Relax at the Traverse du Bonheur in a peaceful environment at the foot of the Albères mountains and the sounds of cicadas. The property, completely private, is located at the entrance of a village dating from the IX century in a wine area. The place invites to relax and a large swimming pool will allow you to cool off on hot summer days. A large flower garden and a stream (Napoleon's canal) runs along the grounds and gives it a romantic air. The villa is very bright and composed of open tunes. On the ground floor, you will find a large kitchen very well equipped, a large living room overlooking the terrace and equipped with 2 sofa beds, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a toilet and the laundry room. On the 1st floor, there is a bedroom and a bathroom with a nice view of the mountains and the pool. The terrace can accommodate 8 people comfortably and is equipped with an electric retractable roof. You can also enjoy the BBQ that reminds us of so many good summer memories. For children, you have left a large toy box for a wonderful holiday to have fun and to discover. It goes without saying that the pool is fenced for their safety. The house is equipped with air conditioning and the pool is heated for your comfort. The village of St-Genis-Fontaines has an abbey IX and 3 wine cellars of Languedoc-Roussillon. We are located a few minutes drive from the Spanish border and the most beautiful beaches in the area.

People in the village lovely. Good groceries available. Lots of good places to visit in the area
Villa is large and airy. Well equipped and convenient Pool well looked after and safely fenced. Terraces at the front and the back of the house. mattresses excellent! All good. We had a great week.
Lovely villa with great pool
We had a great stay in this spacious and comfortable house. We were shown around upon arrival and the house has everything you need including plenty of towels! The pool area is great including the outdoors dining table. The pool is a good size and was a nice temperature. The village has a couple of bakeries and two mini supermarkets and there is a Carrefour about 5mins drive away. We had great day trips to Ceret, the mountains, Argeles sur mer beach and to Aquabrava waterpark in Spain (just less than an hour’s drive).
A very nice house. You get what you see. Nice location, many beuatiful sites to explore.
We, a family of 4 enjoyed our stay of 14 days in this house very much. The house is well equipped, and has everything you need if you want to cook or just relax by the house. The pool is big and the garden is beautiful and suitable for activities. We can really recommend this house, which has a very helpful owner and a contact person in the city. St Genis is a lovely little place with two very good bakeries, a very good pizzeria and a nice restaurant. You need a car to get around, there are so many beautiful places to see in this area. The beach is just a short drive away (10 minutes), and you have very good restaurants in the neighbour ‘city’, only 5 minutes away. We loved our stay very much and hope to come back one day.
I am pleased to see how much you enjoyed the region and the villa was a place you would look for after a long day exploring it. We hope to see you soon again!
great property, quiet spot
This was a great house that suited our needs. Everything you need for a relaxing vacation. We were lucky to be able to book the property at the last minute - it usually is booked early. The property manager and owner were helpful. St-Genis-des-Fontaines is a quiet little town, easy access to highway to take you to the coast about 30 minutes away (you really need a car if you're going to book this property). The Canigou mountain is visible if you walk about 5 minutes up the road along a quiet country road. Beautiful.
Spacious villa in a lovely location.
We stayed here with 4 adults and 2 young children. We chose it mainly because we wanted a gated, heated pool. The pool heater was too noisy, so we had to ask for it to be switched off, but it didn't matter too much as the water was fine. In the height of summer I'm sure the water will be even warmer. Lovely pool side area with plenty of sunloungers. The children enjoyed the 'noodles'.
The arrangements of bedrooms was ideal for our 2 families. Bunk bedroom, double and bathroom downstairs, another double upstairs and bathroom for us grandparents. Plenty of room for everyone.
In fact the whole villa is spacious inside and out and well equipped. This includes 2 utility rooms and outside drying space for washing or just wet towels and cossies.
The box of toys was a great extra for the children.
There is a short walk into the lovely village of St Genis. Fresh baguettes for breakfast. It has plenty of small shops and some local history. There are 2 Caves in the village where you can taste and buy local wine. Bigger shops are a short drive away.
The area is beautiful with lots to choose from to do. The children loved the beaches of Collioure and Argeles, the giant tortoises at La Vallee des Tortues and we had day trips to Carcassonne and Perpignan.
Certainly an area and a villa to come back to one day.
Thank you for your visit and taking good care of the house. We appreciate your comments and good suggestions! We fixed the pool water heater; it is now quiet and we can relax listening cicadas songs. We hope to see you again!
