Panarea is a beautiful island and if you avoid the busy August season you will find a tranquil beach, quaint old town and stunning views from every angle. We stayed in late June with our 2 year old daughter after travelling for a week around the mainland. You will need to get one of the golf cart taxis to Albicocco (we hadn't realised this and waited on the dock at first but there is only one road and everyone knows the house by name - look out for Angela and her sister, they were wonderful during our stay helping us to get around the island). On arrival we were lucky to be welcomed by Francesa herself and Argo (the dog, my daughter still asks after him).

The house is beautiful and the photos don't do it justice. I will never forget the view from the terrace and I don't think we have ever slept as well as we did in the comfy beds - the only sound at night is the sea. The house is well equipped and Francesca was kind enough to leave beach toys for my daughter. We had plans to tour all of the other islands using Panarea as a base but only made it to Stromboli opting instead for days on the beach and evenings on the terrace. We didn't even make it out to dinner because the very typically Sicilian kitchen was such a joy to use and the swordfish sold fresh from the van by the neighbouring fisherman was delicious. Groceries are expensive on the island because of the cost of shipping them in and you may want to bring some supplies with you but otherwise you can get everything you need from the shop near the dock (and a free ride back to the house while they drop off your purchases).

Our stay on Panarea far exceeded our expectations and we hope to return. Thank you Francesca for such an amazing stay.

  • 5 of 5

Settimana in pace

  • 5 of 5

Scegliete l'albicocco!

Super vacanza a Panarea!

  • 5 of 5

Notes:
Water is a precious commodity anywhere. At Panarea is transported from the mainland with tankers, then distributed by the plumber. Must not be wasted for no reason because the risk is to empty the tank before it is delivered again. It would remain without water. So to avoid this we recommend short showers, washing you bathe, closes the water and you lather. Then reopen to rinse. The same thing for washing dishes: using two basins. In a pose dishes to wash, soap and then rinse it all together catching water rinse for new washes nell''altra basin.
