DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE!

  • 5 of 5

There are no words to describe this amazing cabin! The photos on here don't even do it justice. Every day we woke up it felt like we were in Heaven. The view is spectacular! There are 2 main, huge porches with ample seating to enjoy the outside and several smaller ones. Our favorite one is the one right outside the kitchen where there is shade, multiple hummingbirds that feed throughout the day and the sound of the creek running through the mountain. I could stay out there all day. The bedrooms are huge and the beds are the most comfortable of any beds I've slept on away from home. The bedding is incredibly soft too. All the bedrooms are capable of being very dark at night and then allowing nice light in during the day. The kitchen is awesome! The gas stove makes cooking fast and its fully stocked with everything we needed and more. The dishes are beautiful and there's a ton of nice sized mugs, unlike many places that have only one or two small ones. The furniture is all very comfortable. The pool table is really nice and well maintained with plenty of accessories. The jacuzzi tub is so wonderful that I'm thinking of getting one at my home now. The water is super hot and great pressure in the showers. The decor is wonderful and the floors are gorgeous. The A/C works great if you need to use it. This cabin is so splendid that its the first time I've traveled away from home and didn't want to return. I could easily live there in that very cabin. Theres a nice little hike right outside the door but just walking up and down the road to the main road is enough of a hike. The road is quite windy and steep at some points and scared me the first time we drove it because there's only room enough for one car at a time. Someone has to back up sometimes to let another through. After the first time driving it, it was second nature though and so very worth it! I can't wait to return!

Another Great Mountain Vacation!!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home! We especially enjoyed the deck and the fantastic view. Our last night as we conversed outside on the rockers, a beautiful rainbow appeared. This was the perfect ending to another mountain vacation. The beds, bedding, and towels were top of the line. We loved our visits to the Smoky Mountain Park and drives on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Make sure to see Soco Falls and Waterrock Knob, both spectacular and within a short drive from the house. We enjoyed the Wheels through Time Museum and Elevated Mountain Distillery in Maggie Valley. Angelos and the Sweet Onion were both very good restaurants in Waynesville. The trolley ride in Asheville was well worth the time. The kitchen was well equipped as we prepared at least one meal everyday.

The experience from start to finish was incredible! Don was so nice and very hospitable! The drive up is bumpy so make sure to rent an SUV but it's worth the ride! Thank you Don!!!

Mountain paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Firstly, our hosts/owners were very friendly, helpful and a pleasure to work with...they always responded quickly and were extremely patient in helping us find our way up the mountain our first time up! Don stayed on the phone with us and "guided" us all the way up. It is quite a trek up the mountain the first couple of times but it got easier each time and by the end of our stay we were pros at maneuvering the trail! The home is gorgeous and the views were among the most beautiful we have ever seen. We really enjoyed our time on the deck, cooking out, etc. The beds were extra-comfy, the kitchen was fabulous, and the water pressure was very good. The location was close to Waynesville (about 25 min.), I-40 (about 15 min.), GSMNP and the elk preserve (about 25 min.), and the Blue Ridge Parkway is nearby, also. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to returning in the future. The only thing we would have changed would be to have a TV in the "gathering" area on the main floor...it would have been nice to cozy up by the fireplace and watch some movies, etc. Thank you once again, Don and Kathryn, for your wonderful hospitality!

Great spot for a fall getaway from the heat of FL

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect for what we were seeking. Kids and grandkids came and went with plenty of room. The view from the numerous decks was absolutely spectacular. Inside the 3 MBs are huge, kitchen well equipped and the stone fireplace was huge and held great fires. Waynesville and the surrounding area had plenty to do including some very good restaurants. The drive up the mountain to the house is a little daunting the first time but as the guy who delivered the crib said, "it's easy compared to some I have to drive". We will certainly try to get back.

Mountain dream escape

  • 5 of 5

We recently visited Elk View with 3 other couples. The verdict was unanimous; we all agreed we'd love to go back! The house was absolutely beautiful, immaculate with a state of the art kitchen including everything one would possibly need to prepare an upscale meal, beautiful bedrooms with very comfortable beds, AMAZING decks for viewing GOD'S CREATION and just a WONDERFUL setting in which to refuel, replenish the spirit and celebrate friendship!!! Each time I spoke with owner Don I felt we were old friends:). We all gave this property "super stars," WELL worth the "climb" to get there!!!!
