Gig Harbor Bungalow
A very clean and comfortable property. The pictures are accurate. Even though this unit shares some common walls, our stay was very quiet. The kitchen is well stocked with coffee and seasonings. The bathroom and washer/dryer are also supplied nicely.
For the dogs
The things I learned by staying at this place:
1. I will never rent a place with no reviews
2. I will never rent a pet friendly place unless I am bringing my dog
3. I will not assume that pictures tell the whole story -- the closet door was broken and leaning against a wall. I got to look at the broom closet for six days.
4. Even though television is listed as entertainment, the TV does not have basic channels -- the renter must provide their own subscriptions, such as Netflix, etc.
I arrived at the property late in the evening and when I opened the door I was greeted by an overwhelming strong odor. After wheeling my luggage into the apartment I opened the two windows (there are six but only two open) and the front door and sat outside for three hours and watched videos on my iPad. Finally I had to get some sleep but kept waking up due to the smell. The next day I was there all day and aired it out again -- and sat outside. I texted the manager and told her the apartment smelled like dirty dogs. The neighbor came by while I was sitting outside and said there had been four large dogs in the place before me. The neighbor gave me some baby powder to put on the rug which put down and then vacuumed. The manager said she was not aware that there had been four dogs in the apartment and it was difficult to monitor every home. To make a long story short, I had to contact VRBO several times. The manager told me to roll up the rug and take it outside and they would pick it up. The manager came by the next day and told me that the place didn't smell --it did. I had rolled up the rug and hauled it outside and aired the apartment out for over 24 hours. That is why it did not smell -- due to my hard work on my vacation. As you can tell, I was not happy with the property itself or management and I do not recommend it. Gig Harbor is absolutely beautiful and I had a great time at my workshop. I am sorry that I stayed there because it smelled like dirty dogs and the manager did not believe me when I told her about the odor.
We will bold the PETS WELCOME in our ads in the future. I do not own a dog but in pet friendly properties even after 6 hours of cleaning there's bound to have some sign of pets. Everyone else that has stayed in this property has enjoyed it. Unfortunately for new travelers it's sometimes hard to understand that we are not a hotel or huge chain, that these are homes and not hotel rooms and sending messages at 4 am in the morning or 9 pm at night is not the best way to communicate. I'm hoping the 15% off and the delivery of a different couch did in some way offset your discontent.
