Lovingly renovated by owner with unique architectural finds. Pine paneling and pine floors throughout. Each bedroom has individual private bath and television. Watch the exquisite sunrise over the water and equally exquisite moonrise. Catch your own crab off the bulkhead and enjoy a feast on the screen porch. Bike across the bridge to Topsail Island.

Enchanted Cottage

The official name is Cozy Waterfront Cabin, but my cousin and I thought it was the Enchanted Cottage. It is adorable and sparkly clean. The entire place is filled with eclectic treasures. We saw something new at each turn. It was like spending time in a museum with many interesting things from the past and collections. The furniture is comfy, functional, and the kitchen is well stocked with everything we needed. It is located on a beautiful river with places to sit and enjoy the view.

Be careful of the uneven floors, but we navigated just fine for a quartet of seniors. We enjoyed our stay.

Only issue I had is it is a bit over grown, scratched my new truck pulling into the driveway. The house and the property is awesome, someone put a lot of thought into the place for sure!

Clean, full of all amenities you might need, extremely comfortable.

I stayed with my husband and two children (7 and 9) plus little baby. We had a great time and all loved the place. The screened porch was fantastic, and the house spacious and inviting. Highly recommend.

This place was perfect for our family! Fun and full of adventure!

We had a great time! The place was so eclectic, nostalgic, and interesting. The view by the fire pit, along the sound, was way fun - we caught crabs, fish, saw an alligator, saw the strawberry moon, a shooting star and enjoyed flounder gigging!! Only 10 minutes from the beach made it the perfect vacation place for us!! Thank you so much for letting us stay. We highly recommend for any adventurous family. Blessings!

Quaint? But Not Quiet.

4/11 to 4/14 2017:

This might have been a great place for us to relax in magnificent outdoor lounging weather while enjoying quiet views of marshland with creeping tide-waters. Unfortunately, starting day one, directly across from Cozy Waterfront Cabin , a marine construction company started pile driving and installing a dock. Imagine a crew of guys yelling over crane noise directing placement of posts, then a powerful piston repetitively blasts the post/pile into the mud – for hours each day. Of course this ruined the serenity of this place during the best part of each day of our stay.

I spoke to Julie twice, otherwise leaving messages every day, expressing our disappointment/dissatisfaction. Apologetic at first, she offered no recompense whatsoever for our shattered experience.

The accommodations themselves scream of ‘supplemental income generator’. The foundation is crumbling, doors don’t fit, windows won’t budge, rotted sills, molding and thresholds, rusted latches, a couple of concerning weak spots in the floor, ceiling fans and lights that don’t work, confusing electric control placement – all at premium rental pricing.

The décor is of an eclectic vintage “cottage” accent. But is really more aptly described as cheap flea market finds thrown up to fool you into thinking it’s artistic and quaint.

I am fully aware Julie bears no direct responsibility with respect to the peace and tranquility you’ll receive during your stay. Although, on the otherhand, I do not feel she is completely off the hook. Does an owner/operator have a duty to the customer from due diligence to stay informed about the possible degradation to a product’s quality he/she is selling? If so, she should’ve blocked out dates that could have negatively impacted the patron’s expectations of this product’s overall value had she been vigilant in the city’s construction permits. Perhaps, even offering discounts if one were willing to accept any possible distractions, thus offsetting a patron’s surprise.

The ancient Latin phrase rings true once again: caveat emptor (buyer beware).

So, property manager's lack of awareness for potential disturbances, the disregard to patron’s overall satisfaction, neglect of the property’s structural appeal and function support my conclusion that this owner/manager is more interested in maintaining a steady income stream than maintaining a high value vacation rental experience. I rate our rental with one star.

Owner's Response: Despite my tracking down the marine construction company owner, I could not halt construction at a property that does not belong to us. The construction has since been completed. During your stay, I also spoke with a VRBO representative. That conversation is on file. Many of our furnishings and art were gathered from our travels. They mean a great deal to us and we enjoy sharing them with others. I'm sorry if this appeared cheap to you. We are addressing all concerns you have noted. Unfortunately, homes near the water shift. Soft floor repair is in progress. I have checked the windows and all are opening and closing. Ceiling fans and lights are in working order. Electrical switches are marked. We will continue to work hard to maintain a safe, enjoyable environment for our visitors.
