Great place for families or friends to explore the area

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at the farm house for a week while visiting the area and attending DDay 73 festival activities. It was a great location and easy to find just off the interstate N13. With Caen and Bayuex on one side and Caretan and St Mere-Eglise. Arrival was quick and easy. The place is clean and well equipped for everything you will need for your stay. Bring your own bathroom supplies (soap, shampoo, hairdryer, etc). They supply towels, sheets and the basics. We would visit the farmer's market in Port Bessin in the morning and make wonderful gourmet meals for dinner. There is sitting outside to relax or enjoy a meal. All bedrooms are up stairs with two bedrooms and one bath on each floor. The bottom floor has a comfortable living space, large kitchen with eat-in dinning space. The washer and dryer and half bath on this bottom level also made for comfort and convenience. Would stay here again or recommend it for families or friends looking for a omfort place in the beautiful French county side. Larger groups could work with the owners to book rooms at the chateau or other house connected to this property. When arriving look for the chateau entry then your private entrance is the next right. Easy to miss the first time there but simple to find.

Beach-lovers will be happy to note that Omaha Beach is merely 5 kilometres from the house, and golfers can tee off at Port-en-Bessin Golf Course, 7 kilometres away. You’ll also find superb bars, restaurants and a supermarket within 10 kilometres of your door.

While the comfort of this well-appointed house may be difficult to abandon, there is much to explore in the Normandy region. Popular day trips around the area include sightseeing at the area’s war monuments including the Normandy American Cemetery, hiking along the cliffs of Falaise d’Etretat, visiting Claude Monet's House and Gardens and exploring the Abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel, a UNESCO World Heritage site. If you’re feeling adventurous, you could even take a day trip to Paris.
