Discover The Amazing Energy Of A Yurt

Enjoy A Yurt Holiday In The Spanish Sierra Nevada

Do you dream of finding the perfect vacation rental, where you can relax and centre yourself – somewhere where you can just be, without doing too much? Somewhere that’s near enough to culture and civilisation to ensure delightful days out, yet far enough away to offer you quiet restfulness? Somewhere that has good facilities (like a swimming pool), yet is built on sound eco-friendly principles?

Then Armonia Alpujarra could well be the perfect place for you.

Be In Harmony With The Planet

Nestling in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, Spain, Armonia Alpujarra is a truly special place. We wanted to create a space where our visitors could be close to nature, and where they could be part of a community, while enjoying their own privacy. It was important that our Cortijo (farm) would be environmentally self sufficient, in line with our belief that we should do our best to live in harmony with the natural world. So the water comes from our own well, and our electricity is solar-powered.

Respecting the harmony and tranquil energy of the area, we have built two yurts for holiday rental. Both yurts are eco-friendly, self-contained and fully furnished, and equipped with all modern facilities. Yurts have a different energy from more conventional living spaces: their rounded shape and pointed top create a sense of spaciousness and tranquillity. At night, you can gaze up at the stars. During the day, natural light fills the yurt. Looking out, you gaze across to rolling hills with olive orchards sloping up towards majestic mountains. You can enjoy being close to nature, without sacrificing your comfort.

Peace and tranquility in the Sierra nevada

  • 5 of 5

We originally wanted to stay in one of the yurts but both were unavailable . Instead we were offered the casa iris, a cute and cosy little cottage, which was perfect for us. It had everything we needed including wifi! In the evenings we were able to swim in the pool and sit on the terrace watching the sun go down. Bliss. Yair offers shiatsu massage along with a range of other therapies. We had the shiatsu which was relaxing, invigorating and emotionally cathartic. We didn't want to cook so we had the delicious food which was tasty, fresh and wholesome. Overall our experience was wonderful and if you are looking for peace and quiet but with access to the villages of lanjaron and orgiva, with Granada and the coast a longer drive away, then this place is ideal. Yair is a thoughtful and considerate host who, along with his wife, has created an oasis of calm with all mod cons. Highly recommended. Peace and love!

Fruits and Vegetables: Just before Coviran on the same side. The sign outside is Cruz Campo. They have a nice variety to choose from.

In the entrance to Lanjaron (coming from Granada) you can find many Tourists Shops that sell typical items of the region.

Órgiva is the central town of the Alpujarras and is famous for its double towered church as well as its multi-national residents.

Places to Eat

• El Limonero: Good international fare with quirky touches & beautifully eccentric chef/owner at medium prices.

• Pizzeria Almazara: Spanish and Italian food. Tables outside in an orange grove (closed Mondays). Turn right at the traffic lights in Órgiva, over the small bridge, it’s about 20 meters on the left.

Open: Tues-Sun 11am-3.30pm and 8pm-midnight. Tel: (+34) 958 784 628

Shops are open 09:00 – 14:00 and 17:00 – 20:30 (closed on Saturday afternoon).

Sightseeing in Granada

Granada is a lovely city to explore, with a cathedral, the Albaicin and Sacromonte gypsy quarters and lots of great shopping and eating.

Mountain Villages

Drive towards Órgiva and turn left just after the big BP garage, following signs to Trevelez. Three villages worth visiting at the top of the Poqueira Valley are: Pampaneira, Bubion and Capileira. They’re all very pretty with good cafes, bars and shops. The mayor of Bubion owns a tasty restaurant called L’Artesan (not vegetarian). There is also a funky bar in Bubion called Bar Morisco. Continue up past Capileira and you’ll find a left turning towards a wonderful flamenco bar called Al Catifa that hosts flamenco on Thursdays (get there by 9pm) and a nightclub on Saturdays that gets going at around midnight. Al Catifa is about 45 mins drive from Órgiva. Be
