house in 1999 on the property that has been in our family since 1897.
What makes this House unique
The house is the last house on a street that ends in a large wooded area. You can barely see any houses. You can sit on the deck and be all alone in the woods, even though you are less than a mile from the University, and a mile from downtown. The vaulted ceilings and spacious rooms make this a warm, comfortable and gracious space.
Not inside, but outside and on the deck is okay
The deck is one story up.

Great football week end
Walking distance to the stadium. Comfortable beds, looking out into trees. This is a charming home. So much living space for a great price.
My family and I stayed here for the weekend. The house is in a perfect location to explore downtown, but is still only 15mins from Monticello and majority of the wineries! The house was very clean! Sue was very easy to communicate with, and a gracious host! Would definitely stay here again!
Better than expected.
This house is so special, it was cozy and inviting. This house is by far the best house I have stayed in in Charlottesville. Sue was very attentive and available. I will definitely book here again.
We enjoyed our stay. The location was convenient fir visiting Monticello, Highland and Montpelier.
Nice house. Could use a couple of upgrades- carpet, paint to earn a 5 star rating.
Would not return
Place is pretty dirty. From the walls, to the upholstery, to the carpet, to the bathrooms - its all old and in need of a thorough deep clean. There's a solid pet smell throughout. None of it is unsafe, but none of it is comforting either.
Maybe my standards are a bit different, but even at this price point (admittedly low for cville), I expect better.
Welp, this is depressing. The day before David's arrival I had just spent $300 on a "thorough deep clean." The place is worn, it needs painting, the rugs are old. They do get steam cleaned every month or so, and we scrub everything, but it is worn. It is a large, 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment with a full kitchen and a large deck for less than you would pay for any hotel room. It is not the Omni. We are not pristine, but it's a great place for a getaway. If you want pristine, there are many hotels in the area.
Positives: Very clean and convenient location. Negatives: Needs new carpeting in bedrooms
3.5 star review.
Positives: Very clean and convenient location. Beds were very comfortable. Nice deck off living room and bedrooms (could use some repairs).
Negatives: Needs new carpeting in bedrooms. In desperate need of interior repair and painting. Living room floor could be refinished. Exterior landscaping (or lack thereof) could be cleaned up. Front door needs to be replaced.
All in all, we had a nice 3-night stay there.
