About Marsha Bell

My husband, Mel, and I are both Mechanical Engineers and business owners. We love to ski, sail, fish, hike, bike, hunt for antiques, restore old cars and older homes and prepare unique foods. We enjoy meeting people. Guests come to stay with us and leave as friends. We both like to show our guests around the ski area.

Marsha Bell purchased this chalet in 2002

Why Marsha Bell chose Lake Pend Oreille

We bought the B&B because it is right on the groomed ski trail. It is easy to ski in and ski out, you never have to walk in ski boots. YEA! Yet it is on the end of the road, no traffic nor grooming machines beeping in the middle of the night.

What makes this chalet unique

The property has a fantastic view, being one of the highest homes on the mountain facing the ski area. It is a great location to watch the fire works, or other activities in the Village. The property also features ski-in ski-out access, with the groomed trail on our property. The hot tub on the deck is a fun place to be warm and have the snow flakes fall around you.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for the amazing Schwetizer experience. We look forward to visiting again soon!

Magical getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stumbled upon this B&B at the last minute. We wanted a cozy and relaxing weekend away from home where we could get some good sleep and have fun. Wow, were we in for a treat! Mel and Marsha welcomed us like we were old time friends and had lots to catch up on. We enjoyed their company and stories, helpful recommendations, their magical chalet, comfy bed, hot tub, and exceptional cooking! This place is truly a gem with breathtaking views and hosts that go above and beyond to give you an amazing experience. Oh, and their homemade pretzels are the best that we've ever had! We will be back again, for sure!

Ski in, ski out, eat well, sleep well

  • 5 of 5

Finding a spot on the mountain for a week of ski racing can be challenging. I didn't want to drive up to the mountain every day, pay for parking, eat out all the time, etc. This B&B was a fantastic place to stay! I had a place to park my car, to wax my skis, to take a hot tub at the end of a long day, to sleep well in a quiet room with a comfy bed. Coffee was on at 7 am with breakfast at 8 am; however--Mel and Marsha were very accommodating to my need to be on the mountain by 8 on some days--and made me an early breakfast which was highly appreciated. Mel and Marsha are incredible hosts, so willing to make whatever needs to happen, happen! I absolutely enjoyed my stay here and would not hesitate to come back. I would take this Chalet over the Sel-Kirk Lodge any day. :) Just a note on Wi-Fi---it's a problem on the entire mountain. The owners utilize a "hot-spot", so if you want to stream movies--bring your own Hot-Spot and don't use up their gigabytes! :)

Wonderful, truly exceptional!

  • 5 of 5

Everything about Schweitzer Mountain B & B and Schweitzer Mountain were absolutely magical. Our hosts M & M made us all feel right at home and were accommodating at every turn. These are two very interesting and special individuals who went above and beyond the typical Bed and Breakfast parameters and included mountain tours and countless helpful hints and recommendations. We would stay here again without question!

Schweitzer Mountain B & B - Best Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

I don't know where to start on this review. It is one of the best experiances I have had staying at any B & B. Extremely memerable and hard to put into words. The other guests that were staying at the B & B have been returning for over 10 years. If you stay here, you will know why. It starts with the owners, the detail to the property, the hosotality and amenities (and again the owners). It is Ski in and out, great location.

We are from Southern California and drove up to Schweitzer Mountain to meet with some friends. My wife found this place, talk to Marsha for booking and told me we had to stay there. She was right.

If you don't meet Met and Marsha, then you are missing a great expereance. I can not wait to come back next year with my wife.

We won't dream of staying anywhere else

  • 5 of 5

Staying with Mel and Marsha at their B & B is the highlight of our family's holiday season. It is so much better than staying in an impersonal hotel or renting a condo. The home is quite large, yet very cozy and full of unique antiques from the owner's many adventures. The breakfasts are wonderful, as is the conversation around the breakfast table. Mel and Marsha are excellent skiers and fountains of information on how best to enjoy your time in the area. They genuinely want their guests to have a good time. Over the five or so years we have been coming, Mel and Marsha have become like family. We have learned so much from them. We wouldn't dream of staying anyplace else.
