About Mir Garvy
Mir Garvy & Aaron Hill We live in Raleigh, NC and have long-time ties--and a great love for--the Boone/Blowing Rock area. We purchased Tweetsie House in 2018 and, although it was named by its former owners, kept the name because it just fits perfectly.

Beautiful house and location
The Tweetsie House was a perfect place to stay for my daughter’s recent graduation from App State. The location was fabulous because it was so close to Boone but it was also quite close to Blowing Rock, where we spent a rainy Saturday afternoon. The layout of the house was perfect for us because each family had a bedroom and the two children enjoyed sleeping in the twin beds in one of the upstair’s bedrooms. The wood floors, ceilings, and walls give this house a rustic yet beautiful look and the home decor was lovely. We were a little sad to find out that the hot tub had not yet been delivered because we were looking forward to a nice soak on the porch where the mountain views are breathtaking. But, we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house and would definitely recommend it.
Thank you, Ann, for your five-star review! I'm so happy to hear that your stay at Tweetsie House made your daughter's graduation all the more memorable. I, too, had hoped the hot tub would be installed before your visit but we had so much rainy weather this spring, the new deck took longer to build than planned. I hope you'll come back to Tweetsie House the next time you're in Boone/Blowing Rock; I'd be happy to give you a complimentary extra night! All the best to you and your family.
Just like home, only better!
We loved our time at Tweetsie house. It was the escape we needed in our busy lives. I had never used vrbo before and was surprised how easy it was to search and book it. We brought two other couples with us and each couple was able to stay on a different floor. We wanted to just kick back, and we did but we also spent time in both Boone and Blowing Rock because they are both just minutes away! So many things to see and do! Great restaurants and shops. The springtime scenery was beautiful. We all fell in love with the house. It's obviously loved and cared for by the owners, decorated with an eye to comfort, convenience (everything we needed was there!), style, and local charm. The guys watched a game in one living room while we gals enjoyed wine and quiet conversation in the downstairs living room. We all sat around the fire pit one evening. The nighttime illumination of the property is lovely. We can't wait to go back for another relaxing stay!
I'm so glad to hear that your getaway to the mountains with friends was everything you hoped it would be! Did you ever get over to Stick Boy Bakery for those cream cheese cinnamon roles I recommended? Hope so!
Thank you for staying at Tweetsie House and for giving us a five-star review! Please book with us again the next time you're in the area.
Perfect mountain getaway!
We spent spring break week enjoying Tweetsie House! I was actually surprised to realize it was less than three and a half hours from the Raleigh area. How nice to be able to get away to the mountains in just a few hours!
The cabin is a good size (with lots of bedrooms and bathrooms to choose from), but somehow still manages to feel wonderfully cozy. When we weren't out and about, we spent most of our time in the living room in front of the fire, because it's true what they say: "If you don't like the weather in Boone, wait five minutes." The temperature ranged from the 30s (with snow!) to the high 70s during our stay.
The house is nestled in a secluded "hollow", so it felt very private, despite being only minutes from both Boone and Blowing Rock. The back deck is wonderful...so peaceful out there surrounded by all the trees. And although we didn't get to see any animals, we could hear raccoons and deer scampering about at night.
It was great not having to worry about bringing sheets and towels, as everything was provided for us. All we had to worry about was buying food for breakfast and lunch at the cabin, and we decided to eat dinner out each evening. We especially enjoyed Basil's, Joy Bistro, Sunny Rock Eggs and Things (ok, we did eat out for breakfast one morning), and Stick Boy Bread Co.
A few items of interest in the area:
- Foggy Pine Books - sweet (and well-stocked) little bookstore near App State; they had a nice children's section and our kids loved petting the cat
- The Greenway - perfect place to walk with the family; we saw about a dozen deer just before sundown
- Mast General Store (Valle Crucis and Boone)
- Dutch Creek Trails - wonderfully warm people, well-mannered horses, and trails straight up the side of the mountain (probably more like a big hill to the locals, but still...)
- High Gravity - our kids loved getting harnessed in and climbing around like monkeys
- Kilwins ice cream - oh my...seriously the best ice cream we had ever had, and they had tons of other sweets as well
- The Blowing Rock - gorgeous views from the actual rock the town is named for...we lucked out with a clear blue sky and we could see forever!
We were very pleased with our stay at Tweetsie House and hope to return someday. The owners are wonderful and certainly have made an effort to equip the house with everything you need to feel at home!
Thank you for such a glowing review. It sounds like your family really made the most of all the local area has to offer! Thank you for sharing the highlights. :) Please come back to Tweetsie House anytime.
Warm Cozy Cabin with Great Views!
Beautiful Cabin! Very Cozy. Great Views. Word of advice only drive a 4 wheel Drive when visiting. Very Convienent to App Ski Resort, Downtown, Tubing. Would definitely stay there again.
So glad you and your family had a lovely visit to Tweetsie House! I know that the threat of winter weather cut your trip a day short but please rebook with us next time you want to visit Boone/Blowing Rock and we'll give you a free extra night to make up for any inconvenience.
