About Gordon Hathway

We are an Anglo-Norwegian couple with many years experience of renting self-catering accommodation, both as owners in the UK and as agents for holiday homes abroad. Our daughter lives and works in Cheltenham so we often use the apartment ourselves. We have another apartment in Bristol city centre where we have been offering short stay rentals for the last 5 years

We fell in love with Cheltenham at first sight, especially the spacious streets, hundreds of beautiful old buildings and many parks, plus easy access to the surrounding countryside. Our apartment is a 'home away from home' offering modern standards in an elegant old building, just a few minutes away from all the attractions and amenities of central Cheltenham.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is an area of elegant Georgian villas, just moments away from the town centre yet in very peaceful surroundings. The proximity of numerous offices and in particular Cheltenham Ladies College make it ideal for a very wide variety of guests.

Brilliant location

Spent a week at the apartment for the Cheltenham Literature Festival. We couldn't have picked a better apartment for location, 5 min walk to the festival, 5 min walk into the shopping/eating areas of Cheltenham and a 9 min walk to the new Cineworld IMAX cinema. As for the apartment, it was superb. Immaculate, comfortable and well stocked. The place had a feel of a real home not just a place for 'renters'. Loved the high ceilings and windows.

Some pretty little Cotswold villages are only a short 20/25 min drive away.

Should you decide on this property you will not be disappointed!

Impressive luxurious apartment walking distance

Thank you so much for letting us stay at your apartment. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at your apartment. We loved the location and was perfectly situated to getting into town by foot or by car. The pictures do not do justice to your apartment. My daughter loved it and was the perfect place to feel like it was home but yet luxurious at the same time while enjoying Cheltenam.

We hope we left everything on our departure as you expected if not more.

If we return to Cheltenham again we hope to stay there again.

Stylish & comfortable, everything within easy walk

We (family of four) come to this region of the UK every year for two weeks to visit family and have stayed in many different locations - this was our unanimous favorite!

The apartment is lovely! High regency ceilings (15 ft?) and large windows make the compact floor plan feel sunny and spacious, even when we had guests over for tea. The colors and art I usually don't pay much attention to, but I noticed them here because they really added to a polished, elegant, and coherent feel to the decor, while still being welcoming to a family with kids. (We think we took all our lego home with us, but if you find a stray block, that was us.)

Everything was in excellent condition, which we really appreciated. The wifi was fast and reliable. The washer/dryer was larger than we guessed and the dryer function actually works. Spacious fridge and freezer.

Well stocked kitchen with enough pots, pans, spatulas, bowls, etc. to really cook. We have multiple food allergies in our family, so we cooked most nights. We even made a cake with all the blackberries we picked.

The beds were very comfortable and the blinds+curtains combination let us sleep even when the sun was rising at 4:30. This location is somehow really quiet, despite being so close to the center of town.

The location is ideal. 10 minutes walk will take you to Montpellier Gardens, or to the many shops and restaurants along The Promenade. There is a full-sized supermarket (Waitrose) about 20 minutes walk, but we mostly stopped at the little co-op that was closer.

Also, this apartment includes a parking space, which is otherwise difficult to come by in this neighborhood.

Overall, we had an excellent stay and we would definitely recommend it to friends and family.


The wifi login info in the binder is outdated. Look at the bottom of the router to find the current details.

This is not to do with the apartment itself, but the railing outside the apartment door in the hallway staircase has bars missing and there is a gap there that is large enough that we were concerned about our children and always walked with them up and down the stairs.

Relevant to some people is that all the pillows, duvets, and even the couch were stuffed with down. I am aware of this because my mother is allergic to down.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your enthusiastic and appreciative comments and I hope you will be able to stay with us again. Unfortunately some old instructions regarding the WiFi had been left in the apartment by mistake and these have now been removed. The management company is attending to the missing staircase spindles. Synthetic bedding is available on request but unfortunately we cannot promise an alternative sofa !
