Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday cabin in Waynesville - Elk View Lodge

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms + Loft + Den, 4.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10-12)

Breathtaking Custom Log Home in the Great Smoky Mountains. This beautiful large log home has plush furnishing. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Choose from 3 large master suites (king beds), each with a private bath and private balcony or the nice size queen bedroom with a separate bathroom. The upstairs master, with loft, has a Jacuzzi tub, private balcony and spectacular views.

Gather around the pool table for a friendly game or watch the 50 inch HD TV in the family room. Curl up in front of the wood burning fireplace (wood provided) in the living room with a good book. You will find books throughout the house. It is situated on 10 private acres, surrounded by trails, a stream and amazing views.

You will find skiing, hiking, tubing, white water rafting, shopping, fishing, golfing, the Biltmore in Asheville and much more in the surrounding area. Downtown Waynesville has excellent restaurants and shops to choose from, so be sure to visit Main Street, Waynesville. You are only 15 minutes from Cataloochee Valley to see the protected elk (you may see an elk wandering on our road going up the mountain on our property), 30 minutes from Asheville, and 45 minutes to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. Four wheel drive may be required in inclement weather.

Mountain dream escape

  • 5 of 5

We recently visited Elk View with 3 other couples. The verdict was unanimous; we all agreed we'd love to go back! The house was absolutely beautiful, immaculate with a state of the art kitchen including everything one would possibly need to prepare an upscale meal, beautiful bedrooms with very comfortable beds, AMAZING decks for viewing GOD'S CREATION and just a WONDERFUL setting in which to refuel, replenish the spirit and celebrate friendship!!! Each time I spoke with owner Don I felt we were old friends:). We all gave this property "super stars," WELL worth the "climb" to get there!!!!

Absolutely a great view of the smokey mountains!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for the entire week and didn't want to leave. Once we got up to the house, the view was amazing, getting up every morning and seeing the wonderful view with a cup of coffee on the deck made you feel like you just were in another dream world. We visited the surrounding area, Waynesville is a great little town, it had great restaurants, great artwork, and we even saw the elk , both the bull and female were out when we visited. Great experience!!! We really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, being able to lay back and red, cook, eat, and enjoy family, take daily walks with the dogs and kids. even "smelled" what we thought we some bear "leftovers" along the way, at least my dog thought so???? We will be coming back, that ids for sure... Can't get enough of a place like this... Just don't want to let too much of a good thing out so everyone catches on to how great it was...

This was by far one of the most incredible homes with views that simply took my breath away. As others have shared, be forewarned that the gravel road to the property was more than intimidating for those of us who aren't used to navigating mountains. However we got used to it right away. Don is super nice and super helpful, and I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a perfect secluded getaway above the clouds.

Peaceful seclusion at its best

  • 5 of 5

The trek up the mountain caused us all to be very nervous the first time we drove up, but once we arrived at the top we saw amazing views from a very secluded setting., but is located within an hour or two drive to most of the attractions the area has to offer. The house was very well equipped with more than we would ever have needed. Everything in the house was newer and in great condition. Plenty of room for all of us, the lower level game room was a wonderful space for family time. The decks offered a place to relax and take in the views while watching the wildlife. We saw so many hummingbirds. Don was great to deal with. Always available to answer questions and make recommendations of local restaurants and attractions. He even held us find out what channel the Cleveland cavs game was going to be on. This house was more than we expected and would stay in again. We highly recommend this house to anyone looking to stay in the area.

It was very clean, comfortable and the views were awesome. Loved the quick hot water especially when taking a shower. Once you arrive at the top, you do not want to leave.

Relaxation At Its Best!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great mountain house. We have stayed in many houses throughout the NC mountains and this one is exceptional. It is very well equipped with everything you need. There are plenty of common areas (both inside and out) to spend time together with family/friends or get some quiet time alone. A nice stream nearby provides a soothing sound to accompany your stay. Additionally, the roads make for great walks due to very little traffic. Finally, Don is one of the best owners I have worked with - very responsive, helpful and knowledgable. We had a wonderful stay - Thanks Don!!
