|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
6 beds in tree bedrooms. A bathroom with a shower and a outside Jacuzzi. A living-room with fire place and a exclusive view over mountains and national park. A second floor with satellite TV and sofas to relax and get your daily news from the rest of the world, or skip the TV and play cards or have a glass of vine. The house is located in a private area with a locked gate and not near any other houses so privacy to relax is maximized at this property. The nearest area is suitable for hikes and walks. Or to drive to multiple attractive locations that the are and south Iceland has to offer. Staying here you can plan many day trips and save on by having one place and a home away from home instead of always be packing and unpacking in different locations.
We have loved this area, and in 2009 my father bought this piece of land and build a nice house on it. Privacy and the view is the the biggest asset plus sitting in the hot pot in the evening after a long day of working or traveling.
Rather close to Reykjavik area and to major attraction in south west Iceland.
We loved our stay here and only wished we could have stayed longer! Would recommend to anyone!
What a fantastic place! We were a party of 6 (three couples) there to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday. There is plenty of room and we couldn't have chosen anywhere nicer to stay while in Iceland. Bjorn was great in responding to any questions or help we asked for leading up to the break and everything was certainly as described. He gave us perfect instructions and directions leading up to our stay. The views from nearly every angle of the house are fantastic and all well placed windows upstairs and down to see them. The house was lovely and warm with the option of the log burner and plenty of logs provided although it was very warm for the time of year. Not much snow unfortunately only on the mountain tops and we sadly didn't see the Northern Lights. The hot tub is absolutely fantastic and we were hardly out of it when we weren't travelling around. We didn't eat out but there is everything you need to make the perfect meal and relax. Just make sure you pick up food on your way through Reykjavik as there are no shops nearby. We explored the beautiful countryside and would very much recommend the Blue Lagoon, in the dark if you can! So relaxing and such an experience. It really is such a beautiful country and we would definitely recommend this lovely house to anyone thinking of visiting there. Thank you very much Bjorn for letting us stay there and helping to make my husbands birthday one to remember!
We really enjoyed our stay at Bjorn's home. It was just as pictured on VRBO, but better. My husband and I didn't want to leave the house after checking in, as it offered beautiful views of the hills and lake. The stand out of the trip was definitely the hot tub, which offered stunning views of the night sky. We got lucky and got to see the Northern lights two nights in a row, while sitting in the spa enjoying a glass of wine :) The house itself is very clean and comfortable. A few more towels, shampoo, and soap would have been great... but these were very small things. Overall we had a lovely time and would definitely stay here again if we return to the area. Further, Bjorn was very quick to respond to messages and easy to deal with. Five out of five stars :)
You couldn't ask for a nicer place to stay while in Iceland. The home was beautiful, as was the location. From there we were able to explore various sections of the country, heading off in a different direction each morning. Each night we returned to a beautiful view while relaxing in the hot tub. Bjorn provided us with all the necessary information in advance, so getting there and in was easy. I only wish we had been able to stay longer. 4 days is not enough to discover Iceland!
We absolutely loved this property in every single way! It was the perfect property to get away from it all while still being so incredibly close to everything. The views from the living room are astounding and were the best thing to wake up to every morning. Bjorn was easy to work with and incredibly responsive.
A couple things that are handy to know when staying at this location:
- Grab food before you leave Reykjavik. There isn't a grocery store once you leave town so be prepared! The kitchen is so wonderfully outfitted and the views are so spectacular that it makes for a wonderful evening in.
- If you do get desperate for food out, the Hotel Ion is within a 5-8 minute drive and the food was incredible! Make reservations!! They treated us really oddly, but we think that's because they aren't used to having visitors from outside the hotel dine with them.
- Vik and all the sites in between are an EASY day trip if you wake up early.
- The bedrooms get a little warm at night if you use the blackout curtains. It was also unseasonably hot when we stayed. An easy workaround we found was to open the windows during the hours that you're enjoying dinner in the bedroom you're sleeping in. That way it's had time to cool off before you block off the fresh air with the blackout curtains at night.
We had excellent directions that included pictures of keyboxes and tracks which helped with orientation in rural area. the property was as described and kept to a high standard and very clean and tidy with linen provided. the property was in a private location overlooking the lake and national park but lots of south west attractions down to Vik able to do on a day trip from here.it was very private with well kept hot tub looking down over the lake and linen towels provided, wood, BBQ, good kitchen for cooking, anything you needed.There is also a second sitting room snug fully kitted out with telescope and books and TV to watch Iceland win over England!
We chose this place for honeymoon and were really delighted with every aspect of the accommodation and Bjorns directions and details and he was also immediate to contact via email.
If you want an amazing time in an amazing spot, just book it. It is truly wonderful here, thank you Bjorn. Takk fyrir.
PS. there were no black flies either! big plus to the other end of the lake in summertime!
