Hi, I'm retired from the military and working on my third career. I currently enjoy working on project houses and turning them into new homes. The favorite things in my life are, my family, our pack of dogs, classic cars and my work. After many years of traveling around the world, I've become a homebody and enjoy the small town lifestyle here in Long Beach. Our goal as a host is to make our guests feel like family. So come on down, relax & enjoy!!!
John purchased this House in 2018
Why John chose Long Beach
This house had been sadly neglected. We felt that, with a lot of hard work and of course a few dollars, we could make this a place to call HOME.
What makes this House unique
Besides being in a great neighborhood, its proximity to the beach, parks, and the shops & restaurants downtown make it an ideal vacation home. We searched high & low for local artwork to showcase the Gulf Coast experience.

Great property and conscientious owner!
Everything went fine. Nice property in a nice location. Easy access to shops and restaurants. Pet friendly, with good areas to walk your dog.
Great residential location!
Long Beach Lodge hit all points. The Welcome by Mr John was great and very informative. The home is very well maintained and comfortable. The amenities in the home made it an actual "home away from home". The location was just perfect for us to be able to get to a destinations quick and easy. Eating and shopping sites were right up our alley. Not to mention to be able to walk out the back door and look at the beach. This was definitely a great stay for me and my family and we plan on returning .
Amazing Experience - One of the Best Houses We've Ever Rented
We had an absolute perfect time at our Long Beach home. "Uncle John," as our family affectionately called him, did everything in his power to think of what any renter would need - and then went the extra mile beyond that. In the living room was a basket full of doggie treats as well as a basket of individual snacks for the entire family to enjoy; a library of DVD's and family games; blankets and throw pillows for a relaxing afternoon nap on the reclining sofa; a kitchen stocked with all the basics condiments - not to mention dozens and dozens of K-cups from which to choose when making a cup of coffee, along with sugar and Splenda. In the refrigerator was a fresh carton of half and half, 2 dozen bottles of cold water and a brand new container of Starbucks Coffee ready for you to brew a pot of coffee. John also supplied a lovely King Cake, right in the middle of the Mardi Gras season, which was a welcomed sweet treat. The pots and pans were like new, making cooking even more enjoyable, along with foil, baggies, and containers for left-overs.
"Uncle John" gave us the tour of the house when we arrived, pointing out where everything was and offered his help. The house is clearly marked with small laminated signs, in case you forget where something is or need to know the garbage pick-up schedule. A supply of detergent, toilet paper and paper towels was also provided, which we gratefully used, as well as shampoo, conditioner and soap, which lasted us all week long. He seriously thought of EVERYTHING - even a basket of dog toys to use while playing outside with your dog in the huge fenced-in yard. We LOVED the super comfortable beds.
The location of the house was just a few relaxing and walkable blocks from several delicious restaurants, coffee shops, unique gift shops and only 3 blocks from the beach. John also supplied the most amazing binder of information, filled with page after page of information, from the location of the vet to the nearest church and everything else you might need during your stay. . .all we can say is a huge THANK YOU for making our week so special! It's obvious you take pride in your home and make sure your guests feel welcomed!
Perfectly Put Together as Always
We enjoyed staying at John's house so much while we were evacuated from Hurricane Michael that we decided to go back and get a big dose of the Mardi Gras experience as only the MS Coast can do it. I will repeat as last time, this is the most conhesive and thoughtfully furnished and equipped vacation rental that we've ever stayed at. The location was perfect for the parade, and downtown Long Beach is just a fun place on any day. John's house is aslo one of the few places where your dog isn't just tolerated, but is welcome. Unfortunately, ours passed away between this stay and the last but John had the house ready for her as we arrived. We couldn't recommend this place more. We haven't had the opportunity to stay at John's other rental (yet) and I'm sure it's just as well run.
The Ultimate Long Beach Stay!
My boyfriend and I stayed 4 nights at John's house in Long Beach last weekend with our 2 fur babies as well. We have stayed at a lot of vacation homes as my job requires travel. This home, by far, exceeds everything anyone could want in a vacation home. It is situated in a quiet walk-able neighborhood 1 block from downtown and about 2 -3 blocks from the beach. The theme of the house is Mardi Gras and it makes for a very fun and comfortable atmosphere. The pictures just don't do it justice. It is very nicely furnished and large enough for multiple people to spread out. We did not do much cooking in our 4 days but, from the looks of the kitchen supplies, cooking a full course meal of any kind would not have been a problem. The TV in the master and the living room had cable with 300 or more channels and the wifi worked perfectly. John has really thought of everything a traveler might need when stocking this house. There is plenty of linen and towels for the 4 bedrooms and coffee and associated supplies as well. He even had a King Cake waiting for us which was delicious (btw, we found the baby in the very last slice!) Along with providing everything someone might need for themselves, your fur babies are very welcomed as well. With a fully privately fenced yard, a large dog bed, a basket of treats and plenty of clean up supplies for the yard, what more could a family pup need! We did not use the large grill out back but did spend a lot of time in the gazebo watching the dogs play. There is a large notebook full of information about the area and again John thought of everything. It includes the usual restaurant/shopping info but goes on to offer emergency care for people as well as animals, car care, and so much more! You will have no regrets after staying at John's house, I only wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back.
Clean furnishings with all the amenities of home
My wife and I and our four grown children and their significant others stayed here and found the accommodations clean, well-supplied, and a much better value than a hotel. The beds were comfortable, the dining room table was large enough for most of us at once, and the back yard allowed breathing room for couples.
The businesses and park within walking distance are convenient, and the little treats that John provided at the house added a nice homey touch. We would stay here again.
