Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + One Convertible bed, 2 Baths (Sleeps 4-6)

This lovely home is at the end of a quiet lane, with over an acre of lawn, flowers, and a wide variety of fruit and evergreen trees, and best of all, right next door to the beautiful beaches and dunes of Mackerricher State Park. By walking up an easy trail from the yard and into the dunes, you gain access to miles of secluded beaches and breathtaking vistas. The wildlife is wonderful...early in the morning there are deer and jackrabbits, throughout the day hawks, osprey and sea-birds are plentiful, including the rare snowy plovers running along the edge of the water.

The walk across the dunes from the house to the ocean is about 1/4 mile and takes anywhere from 15-30 minutes depending on your pace. Once you reach the beach, you can head south and hike a couple miles to the tide pools. If you head north a couple miles you arrive at the outlet of ten mile river…this is a good area to look for seals. Just north of the river are fascinating rock formations with tunnels and arches and lots of mussels.

Watching the sunset from the dunes is spectacular and afterward, it's just short walk back to the comforts of your vacation home. Sitting on the deck, you can hear the sounds of the surf in the distance.

Cooking dinner at home is a pleasure with the well-equipped kitchen and barbecue. As the moist ocean breezes cool the evening air, you can relax by the fire or in the luxurious privacy of the large hot tub on the back deck.

A wide variety of shops, galleries, restaurants, and tourist attractions such as the Botanical Gardens and the Skunk Train are just a short drive south in Fort Bragg and Mendocino. The Mendocino county area also has a growing variety of cultural and recreational activities and there are details available at the house.

The property was fabulous. Yes we will be staying here next time we come to Fort Bragg.

The property was great! Yes it was a bit of a hike to the ocean, but when you are on vacation you should have a little adventure! The house was super clean and the owners sent emails prior to your stay to let you know everything you needed to know. Plenty of room for 5 adults. We will definitely be stay here again!

Nice weekend

  • 3 of 5

The house was nice for our weekend getaway. The kitchen was quite small and the beds were not very comfy. The hot tub was nice and hot but outdated and had exposed screws where there was a cushion at one time. A short walk to the beach though.

There were lots of signs posted throughout the house. Things like don't take long showers or don't run the garbage disposal, don't turn the heat up past 68... I kind of felt like my mother was there over my shoulder telling me what to do.

Comfortable Clean Coastal Get-Away

  • 5 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay with elderly parents at Cypress Dunes. The property is well maintained and situated on a spacious property with beautiful trees. The furnishing were in good condition and the beds were very comfortable. The single floor layout worked well for our group. The location at the end of the lane and adjacent to the state park was quiet and private. Enjoyed the walk on the trail over the dunes to the coast. Beautiful views.

We had a very peaceful, quiet time. Just what we were looking for. Than you.

Over all the house cozy and comfortable. A slow drain in one shower and a bed room fan/light not working. The hot tub and warmth of the house were the best!
