Perfect place to stay in Yellowknife
We found this VRBO perfect for our stay in Yellowknife. It was central to everything we wanted to do there while being away from the downtown area. We chose not to rent a car and other than cabs to and from the airport found we could walk wherever we wanted to go within 15 min ( Prince of Wales Heritage Center, Legislative Assembly, Old Town, Downtown diamond center,...). Imran and his wife were great hosts. It was more like visiting family. They stocked the refrigerator with OJ, milk and eggs and fruit as well as having bread and snacks. They definitely made us feel welcome, even offered to drop us by places but we wanted to walk. They live in the Niven Lake area and there is a lovely trail around Niven Lake very close to them. We took a snowmobile trail right out the back of their home down to the Back Bay of Grest Slave Lake and then walked across it to the Back Bay cemetery and the Ice Caves. The areas for the Vrbo were very comfortable. A nice bedroom and bathroom on the main floor and then a whole kitchen and living area downstairs. Really quite a lot of space. We cooked most our meals because we find it hard to find the vegan fare we prefer at most restaurants. The kitchen had all we needed and more. Peppermint tea was nice for a tea lover in addition to the coffee selection. There were thoughtful touches in all the areas so that we felt very comfortable. The hosts had signs up as reminders of things like leaving one’s shoes at the front door and given the snowy stuff one walks through that was a great idea and good to have that information communicated so the arrangement is good for all. The views out the windows of this VRBO are so pretty..out on Grest Slave Lake. We went on tours to see the Northern Lights(recommend Yellowknife Vacations) but if it was a no moon night you would be able to see the lights from inside. Another activity we really enjoyed was dog sledding at Enodah kennels where you get to mush. The people there are lovely and will make your experience...as well as the dogs of course! Again we would totally stay here again if we revisit Yellowknife. Thank you for a great stay!
