Villa Gabriella is a brand new exclusive property completed in 2014 with great attention to detail in every respect. Secluded amongst the forest above Nidri, Villa Gabriella offers a truly breath taking vista across the beautiful East Coast of Lefkada over the small seaside town of Nidri, out to the lovely Vliho bay and a multitude of Ionian islands including the privately Princess Islands which consist of Scorpios, Scorpidi, Madouri and Heloni. Offering privacy whilst enjoying easy access to beaches, watersports, cafes and restaurants, Villa Gabriella is a luxury Greek villa rental experience.
Inside each room reflects our life experiences. The master suite captures a little of the essence of the Arabian Gulf, our current home, whilst the ground floor double is inspired by our love of the wild beauty and big skies of the South African Veldt. The twin bedroom, ideally suited to younger guests, draws on the colours and images of Australia and the many friends and family we have “down under”. The upstairs double bedroom reflects a more European feel inspired by our multi-national genealogy and experiences from France, Italy, England and the Celtic nations.
The open plan living spaces make the best use of the stunning light in the Ionian and draw in the views. Equipped with modern technology blended with our passion for comfortable living the villa tastefully reflects our eclectic backgrounds.
Outside the pool terrace offers the opportunity to enjoy the Ionian sunshine amidst the scents of Cyprus trees and wild herbs. The infinity pool optimises the stunning view across Nidri, Skorpios, and Meganissi with the Greek mainland on the horizon surrounded by Jordanian mosaics of the tree of life.

“From ship to shore”
For 16 years Kingston-upon-Thames in Surrey was our UK home where our children Abby and Alasdair grew up. We pursued our careers, Alan in the Automotive Industry and Jo in Financial Services. In 2011 we relocated to Dubai for both work and pleasure and took the opportunity to reshape our set up which included the sale of our UK home and the build of Villa Gabriella.
It all started though in 2002 when we headed to Nidri to learn to sail with Abby & Alasdair in tow and very young. Hooked on both sailing and the beauty of the Ionian islands in Spring 2003 we sailed our own yacht, Gabriella, from Isola to Nidri.
From summer 2003 until 2010 the highlight of each summer was two weeks afloat in the Ionian. Totally captivated by the islands and their way of life, in 2007 we’d driven up to the land on which Villa Gabriella now stands. One single look at the view was enough to seal the deal.
Gabriella, the yacht, was sold in 2010 and the money recycled into the foundations of the villa. From 2010 to 2014 Villa Gabriella was a labour of love. Managed by Steve, long-time Nidri resident and our artistically-inclined project manager, over four years the plot was shaped to allow Villa Gabriella to nestle amongst the trees with minimal disruption to the forest, whilst maximising the very best aspects of a view to die for.
Jo & Alan Carpenter purchased this villa in 2007
An extraordinary location and view which enjoys privacy and peace and quiet but is still very close to the busy town of Nidri. You simply never get bored of the outlook and surroundings even if the weather is not that great as the view simply changes. The bird song in the early morning and evening is also wonderful.
I had a dream
I had a dream , that i can relax in a House in Greece.
At the end of the pregnancy with our two Babies, I only wanted to make holiday. And then I saw pictures of Villa Gabriela. We had booked days later and 6 months anticipation lay in front of us.
Again and again the pictures were viewed, the beautiful views of the Islands, Nidri, during the day but also at night and and and.
End of May the time has come, the images have not been deceived.
The House is furnished in perfect condition, the rooms furnished with lots of love, the kitchen up to date. The garden still new and top maintained. You are looking forward to what is, but also what will be. We have learned that we probably were the first guests. And that’s what we are: guests, no tenants. You notice immediately that this House is no investment, but the owners live here themselves.
From the beginning, you feel at home and not in a hotel. Also for our twins they always and perfectly take care, whether we need a new Babyphone or the provision of equipment for the care of the kids. "Lilas" by the Agency took care of everything, no desire remained open. But best of all was the view. The views of the sea, the Islands, the landscape, Nidri... And if you saw the whole thing, you started up again from scratch. You can't see enough. All in all a wonderful holiday for our family.
Let us three more weeks next year, please

We holiday in villas in the summer every year, and I must say that Villa Gabriella was the best we have ever stayed in. The house and poolare superb and the view towards Skorpios astonishing. But what makes the villa special is the quality of the house. Everything is as it should be, down to the smallest detail. Lilias, who looks after the guests, is a fount of knowledge about the island. We were very fortunate to get the house in August and I urge all to make their reservations early - you will not know what you have missed.
I could have gazed at the view across the sea all day without moving. The villa is very spacious and luxurious, 9 of us fitted in quite comfortably. Everything was thought of, we had a wonderful time. Lefkada is a beautiful island and our stay will be one of the highlghts of my life. the only drawback is the steep gravel track to the villa, it caused many a nightmare so we tended not to venture out.
Where to start!! A great holiday!! The service we received from step one at booking stage to the final goodbye was excellent. Contracts and payments were processed quickly and efficiently, driving instructions easy to follow, meeting and greeting at the villa plus a very informative informal chat to set us off in the right direction for everything from supermarkets to day trips was an extra that only enhanced our holiday. Service excellence all round.
The property is absolutely beautiful with great attention to detail in every respect. We could not think of one single thing that was missing at villa Gabriella. Fabulous White Company linen and towels allowed us to submerge in absolute luxury. The views are without a doubt the best thing about villa Gabriella; after two weeks we were still finding view points around the property that we had not experienced before. Really beautiful.
The location is great if you want to be close to restaurants and beaches and at the same time be away from it all. It is probably about 5 minutes drive to the nearest taverna and a further 2 minutes to the beach and shops. There is plenty to do with motorboat hire, water sports, day trips, beaches, tavernas, bars and cafes at your finger tips in Nidri and it is easy to get away from the crowds if you prefer a quiet relaxing holiday.
I cannot say that there was anything that we did not like about our holiday and all i can say is that cannot wait to get back there having seen that the jacuzzi has been installed! Bliss!
The villa is genuinely incredible, set up in the mountains with the most fantastic backdrop. The villa itself is absolutely faultless and the addition of the jacuzzi will be the cherry on top. Thank you very much for a fantastic holiday!
Villa Gabriella was everything we hoped for, and then some! We enjoy our own company and space - there are only 2 of us, and we found it at Gabriella. Set in a stunning location in the hills above Nidri, providing serenity, seclusion and privacy. The views from the terraces include Meganissi, Skorpios and the mainland. Sunrise was spectacular and an early morning dip in the pool was usually taken.
We were met by Lilias on arrival and shown around the villa and she also gave us some pointers as to places to visit, good restaurants, bars and the like.
What a truly lovely place it is, with fixtures, fittings and appliances of the highest order. The welcome pack was exactly that - very welcome, especially the beer! It also included more than the usual bottle of wine and a few olives. Very well done!
The villa was spotlessly clean and we felt like we were in someone's home rather than a rental villa, thanks to the owners decorations and furnishings.
A car is essential of course and we also hired a small speedboat from Helen, Lilias' sister who operates from Nidri harbour - Trident Boats. We were able to visit the neighbouring islands and see Gabriella from the sea.
We had been to Lefkada 6 years ago and usually don't go back to the same place however this was a truly unforgettable holiday which I would recommend without hesitation.

Villa Gabriella is well worth a visit and comes highly recommended by us, it has been built & furnished to a very high standard with lots of space to relax in, each bedroom was furnished with a different country theme and had its own bathroom which was just perfect. The pool was excellent and very well maintained, (early on a morning so not as to disturb your visit).
The views are to die for, changing as the day goes on, you never get fed up of looking. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming with lots of information on where to visit and eat out.
The location is secluded but within 10mins drive of the town of Nidri with beaches lots of shops and water sports, we hired a boat for a couple of days from Trident, which was well worth it, as you get to see all those islands up close, great for mooring up and snorkling or just diving in from the boat.
All other towns were within easy reach by car, be prepared for long windy roads to reach the beaches but well worth it. West cost line beaches well worth a visit, we didn't go till the end of our holiday and wished we had gone earlier.
My husband and I went with our 3 teenage children ranging form 13 to 16 years and we all had a superb holiday at Villa Gabriella with plenty to do for us all.
We will defiantly be visiting again in the future.

Lefkada, a truly beautiful undiscovered island in the Ionian Sea
Lefkada, also known as Lefkas, with an area of 295 sq km, is the fourth largest of the Ionian Islands and has a coastline of 117 km. The easy access to the island across a floating bridge has made it a favourite with holidaymakers. The floating bridge is an excellent feat of engineering and can raise both ends and swivel round on its axis to allow yachts and fishing boats through the channel to the main harbour and down the East coast. This lovely undiscovered island offers fabulous unspoilt beaches all along its coastline and is a boater’s paradise with its multitude of satellite islands. Some of the best known beaches are Porto Katsiki, Kathisma, Pefkoulia. The Prinigponisa satellite islands are Scorpios, owned by the late Aristotle Onassis, Meganisi, Sparti and Madouri owned by the late national poet Aristotle Valaoritis.
The island of Lefkada is lesser known as a holiday destination to a wider audience in comparison to neighbouring Corfu, Paxos and Cephalonia. This of course has ensured that it has maintained much of its character and traditional Greek identity. There are plenty of attractions even for the more discerning traveller. The impressive green landscape offers many beautiful walks for all levels and there is a very good book that can be bought locally with tracks to follow. The long white beaches of the west coast are perfect for sun worshippers and family days out, and the crystal clear waters of the small coves on the east coast are a snorkeler’s paradise. Beautiful old churches dotted around the island, museums in Lefkas Town and archaeological sites close by are great for those looking for a bit of culture whilst on holiday. Lefkada also hosts one of the most famous International Folklore Festivals in Greece during the month of August.
Lefkas Town, 25 mins drive, is the main commercial centre. There is a quayside road south of the causeway entrance with a busy marina. The High Street runs through the centre of town and is also known as the ‘Pazari’, this is the main street for shopping and cafes. A mid-morning coffee in the square is ideal for a break and a perfect opportunity to see the Lefkadians in ‘action’! The architecture has been mainly influenced by the Venetians and the post Byzantine traditions but also by the Turkish and the English. The houses in the main part of the town are two storey buildings, very closely packed, without yards or gardens and with narrow alleyways running between them. It is lovely to walk around the back streets of the town where you are also more likely to see the typical Lefkadian houses wrapped in brightly painted corrugated iron.
Geni, 15 mins drive, is a pretty little coastal village on the east coast with an abundance of great fish tavernas located on the water's edge.
Nidri, 5 mins drive, is the primary holiday resort on Lefkas. There are a variety of tavernas, restaurants and cafes here, also a handful of bars and a couple of nightclubs. The majority of shopping and tourist facilities are on the main street. On the seafront, known as the ‘Paralia’, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Pringiponissa islands - amongst which is Scorpios, owned by the Onassis family.
Ag. Nikitas, 35 mins drive, on the north-west tip of the island, is a pretty little village surrounded by fabulous beaches such as Pefkoulia, Kathisma and Kalamitsi. The nucleus of the village has been placed under preservation order, thus maintaining the traditional Ionian ambience.
Syvota Bay, 20 mins drive, is in the south-east at the head of a large bay and has an outstanding natural harbour. Syvota is wonderful for an evening meal with great fish tavernas by the sea.
Vassiliki, 25 mins drive, in the south is a self-contained tourist resort with a full range of facilities. The harbour is lined with restaurants and cafes and the main street has a fair number of shops. Many sailing companies operate from here and you may hire windsurf boards on a daily or hourly basis. Vassiliki has a ferry port operating a service to Cephalonia and Ithaca.
Motorboat hire is a must as it can open up a realm of uninhabited beaches and coves. The motorboat includes the provision of a map of the boating area, buoyancy aids, flares, oars and anchors. Detailed instructions will also be given for operation and mooring and a full local back-up service is provided. There are many small deserted coves on the coast and excellent snorkeling areas where you can enjoy the local marine life such as Sea Urchins, Sea cucumbers, Red Star Fish and when overturning stones or rocks perhaps you may find Brittle Starfish or even Octopus!
