Goriano is a small medieval town in the Abruzzo mountains. Small house (two people), well equipped with microwave, toaster over, clothes washer, TV/DVD. Located in the historic old centre of this mountain town, it has cool mornings, low humidity and breezes that come from the Adriatic which is only an hour away.
Sulmona is the closest (15 min) large town, with Pescara and Rome served by regular, direct trains and the A24/25 Autostrada.
Regular train service and two Ryanair Air hubs make this a great location to drop your suitcase, grab a backpack and head for Casablanca, Oslo, Germany, Paris, London and many more location in and out of Italy.
My grandparents were born here and I have many cousins remaining.
nick Rossi purchased this house in 2013
great location, in-expense for long term rentals
regular train service is very rare for small towns. Two hours to Rome, One house to the beach (Pescara)
Staying in Goriano Sicoli was great. The apartment was very smart and it was more like house setting than a rental. Everything was there and Nick the owner even had food on hand for our first night, so no hassle at the market for food. The place has a great view (every time we skyped friends or family we always took the computer out to the balcony so every could see our view). We met the neighbors and had a wonderful time having them up. The people of Goriano are very helpful if you initiate contact. There are great little stores and a fabulous bakery. We eat once at one of the local eateries (Maverick, interesting name for an Italian eatery) and the food and wine were first class. Abruzzi has wonderful produce and farm goods and it was a pleasure to go to the market. We would recommend a car as there are many small farms and towns in the area that are interesting as well. After a month stay in Rome we needed a break form the site-seeing and the school we attended. We highly recommend a stay at Nick’s place for something special another side of Italy that is well worth seeing.
remote location at 700 Meters, but with local train station and 10 minutes to nearest larger town, Raiano
