It is on the ground floor of 'Les Hauts des Esserts' building, which is in Morillon 1100 (Les Esserts), and has free wi-fi and car parking. It is right next to the pistes and Nursery slopes, and only 75 metres from the Sairon chairlift which links with the Grand Massif lift system. There is one double bedroom, one small bedroom with bunk beds (sleep 2) and a sofa bed with a pull-out bed in the lounge. There is also a bathroom (with shower over the bath), separate toilet, kitchen area, balcony looking onto the nursery slope, and a ski locker. Wi-fi is included in the price (not available in the summer). The apartment is close to the Children's nursery and beginner's area. More at www.ot-morillon.fr

Ski details: Morillon is the home of the 2006 Olympic Downhill Champion, Antoine Deneriaz. The Grand Massif lift pass covers 260 kilometres of pistes and covers Morillon/ Samoens/ Les Carroz and Flaine (including the famous 14 kms Cascade run from Flaine to Sixt). If you are based in Morillon 1100 there is no need to drive or take a bus (like you do in Samoens). You can ski door to door. Most of the runs are wide blues and reds through the trees, with easy access to Les Carroz and Samoens. The lift pass includes a days skiing in the Portes du Soleil via nearby Les Gets. Weekend or midweek breaks are available. There is an ESF ski school and Nursery, with a Jam Park with jumps and bumps. There is also a toboggan area. Torchlit descents and complimentary vin chaud are put on in High season. There are weekly markets in Morillon and Samoens. Other activities include Cross Country skiing in the Giffre valley, snowshoe walks and parapenting for the brave. Car hire is usually cheaper than taxis or buses.

Travel details: By Air. Geneva, Lyon and Chambery airports are nearby. Morillon is one hour's drive from Geneva on the A40 motorway. Car Hire (from the Swiss side) can be found on the discount websites. We have details of local transfer and taxi companies.

By Car. You can print an itinerary on the AA site by entering 'Calais/France to 74440/France'. A day's drive (850 km) from Calais or Zeebrugge avoids Paris as the Motorways run via Rheims, Troyes, Dijon, Macon and Geneva. Tolls cost about £50 each way.

By Bus. There is a service from Geneva Airport to Morillon and Samoens. Once in Morillon 1100 a car is not needed but might be useful for visiting the other resorts in the Giffre valley such as Samoens and Sixt, or to get to the Portes du Soleil resorts of Les Gets, Morzine and Avoriaz, or to the Chamonix valley .

A great base for exploring the Grand Massif!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at this apartment in January of this year. We were lucky to arrived just as 50cm of snow fell at the resort!

Very clean and presentable apartment and a fantastic location for the nursery slope as well as the main chair lift to the upper slopes. I literally skied to the door of the boot room! It might be a bit of a squeeze with anymore than more than 3 adults in the room, but for a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids) it would be perfect!

Short end of season ski trip

  • 4 of 5

Was looking for a ski resort within 1hr of Geneva airport to allow maximum time on the slopes. From my initial contact with Alastair, he was extremeley helpful in providing swift response to any questions as well as giving other relevant info.

Appartment was very functional. It was for 3 male adults who wanted a base close to the slopes and could use to cook if required. All in all a good trip and would recomend this appartment for those looking for similar type trip.

Perfect in every way.

  • 5 of 5

I arrived with three good friends for a guys week of skiing.

I have to say as I never organised something like this before I was anxious.

Alastair helped me and was readily available for all questions - even the silly ones.

I would recommend the Apt wholeheartedly.

It is warm, comfortable and so close to the slopes/gondola.

I'm just back home and want to go back again now.

I will certainly be coming back with my family soon.

Thanks Alastair.

Great location close to the slopes

  • 5 of 5

Perfect apartment location, close to the slopes and village. Plenty of space for 4 adults. The village is lovely with a few great places to eat. We had a brilliant week skiing and could ski right back to across the road from the building, even though the resort is quite low down. The communication from Alastair was fabulous! Thank you, we'd love to visit again!

The flat is neat, simple and conveniently placed.

  • 3 of 5

We spent the last week of February in the flat. The location is good for access to the slopes. As the snow cover was great we managed to ski back in everyday! It's a short walk to the main shops and the very few restaurant/bar of the resort. It's good value for money for a family of 4. At 5 we felt a bit crowded, but still very manageable. Overall a good experience. Summer must be nice too as the balcony is really large!

Perfect location and accomodation

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 4 with two small children and booked this accomodation for ease of taking children to and fro between ski lessons and child care- which it certainly was. The accomodation and location was perfect for us - it was comfortable, had enough room and kitchen things to cook with, and it was at entrance level so quick to pop in and out of during the day was easy. The balcony was very handy as it was warm most days so we enjoyed having lunch there in the sun. Beds were comfortable too! Everything was straight forward and we look forward to returning!

Communication with landlords was always easy and answered all questions we had. Thank you Alastiar.

Home of the 2006 Olympic Downhill Champion, Morillon in the Grand Massif ski area is 1 hours drive from Geneva, or 2 hours from Chambery, and 20 minutes from the Geneva-Chamonix motorway . For skiers and snowboarders there are 260 kilometres of linked pistes on one lift pass. Morillon 1100 is a purpose built chalet style village linked by road, pistes and telecabine to the traditional village of Morillon. There is no need to drive to and from the lifts (as there is in Samoens), so you can ski to the apartment. Morillon 1100 has a Ski School (and Nursery), Ski hire shops, Restaurants, Bars, and a Supermarket. The old town of Samoens is 15 minutes drive away. The resorts of Flaine, Samoens, Les Carroz and Sixt are easily reached by blue and red ski runs. In the summer the lake and river offer a wide range of activities, including swimming, mountain biking, tennis, mini-golf, rafting, parapente, and golf. Lake Geneva and Chamonix are less than an hour away. Short breaks are available.

Other Activities: Snowboarding, parapente, river rafting, tree top zip wires.

Ski: The Grand Massif Ski area is one of the biggest in France. It has excellent lift and piste links between Morillon, Samoens, Les Carroz, Flaine and the famous 16 kilometer Cascade run from the top of flaine to Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval.

If you are based in Morillon 1100, there is no need to drive or take a bus to and from the lifts (as you do in Samoens). You can ski door to door. Most of the runs in Morillon are wide blues and reds through the trees ,with a Nursery area and Jam Park for the children. The slopes of Les Carroz are 1 lift away and it takes about half an hour to ski to Flaine or Samoens. The Grand Massif (hands free) lift pass covers all these areas and also includes a days skiing in nearby Les Gets, Morzine and the rest of the Portes de Soleil.
