About the property

Riverside Holiday Cottage Nr The Iconic Wroxham Bridge. 2-Bedroom Pet-Friendly

Star Cottage is a 2-bedroom (sleeps 4) riverside holiday cottage in the village of Wroxham, in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. The cottage is close to the famous and iconic Wroxham Bridge and has the great benefit of being on the downstream side of the bridge where all the activity takes place! Star Cottage guests can relax in the lounge or on their private patio while watching the ever-changing scenery of wildlife and boating activities taking place on the river before them.

Guests may fish directly from the cottage lawns (in season only), and many other activities such as cycling, canoeing, walking and horse-riding are available very close by - as are a range of pubs, cafes, restaurants and local shopping in Wroxham village centre, which is only a short walk away. The cottage has it’s own private parking but since Wroxham village has a railway station and excellent bus services, so you can easily holiday at Star Cottage without needing a car at all if required.

So, whether you are looking for an energetic holiday or a relaxing one, Star Cottage is the ideal location. And don’t forget that Wroxham is within easy exploring distance of the Norfolk coast, much beautiful countryside and quaint local villages – or even city-centre shopping in Norwich.

The cottage itself sleeps up to four guests in two comfortable bedrooms, one double and one twin. The whole property has been progressively re-decorated to a high standard by the current owners, ready for the 2014 season.

On the ground floor the cottage has an entrance hall with storage and cloakroom, with a large open-plan lounge, dining and kitchen area making-up the rest of the ground floor, with French doors leading out onto a private patio, complete with garden furniture.

Upstairs is a family bathroom including full-size bath with electric shower over. The main double bedroom has views across the river, and includes a dressing table, built-in wardrobe and room for a travel cot if required. The main bedroom also includes a television for those late-night movies!

The smaller twin bedroom also benefits from a built-in wardrobe, and linen and duvets for all beds is included, with beds made-up for your arrival.

Star Cottage may be booked for either full weeks or short breaks lasting 3 or 4 days. In either case a variety of start and end dates are available, subject to any existing bookings – if you have any non-standard requirements please get in touch and we will try very hard to accommodate your needs.

Well-behaved pets are welcome at Star Cottage, and please note that electricity is INCLUDED in the price – no nasty extra bills!. Towels (2 per guest) are provided, and broadband Wi-Fi is available

Guestbook comments from the owner

We visited Star Cottage for a short break at the end of May with elderly mother in law. We found the cottage cozy, comfortable, and well equipped. Mum was able to sit in the lounge and enjoy the peace and quiet whilst watching lots of interesting things happening on the river & enjoyed watching the antics of the ducks geese and swans but particularly enjoyed seeing the herons. The shops are a easy short walk away and we enjoyed shopping in Roy's of Wroxham the '" worlds largest village store'', walking along the river, boat trips, and the Bure Valley Railway. We could park right up to the front door which was very conveinient for elderly mum in law.

Perfect location

  • 4 of 5

A lovely little cottage in a beautiful location. Arrived the first evening to find the hot tap in the kitchen broken and the fire not working. Fortunately there was another heater in the lounge so we didn’t freeze. I rang Simon? in the morning and he assured me that all would be fixed and when we returned from a day out all was as it should be. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend. We would all like to make a return trip. Thank you.

The property was nice but not very clean. The picture of the property is very misleading, there is now a boat dock in front of the cottage, with a boat that is nothing to do with the cottage, permanently moored there. As we booked the property because of its water frontage so that we could do some fishing it was very disappointing. The lounge was very cramped due to a large table which was restricting.

Owner's Response: Hi Frank Many thanks for your comments, and I hope you had a nice holiday. It is true that the riverside contains a new boat mooring in front of the cottage, but it doesn't affect the view of the river and there is still a large amount of lawn there (in fact the lawn has been re-done and is nicer than it was before). The opportunity for guests to fish has actually improved as well because there's more river frontage available to fish from than before, and guests can also bring (or hire locally) their own boat and moor it on site as well - the cottage has always had it's own boat mooring but now they can be moored closer to the cottage Thanks again, Jeremy Arnold, Star Cottage

Cosy cottage in Wroxham

  • 5 of 5

The cottage has everything necessary for a comfortable stay for up to 4 people. The bed and other furniture was comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. Wroxham village is within a 10 minute walk. Roy's has everything you would possibly need. It was fun to watch the swans, ducks and other birds on the river. The cottage is well situated to Norwich as well as the coast if you have a car. The wifi is fast and fine for regular email but if you want to be on Facebook or need to look at websites that have a lot of graphic images it is limited. There are other free wifi networks available from time to time but they are sporadic and limited as well. Overall we had a nice stay and Jeremy was very helpful.

Superb Location

  • 5 of 5

Star Cottage is compact, it has everything that you need for a comfortable stay. The property was very clean with comfortable beds . The location was the best that we have stayed in at Wroxham, the patio doors gave us a great view of the river and the wild life, we had a heron look in through the window, lots of

swans, geese, 2 Egyptian geese, ducks and 2 otters were seen on the lawn, our 2 dogs were fascinated. Wroxham is a great centre for a holiday, we went to Norwich, Cromer,Horsey and Caister. We had an interesting trip on a large pleasure boat, The Queen of the Broads which is moored very close to Star cottage.

The weather was sunny but with a very cold wind so after a cold day out we were very pleased to return to the warmth and comfort of Star Cottage. We would love to return again, it was a very good find.
