Overall a Great Place to Stay
The apartment was very clean and uncluttered, which I loved! The location was wonderful and I felt very safe as there was a locked gate and door to go through before you could get into the building.
The owner was very communicative and addressed any issues I had immediately.
The apartment is around the corner from the Paulina train station, which is great! There are plenty of restaurants nearby.
The bed in the bedroom was very comfortable and I really enjoyed using the desk as my vanity. There are two closets full of hangers, which was a very nice touch. Most homes I rent only have a couple of hangers.
I’m extremely picky about where I stay as I have OCD and some may find what I’m about to say as being too picky. Haha
The listing says there are two bedrooms, but considers the sofa bed in the living room a bedroom. There were a few basics missing, such as: hand towels, dish cloths, trash bags, and dish towels (property manager did drop off two dish towels after I notified the owner, but no dish cloths or hand towels.) In fairness, I did not mention the trash bags since I got a few from my son’s apartment. I also borrowed some hand towels from my son. There were plenty of bath towels. :)
There are three keys provided, which are for the gate, building, and apartment. The keys are almost identical, so it would be a nice touch to label them: Gate, Bldg, Apt.
The apartment door is incredibly hard to lock from the inside. I had to pull the handle with all of my weight to get the deadbolt to lock and it took try after try. I couldn’t just lock the doorknob because it wasn’t secure and the door could practically be pushed open. My son is big and strong and he even had a hard time locking the door. It’s easier to lock from the outside, but still difficult.
I would definitely stay here again, but would make sure that I was prepared by ensuring that the missing linens are made available and bring my own trash bags. This is my 4th personal property stay in Chicago and the only one that I’d stay in again.
Thanks Syed for hosting me!
Great location in lovely neighborhood. After a few hiccups, lack of heating and broken sofa bed It was a good place to stay.
