Chalet Lacs d'Amour
Chalet Lacs D'Amour is situated in the Savoyarde Hamlet of Le Fornet, two kilometres from Val d'Isere, so combining mountain charm and tranquillity with the excitement of one of the world's top ski resorts. The chalet is divided into 4 apartments, sleeping a maximum of 20 people. The largest of the 4 apartments has 3 bedrooms on 3 levels, including fireplace, sauna and jacuzzi.
At 1,950 metres the chalet is surrounded by snow for six months in the winter, and mountain pastures with alpine flowers in the summer. The Le Fornet cable car is a few minutes walk downhill from the chalet, giving access to winter and summer skiing. In the winter you have the choice of a blue or black run back to the front door of the chalet. In the ski season a shuttle bus service runs from Le Fornet every five minutes throughout the day to Val d'Isere. You can also take Le Fornet cable car and gondolas up on to the Le Fornet runs and then catch a chair lift over on to the other slopes in the area.
For all our clients we have recently entered into a collaboration with one of the best local ski shops who will give a special 40% - 50% discount arrangement for the hire of ski equipment!!! They will also collect you from the village by van and bring you back with your boots and skis or snow boards.
In the Summer enjoy the long walks from the chalet up to waterfalls and a lake. The alpine flowers are truly breathtaking and the only sounds will be the birds and the marmottes and the sound of the river.

Sue Pickering purchased this Chalet in 1985
Why Sue Pickering chose Le Fornet
We chose this chalet as it combines a peaceful rural setting with the excitement of a major ski resort where snow is guaranteed every Winter.
What makes this Chalet unique
This Chalet has unique views of the mountains and forest. It is the last house going towards the mountains in the village of Le Fornet so you are guaranteed uninterrupted views of the mountains and forest.
Pool / Spa
80's style, very poor comfort, smell bad
for 9 people?? better to say 4/6 adults and 5/3 children as it is impossible for adults to sleep in the room with 3 very tiny beds.
the flat is 80's style, from the furniture to the tableware. We found the flat dirty and the smell in general was bad... 1 small screen/TV hidden in a window at the end of a corridor, 1 sofa of 3 places and 1 sofa of 2 places for 9 people, a carpet full of dust... to resume I will not advise it at all if you want to have a comfortable and relaxed time after skying. Sauna is ok, jacuzzi is internal and very old style. The smell of the bathroom with big bathtub was so bad, and it was impossible to close the door of the toilet as it was so small!!!
Positive points: the location, the fireplace, the ski room
We were very surprised to read this review. The guests in the flat did not contact us to voice their concerns. There have been issues with a smell from the downstairs Jacuzzi but if we had been contacted we would have sent up a plumber to rectify the problem. Similarly if they found the flat to be dirty they should have contacted me and I would have asked the cleaning crew to go to the flat and give it a thorough clean.
Many of our guests are clients who return every year as they love the peace of staying in the village opposite the forest but close to the Le Fornet ski lift. I think it just shows you cannot please everyone.
Beautifully appointed chalet
We spent a wonderful week in the triplex apartment, which is beautifully appointed, and very well situated. Le Fornet is a charming and very quiet village - no shops there, but the bus service to Val is very efficient. We never waited more than 5-10 minutes, including in the evening, and the trip takes 7 or so mins.
Despite the poor snow coverage it is possible to ski right up to the chalet, by going 200m or so off piste from the blue run (very easy).
The skiing was lovely, with access to the Pissaillas Glacier from Le Fornet téléphérique, a 10 min walk away.
The chalet itself is lovely with a log fire, and beautiful sauna and hot tub. The kitchen is very well equipped.
The local restaurant l'Arolay is great - booking well ahead of time is essential.
Hoping to go back next year...
A great stay in Le Fornet - Val D'isere
I organised a family holiday and found the Triplex through this website. We had a wonderful time for the week. Le Fornet is a small village with 30 odd chalets about 1,5km from Val D'Isere. There are buses every 10 mns and it is a very easy trip.
The chalet is lovely. There were 7 of us and we had ample room. 2 nice bedrooms and a VERY small one (very much like a small boat cabin with 3 singles). If you sleep 3 in that room make sure to leave the door open for air!
Great space for the kitchen, diners and living room with a nice fire place.
The chalet is the last one in the village so you will need chains or snow tyres if you want to anywhere close to it to offload your luggages....otherwise be prepared for a trek up the road.
Likewise, this is not ski in ski out (but very little number of places in Val d'Isere are). Le Fornet Cable Car is a 10mns walk which for sure makes for a great warm up before you start skiing!! You can get a little bit closer on the way back through the only blue trail on the way back and cut the journey to less than 5 mns getting back to the chalet.
You could ski back assuming there is enough snow and the black run through the forest is open which was not the case for us.... but irrespective it was a great place to stay at. Enough room, peaceful and really lovely.
The owner was also very nice to deal with through the entire process.
In the Winter access to the ski areas of Val d'Isere and Tignes. Leave the chalet in the morning and catch the cable car and ski all day and then ski back to the chalet at night. We have made arrangements with a local ski shop who will rent you skis and snowboards at an excellent discount. They are experts in finding the most comfortable boots and will come and collect you by van from the chalet and take you down and bring you back with your equipment.
In Summer enjoy the mountain scenery and alpine flowers. There are many spectacular walks to see the Ibex on the Italian frontier, or trek to see the many waterfalls. There is horse riding, tennis lessons, trampoline and circus schools for the children plus rock climbing, walks with guides and and the possibility to learn para gliding. There is a nine hole golf course in the neighbouring resort of Tignes. If you have young children there is a Sports Club where they will be looked after every afternoon and participate in numerous outdoor activities. Val d'Isere also boasts a wonderful inside swimming pool with swimming lanes, a large pool with jacuzzis and sauna. There is also a well equipped gym at the Swimming Pool and the possibility of having spa treatment.
In the valley of Le Manchet the children can have horse riding, tennis and circus school lessons.
A free bus service runs during the ski season and also the Summer season so a car is not a necessity. You can also rent mountain bikes and explore the mountain trails.
For the Triplex, Duplex, and Studio, the rental may be paid in Pounds Sterling.
