About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Other (See Description), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

Located on the Klamath River, Sandy Bar Ranch is in a fertile valley carved from surrounding mountains by the Klamath River and offers a remote retreat for exploring California's largest remaining wilderness area--the unique and scenic Klamath/Siskiyou bioregion which contains the Marble Mountain Wilderness, the Trinity Alps and the Siskiyou Wilderness. Sandy Bar is a haven for recreationists, travelers, fishermen, and families. Located right on the Klamath River, we have a great sandy beach, a large lawn, ping pong table and lots of peace and quiet. Our goats and chickens offer great diversions for kids.

The Wild and Scenic Klamath River, and its majestic system of tributary rivers and creeks, flows through the renowned Klamath/Siskiyou mountains. From blue herons to bald eagles, river otter to deer, this wilderness sustains a wide variety of wildlife. Plant lovers will find the greatest diversity of plant species in the continental United States along with over 280 endemic species. Orleans is home of the Orleans Ranger Station which offers guidebooks and maps to abundant hiking, bicycling and other outdoor recreational activities in the area. The mountainous terrain rewards hikers and bicyclists with spectacular scenic views. There are easily accessible hiking opportunities of all levels.

About Blythe Reis and Mark DuPont

We have at Sandy Bar Ranch since 1992 and love the mountains and rivers of the Klamath. We love farming and gardening and are proud to serve on both the staff and board of directors of the Mid Klamath Watershed Council. Since 2001, the Mid Klamath Watershed Council (MKWC) has been working to restore the threatened Klamath River in Northern California and the upslope habitats upon which the river depends.

Blythe Reis and Mark DuPont purchased this cabin in 1992

Why Blythe Reis and Mark DuPont chose California

Our Klamath River vacation cabins come with a full kitchen & linens, private bedroom, bathroom and a deck that looks over the Klamath River. The bedroom sleeps two, and two more beds can be made in the common kitchen/living room area. (Cabin 6 has a second bedroom with a queen bed.) It's a short walk down a path to our private sandy beach and swimming hole located across from Pearch Creek, a pristine mountain stream that can be heard from the cabin decks. Our pet friendly lodging is open to all four-leggeds, as long as they can behave around our goats & chickens!

What makes this cabin unique

Sandy Bar Ranch is off the beaten path, in a beautiful corner of the world. This is one of the few remaining places with no cell service; we invite you to take full advantage of this, relax and unplug during your visit. Our office is equipped with WIFI and a land line for your use, but neither of these are available in your cabin. You can contact the outside world when you want, and we can pass phone messages to you, but in your cabin the main thing you’ll hear is the river.
