About Bernadette Somerville
Hello! Thank you for checking out our listing! Simon is originally from Scotland and myself, from Toronto, Canada where we met. We have been living in Ottawa since 2001. We are both self employed and enjoy working from the comforts of home. We are also parents of two (so far, loving) teenagers. Simon works as an independent accounts manager for several local companies and I, Bernadette, work in my studio creating designs for clothing and home. We have traveled to West Coast Canada but have also visited Simon's family in Scotland and, just recently, my family in the Philippines. We have been visiting Turks and Caicos for almost two decades! We enjoy the great weather and friendly, easy going locals. Although we've had amazing fun in Providenciales, GRAND TURK is where we now enjoy our holidays. During our visits to Turks and Caicos, we've enjoyed family holidays, a wedding, and contributing to the renovation of new homes and Inne for others to enjoy. Thank you for visiting our page for the property in Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands!! Please feel free to contact us with any further questions or concerns.

Why Bernadette Somerville chose Cockburn Town
The house is located on Grand Turk where island life is quieter and more serene. The locals are friendly - the beaches and ocean warm and welcoming . The home serves as a vacation haven (along with 'Simon's House' next door) for us and our closest relatives residing mostly in Canada and Scotland. The family has owned property on Providenciales but life there although fun and exciting, has gotten too busy. We all now love the seclusion of Grand Turk and it's welcoming and friendly people.

Serene island getaway in paradise
My family of 5 stayed for a week here in Grand Turk. The historical Robert’s house circa 1850 is a charming place to visit— located walking distance to area restaurants, dive/snorkeling companies, near the quaint downtown and most importantly directly on the beach— what more could we ask for. Helen, the owner, happened to be staying in the house next door, and we enjoyed visiting with her. She is most hospitable!!!
As far as location, we were steps away from the beach with snorkeling from shore and spectacular sunset views. The SUPs provided were an added delight! Most of our days were spent outdoors— in the many lounge chairs, hammock, outdoor sofa, or actually in the water. We took advantage of the breezes and would often eat our supper outside.
The pictures and description accurately described this home. The kitchen was well stocked, considering that we cooked most meals. The bedrooms were very charming and the cot was already prepared upon our arrival (remember we are a family of 5)
For those who enjoy a traditional/historical Caribbean home on a more quiet and relaxed island— this would be the place. Grand Turk is definitely an island community- a place where people smile, wave and genuinely welcome you. It is a very safe island that fits more so with what a traditional Caribbean island used to be. It is not over run by hotels, chain restaurants, night life- if that is what you’re looking for then Provo would be a better option. Grand Turk is peaceful, quiet, slow paced and more quaint— where donkeys, horses and potcakes (local dogs) run free— where you can ride around the island in a golf cart instead of cars— where you can go anywhere and be included and more importantly feel like you belong. It is a home away from home
