Cockington Manor Lodge in Torquay is a spacious detached 2 bedroom ground floor bungalow style annex in the gated grounds of the owners large private home which is situated on the edge of the prestigious Cockington area of the town. The newly constructed property offers excellent quality and spacious accommodation for a family holiday or two couples wishing for a quiet retreat whilst being conveniently located within the resort. The stylish interior is a credit to the thoughtful owners and is modern with excellent quality fittings in all rooms as well as TV's and DVD's in the bedrooms and free Wi~Fi throughout the accommodation making it a real home from home. The beaches at Torre Abbey, Corbyn Head and Livermead are all accessible on foot and are approximately a 10 minute downhill walk, a good exercise on the return. From the beach a further 10 minute level stroll along the promenade will take you to the marina, town centre and harbourside with a great selection of restaurants, bars, shops and attractions. The centre of the picturesque "olde worlde" village of Cockington is also only a 10 minute walk away, the village itself has great examples of traditionally thatched Devon cottages as well as an excellent visitor craft centre, tea rooms, and a popular pub serving good food. The country park which is accessed from the village centre has lovely gardens, expansive open spaces and miles of pretty walks, for children the large open grassed spaces are excellent for letting of steam, you may even catch a cricket match on the green, we would certainly recommend one or more visits during a week. Local shops for everyday needs, including a Co-op supermarket are very conveniently located in nearby Chelston which is less that one mile away. Overall Cockington Manor Lodge is a great location to spend a holiday break and we are certain will very quickly become a firm favourite with many visitors to Torquay.

We had a lovely stay, it was secure and private. We had all the amenities that we required as it was well equipped
This holiday was excellent with Mrs bell;s help (nothing was too much trouble) we were able to short cut finding good restaurants and not to mention the now famous delicious cream tea.This was a last minute booking which we would not normally do ,and it turned out to be a great success, even the weather was good.So thanks again to Julia & mark (Mr 7Mrs Bell}, why be so formal with such nice people.A.G.
This place really was a home from home. Lovely private and secure location, almost everything within walking distance, we only used the car once during our stay, although it is a bit of a walk back up the hill from Torqauy but if necessary a taxi is cheap and easy to find and this did not distract from our excellent stay. Shop/pubs within walking distance. Excellent facilites, the dishwasher was much appreciate, who wants to wash pots on holiday! And the wifi was well used by our teenage son. Would defiantly recommend this place to adults and families with older children.
The apartment was very comfortable and well appointed. On entry it was immaculate and so welcoming. It had all the mod cons too. Julia had a devonshire tea ready for us ( which was delicious ) and was on hand to answer any questions. If I could offer any suggestions for improvement then I would say a draining rack for the dishes would be useful if you don't use the dish washer. There was literally no pantry space for putting away your groceries and although the fridge was tucked away, it could hardly fit much in it. The weather was hot and the place got uncomfortably warm ( esp in the main bedroom ). A fan for sleeping would have been welcome. The bathroom had no window and got very steamy. The walls and floors got covered in condensation quickly so there was a mouldy-ish smell in there. The apartment's location meant that without a car you would need to walk some hills to get to the beach and back. Grocery shopping would be hard. Having said all of this, I think it was a lovely apartment, very comfortable and the host was great but we would probably choose a cheaper place closer to the beach next time.
The place is lovely and ideal for young children as there are no stairs and gated access. The owners are really friendly and the property is kept lovely and clean. The walk into Torquay town is about 20 mins with kids and the beach is closer so makes a great base for the area.
